Title My Demon
One good thing about this drama or this comment section is that fans of the show were really polite to others.…
Wasn't my experience when I made a comment around the airing of episode 6. I'm glad it was fully positive for you though.

Is this as worse as My Demon?
i think this one struggles in the back half but had a solid finish. I was personally more interested in the main couple & the serial killer plot than i was in the fairies side quests that padded the runtime. this could have been a solid 10/10 show at around 9-10 episodes if you were to cut the fat & not have constant repeats of information/scenes.
My Demon...imo...has a better story structure, i just have one episode left of it. But they do parallel in a lot of ways. The side quests in My Demon arent as long or as annoying...with the exception of the product placements that were contractually obligated to be there...which was honestly the only purpose of 3 characters in MD.

Getting deja vu with that Goblinesque ending of episode 15. It's the same cinematographer so of course it looks amazing....but they really got me silently crying alone in my den with my cat judging the shit out of me. 😢

hopefully it shows more of jinman and jian's backstory bc i love the trope where a guy leading a mysterious life…
the samurai & the orphan plot is kind of a favorite of mine.

this is great! kind of reminds me of Alex Rider
when i was telling my mom about it she said it reminded her of the DaVinci Code & how the man secretly trained the female lead.

The story is not about him its about her !!
Love, it's about THEM. It's about her meeting(getting to know) her uncle for the first time AFTER his death by looking back on her childhood with an adult lense as she fights for her life to survive. He was the silent lion who knew he would die by the hyenas hands, but he trained his cub before he left. He just didnt tell her what he was training her for. 😉
Also, technically speaking from a narrative standpoint, they are both leads in this show.

Title A Shop for Killers Spoiler
We watch a series for the plot, acting, cinematography not only for an actor who acts in it. Take your fangirling…
I'm going to need you to reread the comment & maybe actually understand what was written. I was telling people who are only watching for Dong Wook that it A. it shouldnt matter that he's dead, and B. that it is a story about Jian understanding who raised her as a child from her now adult perspective.

Also you dont know me as im a stranger to you, but if you were to actually read any of my regular comments on shows I watch i discuss all of those things in neurodivergent detail. As my study of focus in school was photography & film.

I think that his voice and presence will be there as she remembers what he taught her. There could be scenes of…
I think of it as his story in reverse. Only after his death does she get to truly know him. All the puzzle pieces fitting together. Seeing her past with more adult eyes & understanding.

A lot of things go over kids' heads on a normal basis, but she was also dealing with an added layer of trauma & disassociative amnesia & aphasia. aka she cant remember everything how it actually happened during that time. she sees a hyena where the man who tried to killer would be, because her & her uncle were watching that nature doc about the lion being quiet while the hyenas make noise. I think Jin Man is the Lion, he already knew he was a dead man with his work, so he did everything to make sure she had the tools to survive without him there without that training tainting her overall life, as she doesnt fully realize that she is a trained assassin until people are trying to kill her.

I'm really looking forward to learning about all his weird lessons & how he passed them off as something other than what they really were.

Title Marry My Husband Spoiler
Can Anyone suggest other ongoing kdramas please???
'A Shop For Killers' action, Disney+ (just started last week. will only be 8 episodes. 2 eps drop on the same day each week)
'My Man is Cupid' romcom murder mystery, Prime (started strong, but getting a bit bogged down with side quests imo in the back half...ends this week)
I need to leave to do something but I'll try to remember to come back with more.

Love Song for Illusion i didn't watch yet actually but it looks really good
It's good for me so far. There are lots of "over acting" parts, but it's the character over acting, not the actor...if you know what I mean?
The OST is already fire imo. Cinematography is dynamic and interesting. Costumes are great...Hair & Make-up department....well lacking just a bit for me. And the chemistry between the leads is there. As he's playing somewhat of a duel role she is balancing that really well with her performance too, as the character can somewhat sense the shift in him more than others.

The Killer's Shopping List had nothing to do with spies and hitmen. It was just a lousy killer vho sent his daughter…
Blessings. Thank you.

I feel like every single person in the comment section talking about "If he's dead I'm not watching" "isn't he supposed to be the main character?"
I need you all to watch the first episode. Jian makes a comment about an action movie she's watching with Jin Man. Gunmen are shooting at the lead actor and she says it's unrealistic and that they all have terrible aim. He corrects her and says, "no, he's very good and using the blind spots." she flippantly response with "Well the story would end when the main lead dies anyway."
When we open this show the main lead is already dead. That's the point. Just because the main character is dead doesn't mean his story is over. Because of what he passed onto her, he is still alive. He is still the main character to her, because she is only just discovering who her uncle really was.

Scary... from the poster I believe LDW will come back and help her fight the criminals. Even though the actors…
I think that his voice and presence will be there as she remembers what he taught her. There could be scenes of him in not so much in flashbacks but a memory/apparition.

damn 10 mins into ep1 I knew this is going to be fire. the directing and script seem very strong and the acting…
I think some just don't know what to do with silence. Ep2 has a lot of silent moments, but to me it serves a purpose. I really enjoy this type of storytelling.

Is Park Ji Bin playing the same character in this story as he did in 'The Killer's Shopping List'. The character names are different, but that doesn't really mean anything when the show has literal spies and hitman in it. I haven't seen Shopping List, and I think he's the only actor who was in both casts.
On A Shop for Killers Jan 18, 2024
i kind of love how the first two episodes were focused mainly on Jian's perspective, so we don't get to see Jeong Jin Man in action yet. He's just a legend among those he's saved.
I love seeing Lee Dong Wook in an uncle/mentor role. I'll always be a sucker for the samurai & the orphan trope.

Did akira end up with hijiri
it depends. i was in the mood for something a bit slower and melo when I watched it. i was also into dissecting the charaters' feelings and emotions, which the actors all did a good job in conveying.
So if you are up for a more melo, frustrating at times show, yes, totally worth it. But if slow & very little actual romance arent something you're vibing with I would pass. I put it in my bittersweet romance tab.
It's only 11 episodes so....watch 2 episodes & see how you're vibing with the actors & writing.

Title Meet Me after School Spoiler
Did akira end up with hijiri
Super Spoilers ahead.
So they are never truly together in the show in any significate way. I think by 9 and 10 are when it's more or less understood that they would be together if they could. She can't give him a proper response to his feelings for the majority of the show. There is a mutual kiss around episode 9ish, but they end it before it can escalate into more. He doesn't want her to get into more trouble for being around him, as he knows she would end up with the blame even though he is the once actively pursuing her. It's very much star-crossed lovers/pure love themed.
When he kissed her on the beach at 15, afterward they held hands in a taxi & as he walked her home, but they immediately ran into her fiancé and his mother outside her apartment complex. She is very confused by her feelings for him. And he doesn't know how to properly control his emotions as he is very much a hormonal teenager. Within the week she leaves town & isn't heard from again. We later find out that he dropped out of his school and moved in with his mother's employee's family to go to school in a different city.
The fiancé and his co-worker who spoiler have a thing are a similar age difference to the FL and ML...so the parallels are paralleling. (Also at first you will hate the co-worker, and then you'll realize she's a real one and probably the best character in the show)

So FL & ML know each other for a few months like maybe April/May til June or July, August at the latest, when he is 15 and she is 25. Three years without any contact they see each other again and he falls back into old patterns with his infatuation with her. So he is now 18 and she is 28. Tops two months pass in the time they are in each other's lives again.
When I say the last 5 minutes I mean the LAST 5 MINUTES he is 23 and she is 33 and he finally comes to her on more equal footing to be with her. There was zero contact in those 5 years as she would have been sued(by his mother) had she attempted to contact him.
