It's been a good 1 year since I read the book, so I might be wrong... But...
Wasn't it mentioned that CWN's spiritual core couldn't contain the energy surging through him which caused him to faint? Because his heart/soul was divided into three because of his scheme in the previous life that enabled the rebirth process... is that why? (The plot I remember is a total mess ohmygosh... I just realised) And as for why Mo Ran couldn't summon Bugui, I think he chose to not summon it later...? I really don't remember it but what's your take on it? Because now I am very curious to see how right or close to the truth I am...

I saw that comment as well and hopefully, even though we can't expect any physical intimacy (which I am also not very keen on cause the beauty of censored romance is on a different level), I hope they keep the fluff undertones intact... just a few scenes of canon RanWan and some eye contact with beautiful music will sustain me for the next ten years until another drama takes over :')
