Tissues part two

I appreciate the fact we spend the majority of this episode with He SuYe and what is going on in his world...and what he is struggling with on his own. Watching his father treat a woman he's never met before better than he ever treated his mother in the same space, and on his birthday, no less...peace of work. I really can't stand his father, and I'm hoping for the day SuYe spells it all out for him in detail on WHY he failed as a husband and a father. SuYe and then XiFan reaching out to each other...her remembering it's his birthday....the whole scene made me cry for them. Zhang Ling He and Xu Ruo Han have really perfected the art of crying without letting the tears fall. The way you can see how verklempt SuYe is when trying to articulate what he wants to say to her next. The director did a really good job holding on moments, and letting the audience feel the awkwardness and tension of their interactions. How they showed SuYe's isolation even surrounded by family. There was a small glitch in this episode, which was either just my stream from iQIYI or something that will be edited out within a day. But while SuYe was fixing the red beans parts of the scene repeated themselves and the audio/sound mix got a bit funky. Again, not sure if it was just me or something everyone saw. But with how quick directors are about going back to re-edit episodes lately, I wouldn't bet on it existing for a whole 24 hours. ps. the audacity of SuYe's father, giving a woman his son's room on his damn birthday....straight to jail. At this point I'm voting for cutting ties and moving his hometown to his mother's. (you are registered in your hometown...think like a passport....it actually matters for legal and financial reasons.)

They are sticking it...they just need to hold the position

This landing was coming in hot, and it looks like production is sticking this drama ending with a flourish. The call backs and slow building tension was perfect. I have faith that the last hour will be just as good as the first 15. LETS GOOOOOO

What in the character assassination is this?

The writer-director took it upon himself to dumb down multiple characters, kill all character growth, and fundamentally change kep plot points just to extend his run time. This is how you fuck up an adaptation of a romance written by a woman. All this director seems to want to focus on are the traumatic elements. The SA...the SA that never existed in the source material so that she can meet the intern. No. No. No. "Her room looked rather emtpy" no shit Sherlock. This is "but what do we do now" levels of taking away a woman's intelligence to further a plot point for a male character. Wen YiFan GOES TO Sang Yan in YiHe. SHE DOES NOT GO INTO FUCKING HIDDING SCARYING THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF HIM. Sang Yan does not find out from other people what the fuck is happening with his girlfriend. She goes to HIM & SHE tells him her story. I get want to show a visual of him discovering what she went through over the years, but there were better ways to show the audience this information without undoing all character development & placing everyone back at square fucking one.

One book ends another begins

Finally Xi Fan is free of her ex, once and for all, barring any more random pop ups from him in the future...but he no longer has a hold on her life or mental health. We love to see it. "Just focus on loving yourself, I'll take care of the rest." --He Su YeSIR! I love that Xi Fan was finally able to stand up for herself and that her parents backed her and Su Ye only stepped in after she said her peace and the guy still wasn't getting the message to leave her alone. It made it feel less like a rescue and more like a partnership in the making.

Tissues needed

This starts a new misunderstanding between Xi Fan and Su Ye. The awkwardness and fumbled rejection was so well done. Xi Fan is still dealing with the trauma of her ex, and then adding on the little intern putting in her unasked for 2cents....so many emotions. Xi Fan doesn't know how to reject someone who she actually has feelings for. It's messy, and heartbreaking to see both of them struggling in their own way. Great episode but tissues needed.

The Ex becomes a stalker

The director does a really good job of showing Xi Fan struggling to navigate being around her ex again, and all the emotions coming back to her at once. They don't flat out say if, but she's pretty much dealing with constant panic attacks throughout the episode. The acting was great from everyone as well. SuYe remains calm when in direct conflict with the ex in his work space/exam room. I'm glad that they didn't have anger meet anger with the two men. well done episode.

Weddings and Truth Serum

Sang Yan attends his college dormmate's wedding and Yi Fan joins the banquet after work. Drunk Yi Fan is too cute, and Sang Yan is the strongest solider.

Sleepwalking leads to misunderstandings

Oh they did such a good job with that scene. There are a few scenes from the novel that are a "must be done well" for me and that was one of them. So so good. The cinematography has really evened out now and the flow(pace) is getting really good. We got a small glimpse into what actually triggers her the most...family, specifically her uncles' wife/family. Those dream sequences were so well done and really captured her sense of isolation. She just had to hug that sun...poor sun was very confused and...*cough*happy*cough*😉😏

A puddle of emotions

Ya'll I am nothing but a puddle of tears. was not expecting that beautiful representation in a period Kdrama...😭😭😭A mother not only seeing her child, but excepting & embracing them in such a loving & protective way...I gotta go hug my mom real quick after this one.

Five Stars

This episode feels like a proper transition episode. This is the mid-pause before the ending arch gets into the thick of it. Very nicely paced and touching base with everyone still on the board. Looking forward to JingHe and Mei Lin running into their "little" brother now they are back in her hometown. It was the city he overheard them talking about so I'm assuming that he is there somewhere.

Everything we've been watching for and more

This was chalk full of Ryu Sun Jae's POV, cuteness level 1,000. From the jump I was kicking my feet like a little kid watching this episode. Drunk Sun Jae is adorably clinging and Baek In Hyuk is the best of wingmen, even when he doesn't realize he's winging for his bestie. The ending is a pretty brutal cliffhanger, but the pacing of the first half was perfection. And hot DAMN, that kiss....fire

Comedy Gold

This episode is pure chaotic comedy gold. Everyone stepped up and was absolutely hilarious. Ryu Sun Jae and Im Sol get caught by her brother dating in the video store. This then leads to the most dramatically funny family feud I've seen in a long time. The reference to X-Man sent me back back and I couldn't stop laughing.

Five Stars

I'm going to have to rewatch the first episode again to see if he recognized her on the side of the road. The epilogue/ML's perspective was so good.

Hoping it gets better...

I found myself extremely bored for a large portion of this episode. Most of it was just awkward moments sewn together to make an episode. I felt a bit like Soo Hyun's character by the end...disappointed and underwhelmed. I see potential, but I'm not sure how long it's going to take me to actually care about these characters.
