Well, I don't know if the Italian boys from the rural provinces are clipped, but the ones in big cities like Florence and Rome are. And it wasn't just my boyfriends. I was living in an apt. in Florence with 3 other girls and all their boyfriends were clipped too. A roommate was freaked the one & only time she met a boy who wasn't.

As for the novel "Maurice," check it out. It's short, at 250 pages, and an easy read. No stuffy, overwritten, prose. EM Forster is remarkably clear for an author of that era. BTW, I teach English. Can you tell? lol.

You know, I've begun to think that circumcision of European men comes down to class and location. That is, rich men and men born in cities get circumcised, while those born in rural areas do not. I had an English boyfriend and a Greek boyfriend in college and both were clipped. I never thought about it back then, but now I realize they must've had money.

It was 25 years ago (yea, I'm old), and the exchange rate sucked for Europeans back then, foreigners don't get financial aid, and it was an Ivy League, so they had to have been rich to afford it. I'm thinking now that this is why both were clipped. In other words, richer Europeans would want to maintain the cultural standard of being circumcised (call it American hegemony).

When I lived in Italy, it was in a city (Florence). All the Florentine men I slept with, rich or poor, were clipped. I think that urban hospitals simply offered it as a staple thing. When I once slept with a boy who'd come from a rural Italian province, he was uncircumcised.

In short, it is just as you say, and Europeans do not get circumcised as widely as Americans do. But the richer Europeans, and the ones who live in cites, do seem to get circumcised as commonly as Americans do. At least, this has been my experience. Because nearly every Euro dude I've gotten jiggy with has been clipped.

Ok, enough of this obsession on circumcision. Because now when I watch KP's next episode, all I'll be imagining is how their thang's look with a foreskin. I need to refocus on faces! This is my last comment on dudes being clipped or not. I promise!

That's when I found the 97% statistic about uncircumcised Asians. I also noted what I pretty much already knew about Catholics, Jews and Muslims, which is that circumcision is the norm for all these religions.

I'm Catholic myself, and then lived in Italy in my youth and was quite the slut, lol (I mean, Italian men are yummy!) so I can personally attest to the Catholic countries being circumcised. Although, to qualify, I lived in a city, and 2 of the boys I met who'd come from rural provinces were unclipped. Meaning, it was, perhaps, a cosmopolitan thing whereby the richer, urban boys were clipped.

As for South Korea, holy shit, I just googled their circumcision rates, and you are right -- it's 77%. I cannot account for why an Asian country would have such a high circumcision rate. Taiwan and Japan are only 8%. Perhaps it's because S. Korea has such a high percentage of Christianity? Who knows. I only know that I love Asian men, and love my thangs clipped. So get me to South Korea!

And thanks for telling me what James Ivory said about "Call Me By Your Name." I liked that film, but thought critics went overboard in salivating over it. Indeed, I remember being surprised it was even produced by James Ivory because it was made in 2017, but did not have the sexual daring of "Maurice," which was made 30 years earlier in 1987.

The actors were clearly pussies worried about being nude. Timothée Chalamet was poised on being a big star, and Armie Hammer is not a daring actor to begin with, so I'm sure both refused on nudity or any open mouthed kisses (there was finger sucking and fruit fucking, but no deep kissing). But those classical British actors, man, they can do an otherwise chaste film like "Room with a View" and still give us nude scenes! Let's give it to those beautiful British boys!

I am not finished with the novel, so maybe I did not get there yet. I read a lot in one day, but then I had to put it down to finally grade some papers for work, and won't be able to pick it back up until next weekend (my job is suffering, lol). But when they mentioned Tawan so far, I got the impression Kinn was not that preoccupied by him. Like, hey, just one more of many ex's. Hummm..... Guess there's more to this, eh?

Exactly! I mean wtf is with all the hate on this cute little series? It clearly has a low budget. But I think it's doing a great job with it's low budget. Sure, the girl's annoying, but there's distinct chemistry between the leads. When the shy one looks at the outgoing, charismatic one, you can tell they are attracted to each other. There is the wonderful, age old scenario of opposites attract. Moreover, why the hell are people hating on this show and giving higher ratings to utterly unoriginal Thai BL's set on engineering campuses that are churned out on a factory assembly line?

I am not sure about Protestant countries like England, so I need to check that graph again, but you're likely correct about Rupert Grave's uncircumcised thang being the norm. However, when you watch this uncut version of "Maurice," you'll catch a full frontal of Maurice too (ie, the actor James Wilby), and he is circumcised. So, really, who the hell knows. I guess we girls all gotta educate ourselves on who's clipped or not, eh? Ah, the truly important things to know in life!

Oh, and after getting that link for "Maurice" tonight, I got sucked into watching it again. I just finished it minute ago. I have now seen it 3 x's and it never gets old. I saw it 25 years ago when it came out (yes, I am that old), then again a couple of years ago, and then again tonight. I also read the novel, which I highly recommend. It's very short, at a little over 250 pages. E.M. Forster wrote it in 1914 and could only show it to a couple of close friends (for obvious reasons), and it was published posthumously in 1971. Imagine writing an entire novel that you could only show a handful of people. Ugh.

You know what, you're right, the curtain scene came after the pier scene. I just remembered that when I saw Kinn refuse the boy-toy's kiss, I had to put it all together in retrospect that, oh yea, Kinn had kissed Porsche in the last episode, so he must care for Porsche. But the viewer should not have to put it together in retrospect. They should've simply put the curtain scene first.

And wow, you are the same girl who talked to me about Dead Ringers on the Not Me thread! You have a terrific memory. I am so pleased to be in touch again. I make pretty radical judgements about people based on what they read and watch, and if you liked Dead Ringers (which was really decadent and out there) and Maurice (which was highly literary), I have already concluded that you are intelligent.

Thank you for the link to the uncut version of Maurice, but I already saw the uncut version somehow. There was a scene of Maurice and Scudder in the hotel room after sex with a full frontal shot of Scudder (ie, the actor Rupert Graves). I remember being surprised that Graves was uncircumcised, because most men from Western countries are circumcised. Conversely, men from East Asian and South East Asian countries like Thailand are not. I read a statistic that over 97% of Asian men are uncircumcised. I think Asian men are more beautiful than Caucasians but, dang, I really do prefer a circumcised thang!

Wait, didn't they tell us that Kinn had an aversion to kissing in the scene where Porsche was hiding behind the curtain and Kinn wouldn't let his boy-toy kiss him? I thought that was the significance of Kinn kissing Porsche on the pier -- ie, it meant that Kiss truly cares for Porsche while he never cared for his boy-toys.

As for "the mark P left on his chin" what do you mean? I think I missed something. Where did that happen?

Actually, I thought it was a bit much for the gun shot wound to have no scar at all. The make up artist should have at least given him a small scar. That type of wound would have left a life-long scar. It's a freaking gun shot wound! I fell off my bike at 13 and scraped my knee and to this day, at 55, I still have the scar. There's a lot of oversights like this in the show, but I let them go cuz I like the show so much overall.

Just re-watched the end of ep 4 (and admit, you've all done the same), and have a question. Just why, exactly, is Vegas standing utterly nude gazing at himself in a full size mirror in a room awash in red light? Is this what we call psycho-sexual narcissism? Or is something else going on?

Well, with the dearth of BLs right now, adorable is better than just plain bad. And the comments below keep trashing it in ways I cannot comprehend. It's a sweet little show. I just don't get the hate. It's far better than the abysmal crap coming out of Thailand that gets better comments. And I really like that they cast Holland, as he's the first and only Korean celeb to have come out of the closet. He's a singer, not an actor, but he's doing a good job. The girl in the show is obnoxious and a real mistake. Her role seems to be what's putting a lot of people off, and I agree with them. I hope to see less of her in future episodes and a lot more of Holland. He's really cool looking.

Ignore the negative comments. This show is adorable and there is definite chemistry between the leads. When the shy chef gazes at the more outgoing, charismatic love interest, you can feel the attraction. And the show does this really nice thing where every time the chef senses his attraction, of which he's not yet aware, there's a cut to a scene of the ocean's waves rolling (the restaurant's located near the ocean -- hence, the show's title).

The first two episodes have set up a situation where the charismatic one is going to help the shy chef get his restaurant business rolling. Thus, the framework of the plot is firmly established. My only criticism is that the episodes are too short -- 15 minutes. Although, thank god, they are releasing two episodes a week. At any rate, please ignore the negative comments about this show; I am truly baffled by them.

Rescue breathing for CPR is not "non consensual kissing." Christ, would you prefer to see people die than to have "non con kissing" in CPR? Do you even know what CPR entails?
