am i the only one who prefers sajo hyun lmao i love the "enemies pretending to be lovers who secretly tries to…
The only reason he doesn't like her is because he doesn't like anyone, and then he had a full ass trauma flashback to the night all this started. And I personally think he does like her, at least the version he first met in his drapery. When he was coming out of his episode(trying to kill her) he was honestly horrified by his reaction. I think the only reason he reacted violently was because the flashback and that flashback being of her younger self threatening his life. Everything that he has liked of found joy in has been mocked and destroyed numerous times. So to like something is to be weak in his eyes.
Ak Hee is always on defense(the protector in a way) so he is very observant of everything. He uses those observations to mold himself into someone pleasing to anyone he is around. Hyun is trapped in his own world and doesn't like to look outside of himself. Ak Hee can even scent Wol out like a little bloodhound. No matter what she looks like he'll be able to recognize her.
I'm still unsure if he is really a evil spirit/demon or if this is an actual case of DID. Though I think I like the former more as supernatural/fantasy has more wiggle room with interpretation of perceived mental disorders.
I feel like if his classmates wouldn't have been so nosy and weird that this hold thing would have ended as a crush on his teacher that he would eventually have moved on from. From the blog stalker to Runa...girl do better. If her fiancé's co-worker(whom we stan at the end of this drama...she is a queen...fight me) wasn't so brutally honest about what she wants and what she observes of others, the fiancé might have been more present for Hijiri while she was struggling to adjust to the school. The second Akira's mother butted her way into this whole thing it was like adding gasoline to a spark. I totally understand her pov in wanting to protect her child. But instead of communicating properly she disregards his feelings. He is a confused kid who needs guidance not lectures and timeouts. He is still a child at 15, but telling a teenager what to do will make them want to do the opposite. Her son not talking to her for 3 years in entirely her own fault for not discussing what happened with his father. Every character is a walking red flag in this one. It doesn't make it bad by any means, but oh boy to people really step in it in this one.
There really wasn't much of a connection between the two lead characters as they spent so little actual time together. A few months in 2015 and the same amount of time if not less-than in 2018. We get a silent 5 reunion in 2023...and that's it. The actors did an amazing job of showing that confusion and frustration of the characters relationship to one another. They did a really good job in making the relationship heartfelt instead of creepy/predatory. It helps that there is only an actual 5 year age difference between the two actors. Cause let us all be clear...if there was an actual 15 year old on screen we would have been cringing the whole time.
Although the show was really well done, I think 'Melancholia' did a better job of showing/fleshing out why the ML liked the FL and how their mutual interest in academics and mathematics truly connecting them even before meeting irl. Other than the poem Akira recites in Hijiri's car, they don't ever really go deeper into Akira's interests or future plans. It's just, become man, support Hijiri. It's giving early Disney princess vibes and Anthony singing about Johanna after seeing her in a window in Sweeny Todd.
I'll end with this. You sometimes can't fully express or even understand why it is you like or love someone. That first spark can sometimes be so small it barely emits light, but feed it, fan it, the spark grows in to a flame that can completely consume you if you aren't mindful.
Duuuuuuuude the TEA on this man. I had watched him when he was younger and was like "let me see what the cast of this show is up to"...oh boy oh boy. I was not expecting the secret family to be a real life plot twist. And i mean secret no one knew not even his past girlfriends....while he was married. How I can still be shocked by Japanese entertainment news is beyond me.
This comment section is a reminder on why Japanese content is the least viewed on my watchlist. Unless it gets picked up by a good translator or is co-produced by a foreign company it's too much of a hassle to access. Even with VPNs. because I don't read/write the language it's near impossible to find the things you're looking for.
So i gave this a chance because some people were saying how good it was despite being cliche. I LOOOVVEEE me some…
I know it's been a year, but I had to comment cause you the first person I saw with a similar take. Cause like, just no. No, but seriously what was that? I'm starting to really like China's marriage age policy. Cause what in the impulsive thoughts was this? Not even their idea, but his friend's. So confusing. The pacing wasn't helped at all by the editing and cinematography at times was really poorly done. They would have great moments followed by really blah ones. The Zoo and the Birthday party were like the only really well done bits. Where she was getting the hand puppets, idk. But the second he takes his coat and shirt off to show his tattoo he got in MIDDLE SCHOOLL??/? What in the hell age is middle school in Japan, cause where I'm from it's like 12-14...you're telling me a 14 year old got a back tat and was sleeping & fighting his way through the city. The shocked Pikachu face that I pulled in that moment. I was like you can put your shirt on for this part my guy...like truly unnecessary reveal. Like it could of been a quiet and calm 'I want to show you something to help me explain' anything but stripping in public in the middle of November.
Am i the only one who prefers this drama over you are my glory. Especially due to the leads acting and chemistry.
I'm having a harder time with these characters for some reason. I love the actors, but the personality/work roles aren't as believable to me. Maybe her ADHD is hitting a little too close to home. I think I need to get past the first ten episodes, as everyone seems to have enjoyed it. Does her job make more logical sense later on?
She would have actually been at the orphanage when he went to ask questions in 94. Don't know where i'm going with this thought. I'm still so curious if they will show us her mother or who dropped her off at the orphanage. I don't really think her parentage matters, but more the reason why she was dropped in a scarf.
After watching Ep 8 here’s some thoughts i’d love to share 1. I saw plenty of people saying 2ml is the killer…
I believe she was a witness/wearing the same clothes as the girl who was the thief, not the actual thief. And she once again fell in love with Cupid in '93. They were supposed to meet the night she was taken/murdered.
I didn't expect a kiss scene so early! they usually show something after episode 10 lolnicely done
on 16 episode romcom dramas it's more common for episode 8 to have the first "intentional" kiss between the leads, as it's the midway point. You'd have accidental kisses before but normally 8 is when one or the other lead purposely kisses the other.
There is not an episode of this drama so far where the FL is not drunk.
drinking culture plus a 29 year old woman who can't kiss a guy without his possible hospitalization over her head...it's a bit understanding. As someone who should be more alert after finding out she is the sole surviving witness to a serial killer...not as much sense.
right same !!! usually i skip the kiss scenes in other dramas idk why but for this one I was so immersed😭😭
I think because it was so calm yet passionate from his side. Kind of like breathing a sigh of relief and settling into something. Also their height difference is perfect.
Anyone else suspicious of Cheon Dong Pal? I don't know what it is about his performance that is making him sus perse, but I just get the vibe that he hasn't exactly been as chill with the whole Earthside punishment as the others. I'm not saying he's the villain, but it would track that the villain is also an immortal, and that's why he is hiding his face. Even if the killer was in his twenties in the early 90s that would make him 50s. If he was in his 30s he would be in his 60s. idk just thoughts.
