Lin Yu Sen's real personality is kind of...adorable. I'm glad that he's started to let his walls down around Nie Xi Guang more. The teasing is cute…the teasing is fun…the teasing is playful…because she, teases back. Love it.

Also, he is clear in communicating that he feels comfortable teasing her because she(her family) owns half the company, and she will one day be his boss. Aka they are on more equal footing than he would be with another employee/co-worker. It's almost like he's reminding her to take pride in her work more because she has more responsibility than the others. It feels kind of like nepobaby mentorship....but make it cute...help that came out weird, but I'm hoping people understand what I mean.

I like that we can see her more relaxed around him and teasing back, because HE knows who she is and doesn't judge her for her family background, or treat her negatively because of it. Unlike her college "friends" who seem to constantly bring it up to neg her.

I can’t stand YR and ZX omg .. and srsly is it only me or I feel like ZX is damn rude in the way he is speaking…
What he thought was pointing out she's not applying herself to her full potential came out like a condemnation on her whole life/being and family. I was shocked she didn't burst into silent tears in the moment. Getting called a leech to your face in front of your peers by the person you not only like, but everyone is aware of your feelings for said person(not to mention previously getting rejected by them), is wild work. I fear he dug his own grave that day.
I have friend whose flavor of neuro spicy comes with blunt speech, unaware of how it can come off. That's why communication is so important to learn. If nothing else is learned from watching romance I hope people's take away is that communication is key to any healthy loving relationship.

maybe because it's supposedly in 2013 era? like maybe they just want to create past vibe
Looks like there's another transition in his styling coming up. I've liked what they've done in episodes 6 and 7. Lost the tie, got to see more of his "everyday" choices.
(personally unless it's a cravat, i've never been a fan of a thicker tie at the neck. They were doing what looks like a triple Windsor instead of a half Windsor, which I personally think looks best with his proportions and age.)

Nie Xi Guang girl you need to move on. What does she even see in that coward??? He's so boring and rude and just…
One really has to wonder how great his tutoring was for her to just disregard how he speaks to her.😆
Yes, she also will make thoughtless comments not realizing her privilege, but his EQ is in the basement when he speaks to her in front of others. He called her a leech to her face in front of multiple people. I literally gasped at how thoughtless his comment was. Like, I would have been holding back tears if someone I liked said that to me.
I generally dislike men who don't make themselves clear to women around them that they can tell has feelings for them. It's made clear he's aware of Rong's feelings and NXG had confessed so also clear to him, and yet he freezes repeatedly when the opportunity to clear the air came up.

I think a part of the intention of his character in relation to hers is to show how people are raised can generally affect how they treat all relationships. He doesn't want to owe anyone anything and wants equal footing. What she sees as putting distance/boundaries, he sees as making equal. What he sees as her not giving her all to her fullest potential, and pointing it out, looks to others as him judging her for taking the "easy way".

I like that we see how easy it is for Nie Xi Guang to misinterpret someone's intentions. The character dynamics during her college years kind of set up an understanding, at least for me, that she wants to see the best in people, but she often confuses intentions of others. She's loyal and trustworthy, but understands that not everyone is the same after her junior/senior year.

Why rating dropped, this drama is so good so far☹️
It could be a combination of things. Popular actors/actresses as leads could be a strong factor(I believe those of us who have been on this site long enough know the review bombing both positive and negative really pops off in idol dramas).

Personally if I'm giving raters the benefit of the doubt(as I haven't done my stat research yet or looked into the episode reviews) it could simply be down to the leads not meeting until episode 5. Or production quality not being up to snuff/exceeding expectations.
The score as of now(at least in my metric) is above average, so I'm not too worried. I think once more people pick it up and it gets into the meat of the story there will be a shift in overall rating.

it's set in 2011-2012,I think it's quite important that you understand the settings though, you are not entirely…
I realize the setting, but I don't have the context of corporate fashion in mainland China at that time.
I know other decades better and I know what was fashionable in other countries at this time. The casual menswear in the show seems to suit the individual body types of the actors. But I noticed the suits on the younger cast seem oversized/loose in areas that are usually not. Which is more noticeable when the other men in a scene have actual tailored suits.

Again, if this is a character choice, by all means let it ride. Maybe it's because I personally have to get most of my clothes tailored to fit me because of my height and body measurements that I notice when things don't fit a person's body "right". And when that character is supposed to have some level of wealth it becomes more obvious. When a character isn't as wealthy it could make sense why a suit isn't fitted to them, because they got it as a hand me down or borrowed from someone else/thrifted.

Oh block button, we meet again old friend.
People are getting personal/weirdly combative in the comment section as "comebacks" to critiques on aspects of a drama production. It's giving lack of media literacy and troll behavior. You can disagree without making it weird. So I will once again be protecting my peace in the form of blocking users who start to make more personal attacks.

Things to look out for when engaging in the comment section. If a commentor has a low comment count, newer profile, lack of any activity on their lists, no profile set up whatsoever not even a changed profile pic etc. they could potentially be a person you might not want to have popping up in your notifications/inbox. Not everything is to a level of needing to report a user to the website, but please do if you see a comment completely crossing the line. Blocking is the usually best option.

I realize we all use this site differently, but I personally don't feel the need to engage further with people who can't have a dialog that doesn't get personal or down right juvenile . Most of us use the comment section as a place to rant, rave or question things in the show that we are enjoying/or potentially not enjoying. This is watercooler talk for the most part. It's just that not all of us have others that consume this media so the comment section is where we connect.

So, yeah, feel free to block me if you don't like the way in which I discuss things. It's a free feature on the website/app. I don't want to be the one to yuck your yum on accident. But I'm going to start blocking those that make it difficult to simply state an opinion or question a production choices as it does affect my view on and experience of the drama as a whole.

Which previous drama you watch ???
I'm not getting a firm feel of direction when it comes to cinematography at the moment. It's giving average(or slightly above average) college age/office drama lighting camera choices atm.
They(leads) don't even interact until ep5 and there's little to no tension conveyed yet for the leads. They've established major misunderstandings between the FL and the SML. Setting up how FL interprets things slightly off of what is reality.

Sets are lived in and so far work for each environment established.
Costumes are a hit or miss. I can't tell if some is purposeful for period and character personality, but there are some tailoring issues with some of the menswear. Again could just be an active choice from production, but it's something that drew my eye.

I'm personally enjoying it. Had a nice little cry over how oblivious FL is to certain things. I think that comes from my own past experiences at that age with misunderstanding intentions only to be told years later that what I perceived was the opposite of reality for the other party.

Mai's acting is great and so are the supporting actors. Wei Long hasn't had enough screentime for me to even get a baseline just yet.
It's much slower build than SAL and not as detailed with coverage with the leads interactions (this could change as the romantic leads have only just started to interact).

Coverage, meaning camera angles/shots that focus on one aspect of a character's body or reaction to information. A fisted hand, an intake of breath, a studder in step. Pretty decent job showing her internal struggles while around SML, so hopeful that will transfer over to the leads' interactions with one another.

If that's a thoughtful choice made for his character cool, but if they didn't deliberately make the suit ill fitted I have questions. I realize this one wasn't a huge budget, but from what is established of his position the character is well off and should have access to a tailor.

Why don’t you go style him then?? Since you’re such a ✨little miss fashionista✨
"Why don't you go style him then?" Wtf, are you twelve? Why are you so sensitive over a critique of the wardrobe department? Did YOU style him?

As a viewer I'm commenting on an aspect of a show that plays into my overall rating of said show. Costumes/wardrobe play an important role in establishing character traits/personality without having to have dialog or long exposition dumps.

I've seen this man styled every which way to Sunday. So either the character is supposed to look frumpy/uncomfortable and like he doesn't quite know how to dress for the corporate world or the wardrobe department don't no how to properly tailor a suit of that cut and style.

If someone who has read the novel and has better insights into his character that would be more helpful dialog than name calling.

Actually, the friend did not lie. The friend said, "Mr. Nie's daughter." But it's NXG's half sister. That's…
I think I had a long blink when she was talking with her father if this party was brought up at that time as they haven't really shown it in the show.

So we just casually have the daughter of the man who crippled the groom at the wedding as if nothing happened? NaNa all of a sudden has time for MuMu again after 7 years?

The lack of follow through with any kind of consequences for abandoning MuMu is maddening. And I mean EVERYONE. She was gaslit and lied to for over half a decade. No one reached out to her to see how she was doing. Every time she came back to Thailand no one had shit to say to her. Pan Kai being the only real one was not on my bingo card. He was the only one to not only keep in touch but tell her the truth or at least what he knew when I knew it.

Unless told by the people who filmed the drama that there were in-between scenes of MuMu interacting with the girls anytime she came back to Thailand in those 6plus years...Show canon they all changed their numbers and ghosted MuMu at Jin Zhao's request.

San Lai even lied about her dog...speaking of which...production, where the fuck was Lightening after MuMu and Jin Zhao got back together? Because they are living in the same apartment and not a hair seen of their pup. He had the whole grain AUDACITY to sit there and smile and laugh at her surprise at seeing him.

I still can't get over MuMu having to once again be the one to chase after Jin Zhao while he barely even apologized. They even dropped the "old house" storyline completely after meeting again. Seriously, I would believe someone if they told me they cut this from a 40 episode length drama down to a 29 episode length.

Also did I miss it or were there no actual kisses in episode 29? I remember a possible forehead kiss and hand holding, but outside of that I have no memory of anything major between them as it was so focused on getting her mother's approval still. Also who would get wasted the night before a wedding? Seriously who throws a bachelor-bachelorette party the NIGHT before the wedding day in this day and age? No, like seriously I'm 35 and have been in multiple weddings and not one had "lets get shit faced" the night before the 8am wedding day wake up call activities happening. That's usually when the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner occurs.

Yes I realize i'm being petty, but someone has to be, because MuMu sure isn't petty enough for me.

I'm sorry, but whomever styled Song Wei Long for this needs to go back to the drawing board. The suits are ill fitting. The tie is too wide for his neck. I really don't know how they managed to make a model look frumpy, but somehow they've succeeded .

Is the ML really bullying his employee because years ago when FL was a teenager they met and she can't remember him? & because he was excited to see her again and got in an accident? His friend must have lied about her wanting to see him, because she has no memory of him whatsoever.

Not gonna lie, the back half and the editing(possibly writing) is going to affect my overall rating for the show. There were a lot of technical bumps in the road that caused the landing to be less than smooth. Would I still recommend the show? Yes. Is it the best one this year? No.
The last episode was just so...meh...in comparison to earlier set ups. It felt more like a penultimate episode rather than the last one. I think the main issues all come from having to cut things for time and censorship reasons. So there were a lot of "wait what?" moments I was having throughout the entire show.

They filmed canada scenes in china too lmao
Just watched the BTS and it looks like all the interiors other than his garage were filmed in the middle of winter in China on unheated sets. They would go from fully padded big winter coats to strapless/sleeveless outfits.
The reason I know they filmed the garage scenes in Thailand is because poor He Yu was literally dripping sweat on to Esther.

Aint no way in hell that house is in Canada....the amount of gaps in the door frames would have them frozen dead by November.
