yall know it won't happen still writing whole ass essays for it damn
I don't know why I got lumped into a conversation about directors forcing things. When my original comment was about stating the fact it was NOT going to happen because of her age and the fact this isn't North America. The woop-woop joke was about the movies dramas from the 2000s being problematic.
I'm putting a little too much faith in the fact the roads might be closed due to the snow storm yesterday and staying up to watch the last episodes....I really should just tap out and sleep first just in case I do have to go into work.

First and foremost this is a comment section where people come to discuss the drama and aspects of the drama. That will include topics like age and experience in the industry to get a feel for what to expect of an unaired show.
I just wrote this today for the first time. I did not scroll to oblivion to read all the comments. This is a universal ick that many people have with entertainment. I am fully aware that Chinese dramas treat their actors with way more respect when it comes to minors and intimate scenes than my own country...aka the land of Nickelodeon and Disney...iykyk
It just so happens that Tian Tian is also reprising her role in Rebirth with Li Yun Rui as the ML...So now looking at the trailer and recognizing the actress and knowing WinWin(WayZenNi present and accounted for) and Li Yun Rui's ages it was bringing back flashbacks to shows/movies I watched back in the day.
Child actors are a polarizing topic, more so now then ever before as they have platforms to speak out. What I'm getting at is...the Chinese entertainment industry is a completely different beast than that of it's Western counterparts. I I have yet to see an actual minor in any on screen situation that I would personally consider inappropriate, and I'm grateful for it. Also have seen many a show curve the kisses all together when an actor/actress isn't comfortable with that aspect. The Double didn't show a single on screen kiss with any characters that weren't married to one another. The ex husband and the princess was all camera angles, faces in necks, curtains and wide shots. Prior to the leads getting married it was a pan to a candle or laced fingers. That was the directors personal choice. Tian Tian is in a stage of transition in her career. (I've been deep diving as she will be in a few show's I have on my plan to watch list) She's no longer playing the younger version of the lead but getting lead roles herself. Slowly moving from web dramas to longer format. Wanting to make sure that she is still treated as the child she is, isn't a bad thing.
Oh honey....I might as well have one foot in the grave the way you're talkin. 🤣🤣😂💀 You see back in…
I have fully embraced the Auntie fan within me. I'm usually like "Aww they are adorable, can't wait to see how their acting progresses in the future." I still call most of them kids when I discuss them out loud.
Its cuz winwin is paired with a 17 year old actress, they have 10 years age gap. But I personally believe that…
Considering she was 16 and he was 26 at the time of filming I would hope they keep their relationship chaste/playful and/or pan down/up a la The Double for any kiss scenes. (In The Double unless two characters were married you didn't really see them kiss, it was all camera angles and wide shots or pan up/down implied kiss.)
why no one told me that this drama is airing soon omg
It was just announced you know how Cdrama's roll. There was one that we got notified less than 24 hours before it started airing recently. I figured it was coming this month or February because Netflix released not only a reminder feature, but also dropped a full trailer.
I would be shocked as all hell if youngest daughter gets a kiss scene in this one. Mainly because she was 16 when she filmed this with a then 26 year old WinWin. Woop-woop that's the sound of da police. (I'm still scared from the 2000s teen romcoms with minor female leads and fully grown male leads having to kiss.)
Before this one starts I'm trying to get my notebook set up for ratings...as this is a true ensemble cast I wanted to break it down by couple so rating their characters, chemistry, storyline, etc...I wanted to make sure I have the age order correct for the daughters & their spouses....Can I get a double check please?
1st Daughter: Shou Hua-Liu Xie Ning; Du Yang Xi-Chen He Yi 2nd Daughter: Fu Hui-WuXuan Yi; Fan Liang Han-Huang Sheng Chi 3rd Daughter: Kang Ning-Lu Yu Xiao; Chai An-Wang Xing Yue 4th Daughter: Hao De-Ke Ying; Shen Hui Zhao-Liang Yong Qi 5th Daughter: Le Shan-Huangyang Tian Tain; Yang Xian-WinWin(Dong Si Cheng)

Not really loving the victim blaming, but sure. They show us multiple times how manipulative her husband is. They then show us how she was raised to believe she is only worth her body & ability to produce babies. She can't have children anymore. Psychology she is already struggling because she feels she has lost her purpose & is unwanted/undesirable for future marriage. Her ex new best when someone is vulnerable & easy to exploit. He got her when she was at her lowest, their child's death anniversary, after these negative thoughts were once again reenforced by her father & older brother. It perfectly demonstrated the cycle of abuse. She didn't forget all the bad things he's done to her & others...she just thought he's who she deserves & she can't do any better than him. She doesn't have a child to fight for/wake her up from this cycle of abuse. I personally don't enjoy a character with that much self pity, but I understand that there are people like this. I personally tried to help get someone out of a financially, emotional, physically abusive relationship. She got out, got an apartment on her own(that I co-signed for her because she had no one else) & she STILL went back to her abuser. She defaulted on her rent & I had to pay. You can't help people sometimes.

A flower is also a euphemism for women...flower has not yet bloomed, she is blooming, she is past her bloom, delicate flower...etc. Flowers are kept in a garden & are pretty to look at & smell nice...concubines of the Emperor remain forever in the palace looking pretty, and smelling nice...his own personal garden, if you will. Marriages secured land/areas, mone, and armies for an empire. So marriages are extremely political within the royal harem. More like he recuirts talent...it's the father's pimping out their daughters for money & status. But yes I was like, that's wild job, but also makes a lot of sense as not all powerful families live in the capital city.

i can't remember if someone explained it in the comments or if I watched a YouTube video discussing the show & it touched on what a Floral Envoy was. I wish I could remember so I could give proper credit & send you a link.
After today's episode, don't tell me Shengyi is going back to that of a bastard husband Wang Qin. That man is…
On average it takes 7 attempts for an abused spouse to leave their abuser. When the one being abused leaves they are at the most risk of death/retaliation from their abuser. In Shengyi's case the only person who loves her in her family is her younger brother, who is ill. Mu Dan came in after decades of verbal & physical abuse, by not only her husband, but her father & older brother. I appreciate that they are truthful with their depiction of someone of her status & rank going through these things. I personally have to skip over a lot of her scenes because it's a bit triggering to see someone in that mental state of self loathing/pity. Not everyone succeeds in leaving their abuser like Mu Dan.
Im trying to like this. Yang zi is a favorite for period drama. But im so bored most of it and skipping thru a…
Yeah a period epic spanning many years isnt going to be for people who dislike slow burns. In Love Like the Galaxy there were 56 episodes over two seasons the lead characters didn't even have mutual feelings for each other until season 2. Now knowing that this has a part 2 coming it wouldn't surprise me if there is no progress on the lead couple's romance until part 2 comes out.
i love it because it's accurate without being too distracting. & it also helps convey her status as she moves through the story. hair, make-up, and costumes play a large unspoken role in each period drama. Being able to tell from a glance a person's rank, social standing, & materialism without even needing a character to speak is vital to a drama that spans the amount of time it is covering.
Rewatching this and completely forgot how utterly unintelligent Jiang Juan Juan was when it came to her relationship. Thank God the actor who was recently kidnapped didn't have a girlfriend like this because he would have been lost forever. Instead of being concerned that her boyfriend but be hurt or incapacitated she blocks him & doesn't reach out for like 2 years or something stupid. he seriously deserved so much better than a girl who dumps you because you lost cell serve while on assignment. Literal psycho behavior & the attitude of a toddler 😒

That is traditional what the Floral Envoy would do...go around the country recuirting women for the Emperor's harem. (JCY isn't going through these women if thait's what you're asking) also this isn't necessarily what JCY is doing in the show as that is a "role" not who he actually is. He is working in the shadows to clear out corruption throughout the country, being the Floral Envoy gives him a reason to be in places a normal investigation wouldn't allow/would be found out.
