there is a drinking game for Thai bl's. like:engineers - take a shotbeach episode - take a shotaccidental kiss…
Wow, that is fascinating. It shows how they not only stereotype gays, but also stereotype people in the arts as less valuable to society than people in science, tech and business. As an English Professor, I guess I should not be surprised, because I know that many think the field of literature and writing is "useless." Ugh.

lol, the trips to the beach in Thai BL's crack me up. It's like the shows are in business with the country's National Tourism Board promoting vacations to Thailand's beaches. And listen, this is not too far fetched, because there are so many Thai BL's (approx 100 a year) that they are part of Thailand's Gross National Product and a major product for export. As for all the Engineering students, I cannot come up with any theory. I mean, what the hell is that all about?
Watching ep 2 of this made me think of how great BL's are for a drinking game. Invite some friends over, watch 2-3 short BL's, and make a rule that you must do a shot for every "Slip-And-Catch" aka, SAC. There are so many SACs in BL's that you'll all be smashed by the end of the evening (especially if they are Thai BLs, lol).
Why does this say made in Korea when it was clearly made in Thailand? If it were any fluffier it'd be a pussycat's…
Yep, Korea has definitely, like Thailand, discovered the profitability of BL's because they've been pumping out a large number at a surprisingly quick rate this year. And many prove how quickly they've been produced because they are, in a word, bad. But they still don't feel as uniformly mass produced off a factory assembly line as the Thai BL's do because they are, at least, still watchable. I mean, I'll likely keep watching "Love Mate" even though it's mediocre, whereas I won't even start a Thai BL anymore. And then there are even some good K-BL's (eg, Blueming, Semantic Error, Our Dating Sim).
Speaking of Blueming, that director (Blueming, WYEL, TMS) is the only Korean BL director who abstains from the use of a filter and white makeup that hides the beard spots in men's pores. All the other K-BL leads have the complexions of 5 year old boys playing with mommy's base makeup.
the difference between how nao reacted to tane accidentally spilling the drink and how yutaka reacted when he…
There's also the difference in how when she said Minoru should "have his own life" she meant a life without Tane hanging around, while Yutaka understands that a happy life for Minoru means that Tane MUST hang around. In short, Yutaka wants to be part of a life with Minoru that includes Tane, while she wants to be part of a life with Minoru that excludes Tane. Clearly, Minoru is thrilled to have Yutaka's approach after her shitty one.
i'm interested in your viewpoint, because no matter how i try looking at it from your perspective- it doesn't…
I suppose it's just a matter of interpretation and we interpret the signals differently. No harm in that. It's how all art works, because it all relies on the individual's subjective interpretation wherein there is no one, objective, truth. :)
Good show, but it relies far too heavily on flashback scenes. For instance, we've now seen the childhood "You're bad at eating" scene 5 times in what has only been, in total, 1 hour and 40 minutes of screen time so far. We've also seen flashbacks of the supermarket scene 3 times over the course of 2 episodes that were a mere 20 minutes each (and we got it twice in ep 5).
I don't know why the director and film editor do not have more confidence that it's a good story that's moving along logically and, thus, the audience can follow it just fine without these constant reminders of what just happened one mere episode ago. I want to shout at my screen, "Guys, I remember this, and since I like these characters I want to know what happens next. So move it forward without all these darn flashbacks!"

I'm curious as to why you said he didn't have a good reason to be around the guy with the panic disorder. After all, he was the piano player where the other one is a singer. Sure, he's also been intentionally putting himself in the singer's presence, but it's not like he's stalking him. Indeed, he's pursuing him much like any person would who likes another person. Men who've liked me in the past commonly act like this: eg, they try to find reasons to be near me, ask me to dinner, send flowers, etc.
Now, this guy seems to realize that the singer has some sort of anxiety, but I don't think he sees himself as exacerbating it. And if he did, he'd feel awful and stop it. In short, I don't mind the depiction of this character. To be clear, I get it if you see this differently, so I'm not fighting you on it. I'm merely saying that it's just as easy to see the piano player's behavior as perfectly innocent.
Why did they give Seung Jun such an unflattering hairstyle? It does nothing for him. I’m still more interested…
I HATE when Korean men have bangs and then part them in the middle. If you part the hair in the middle, then you should brush both sides back and not let it hang in bangs. Or, if you hang the hair over the forehead in bangs, then let ALL the hair hang over the forehead in one line of complete bangs, don't part it. Because when they part the bangs it looks like some nerdy 10 year old whose mom styled his hair.
As for the roommate, yep, I'm also more interested. He's the hottest guy in the show! lol
The release strategy of two 20-,minute eps. per week, one day apart, is baffling to me. What is accomplished by…
Agree with all of this. The lead with the panic disorder is actually the weakest actor in the show and his depiction of mental illness is pretty lame (I assume he's only in this because he's an idol who knows how to sing, because he certainly cannot act). But even if his depiction of mental illness is lame, I'm still glad to see a depiction of it at all in a Korean show. After all, it's good to see Koreans depicting this in a way that normalizes it and shows medications in a way that decreases the taboo that country clearly still has for mental illness and attendant medications.
I also like that the show includes characters who are all gay at the outset instead of that bullshit with them having previously had girlfriends because, oh, you know, they are really straight, but now just gay for one guy. I loathe the "I'm really straight but just gay for you" because, no, that does not exist in nature. One is either gay, bisexual or hetero. If you are gay or bi, then you like multiple penises. If you are hetero, then you like no penises. Hence, it's either multiple penises, or no penises. There's no such thing as liking only ONE penis in the whole world cuz you are "straight but just gay for you." Now, one may not have realized they were bi until some gay guy turned them onto it, in which case they would henceforth like multiple penises. But, again, it would not be a case of "only gay for YOU in the whole world." That does not exist in nature.
Trust me, I'm a hetero female who tried it out with a gay female in my college days, and found I simply did not like a vadge. I liked this woman, but it was not a case of "I don't like vadges, but I like only your vadge in the whole world." Nope, I do not like any vadges. Because I am inherently hetero. That's what it means to be hetero. Just as liking both is what it means to be bi, or liking the same sex's is what it means to be gay. At any rate, I wish the authors of BL's would read up on the actual science of sexual behavior before writing these things.
I agree with live and let live and blocking people you don't like, but if he got banned then he must have done…
Yes, I agree about the difference between commenting on a person, and on a show. But listen, I've had people call me "stupid" and an "idiot" for my opinions on shows and, while it annoys me to have teenage fangirls call me stupid when I hold a PhD from an Ivy League, I let it go. I certainly never report them.
So I got curious after this thread yesterday and actually asked MDL about their policy for banning and discovered they are just like Facebook. That is to say, they only ban temporarily for about 2 weeks. I guess this is why this guy was able to come back under different names before, and which is why I suppose he'll be back again. But only the bans are temporary, while the deletion of a racist or homophobic comment is permanent -- and this makes sense. At any rate, I'll just wait till they unban him, and ask him to cool his jets with the personal comments and stick to the shows hereon.
I do have to ask, though, did you really have to post this comment on a drama page instead of your timeline on…
What do you mean by timeline profile? I have to look for that. But I already looked for him around facebook and I'm sure I'll find him. I know the college, state of residence and first name. thanks!
OMG, I noticed that long haired co-worker both times they showed him, however briefly. He's scorching hot. I can…
I totally agree about the Japanese tendency to overact. I loved Cherry Magic, but did not like the performance of the guy in glasses, who waaay overacted. And yep, we saw it in Mr. Unlucky Has No Choice but to kiss also. I think Mr. Naked, however, is not entirely overacting so much as playing it light. There's a very fine line between the two, but I can totally see how he would cross that line in some people's eyes.
Seems like this isn’t a good show for you then as the food and cooking it is how they’re falling in love with…
I wonder if the show's title and MDL plot description overplayed the naked angle. Because I get the sense that the grandmother is going to be more pivotal in this plot than the nakedness. After all, it was her time capsule letter that motivated Mr. Naked to come to the village from Tokyo, and Mr. Vegetable knew and loved Mr. Naked's grandmother. She also keeps showing up in flashbacks. Thus, my prediction is that the plot will rely more on her.
At the risk at being in the minority, which I would never care about anyway lol, I don't find anything attractive…
OMG, I noticed that long haired co-worker both times they showed him, however briefly. He's scorching hot. I can also see how the short one would appeal to some people. But Mr. Naked is just more my type. I also like his personality. He brings a certain light hearted whimsy to the role. And let's face it, this is not a plotline that one could play without a bit of whimsy and fun.
Light on Me and Choco Milkshake (not just wiped but kissed the icing from the face Lol)
Icing reminds me of something somebody here told me about a BL set during Covid where the guys could not go out to buy lube, so they used icing instead, lol . I cannot remember what BL it was, but yuk, I would not want anything that sticky near my private parts.
It's a very common trope in other genres as well.https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RomanceInducingSmudge
lol. But what I wanna know about is all the sponge baths! You see Asian guys in BL's giving others a sponge bath for things like drunkeness (eg, Waterboyy). A wet sponge will not make you less drunk or reduce a hangover, so that cracks me up. I wonder if they really give that many sponge baths in Asia or if it's just these BL's.
It's a very common trope in other genres as well.https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RomanceInducingSmudge
Yea, that makes sense. I mean, it's such a good gesture for a budding romance either hetero or gay . It's just that I watch so many BL's that I know the BL tropes best, lol.
