Yes, but 3 of those 14 minutes were the guy singing, rather than giving us plot. So we actually had only 11 minutes of the show. Why can't the K-BL's put out a decent length episode?

I liked that the show portrayed anti-depressants because such ailments are still stigmatized in Korea. It helps change social attitudes when the media portrays mentally ill people as simply having an illness for which they need meds -- no different than any other physical illness. Korea needs to remove the stigma from mental illness so that people won't be ashamed to seek treatment. As it stands, they have the #1 highest suicide rate. And when it comes to Korean idols, Christ, those poor kids are killing themselves once a week. Literally. Because this month, two of them killed themselves in the very same week.

Did the idols discuss suicide or depression at all? Because he's the 2nd Korean celeb in his 20's to kill himself this week. A 26 year old actress also killed herself 4 days before him . It's a freaking epidemic there, and they NEED to start a national conversation and make public service announcements as well as implement "wellness checks" as part of their medical professions standard procedure. Alas, right now whenever a celeb kills themselves, the agencies rush to hush it up.

BL's are so profitable for Thailand that they are among its Gross National Products. They put out close to a 100 a year. Of course, that is also why they suck. They are factory made off an assembly line. Terrible actors, lousy scripts and just cute boys tossed together on a set where they read a teleprompter and kiss a couple times. Kinn/Porsche had some better acting, but even that one got hokey. But the ones from GMMTV are the absolute worst, so it's odd that they would get high ratings. I would not be surprised if they skewer ratings. After all, studios have teams to put out fake social media stories, so why not have people also enter ratings on sites like this?

I love how all these people immediately recognize you! You clearly have a distinctive voice. Moreover, you are not afraid to go against the tide when you dislike something. That may cause many to block you but, hey, many clearly think you're a hoot as well!

Do the Thai shows get higher ratings because they get more viewers on average? They do international promotions, kick ass marketing, tons of fanservice and even do their own subbing instead of relying on fansubbers. All of this yields a higher viewership, which might result in a higher rating. The J-BL's, conversely, don't promote, market or sub for international audiences and their viewership is always smaller, with ratings lower than they deserve.

BTW, I agree down the line about this show. I am watching for the long, lean sleek dude to get naked. I also like how he plays it with a sense of whimsy and is not asking us to take this seriously. I dislike the short, chubby one and sure as hell don't want to see him naked. Nor even kissing. Why do they keep casting this kid in BLs? He's in Naked Diner, Man Who Defied BL and Cherry Magic. And they are big roles in all of them.

I am more open to heteros going gay in all these BL's cuz I know you say it's more possible than we know. But I also consider your experience wherein you knew you liked men even as a kid and simply hid it cuz it was repressive in Kansas back then. Wouldn't these guys have known this about themselves earlier? And what's up with the BL trope of only being gay for "one" guy? If you like a penis, then you like most of them, not just one, right?

I didn't care for a single one of those T-BL's you listed. I preferred censored C-BL's like Advance Bravely, His Cat and Precise Shot. As for Hong Kong, they haven't done anything since a remake of Ossan's Love. I don't know of any Singapore BL's

I'm only tuning in to see his long, lean, hairless body. I also like the light whimsy he gives his character. But I don't know if I'll last for 12 eps at 4 hours of just a naked dude. Naked eating is too thin a premise to stretch over 4 hours.

I know you liked HIStory 4. But I didn't even buy the side couple's hetero going gay for a fujoshi. I could let stepbrothers and drunken sex go, but that younger brother was still creepy and nasty to everyone around him. He and his bro did have heat however, I'll grant you that. The younger brother's obsession gave it heat. As for Naked, the biggest problem is that I find the delivery kid sexually unappealing. He's short and plump. It makes no sense, given that the naked guy is all long, lean limbs and quite nice looking.

I at least finished HIStory 4 . But people hated the time travel one so much that I didn't even bother trying it. That franchise just keeps dropping in quality. Indeed, T-BL's are dropping while K-BL's are rising. The J-BL's have been consistent in quality. The V-BL's are coming along, but have no budgets. The same could be said for P-BL's. We already talked about Th-BL's. And C-BL's are really bromances (though some are quite good, eg, "His Cat" and "Precise Shot" where the boys were obviously in love). So that's my summary of Asian BL's. Did I miss any? lol

HIStory 4 was Dark Blue Midnight, or something, right? About the guys who met at the pool? Those guys were both assholes. But HIStory 5 was the real "what the fuck?" with stalking, drugging your beloved to have sex with him, and then hooking up permanently with the guy who shares the same parents as you. Unlike other stepbrothers, they grew up in the same house and called both parents "mom and dad." That's brothers to me, which means incest.

I miss the old days of T-BL's like the HIStory Series. I especially loved Crossing the Line about the volleyball players. Alas, now T-BL's are just as full of "slip and catch" with interminable stares as the Th-BL's.

I didn't mind it because the whole show is being played for laughs. The director is not asking us to take any of this seriously. Now, if they were shooting for realism then, yes, I'd grant you that this was annoyingly dumb to do.

They really are good this year. Some fail, but very few. A lot more K-BL's fail on average. And now even T-BL's have gotten weak. The Th-BL's have always been factory assembly line crap. But the Japanese, man, they are so original! Who else would give 12 eps on a guy who eats naked?

If we're gonna look at a naked body for 12 episodes, then let's thank the casting director for choosing such a yummy body! Tall, sleek and slender.
