I know Souta does not recognize Mahira, but how do we know that Mahiro recognizes Souta? He hasn't indicated this (or did he?) I need to rewatch to see if I missed it.

I hear you on finding him insulting and don't begrudge anyone who blocks him. Hey, people should be able to block whomever they want. But most of my communication with him is in private message and that does not bother any else, right? So when I was in the middle of a convo and it got cut off cuz of the ban, it felt like I myself was being cut off too, cuz I had no other contact info. My convo just -- poof! -- disappeared right in the middle. I wasn't fighting with anyone, yet it felt like I was kind of being punished too. Does that make sense?

Yes, you guys are correct about using a different forum. I will see about using facebook because that's a pretty open forum with ways of searching people based on location, college name, etc.

It's because I have no other way to reach him. I was in the middle of a convo about these great movies about Japan's role in WWII when it got cut off. That was frustrating. I thought, wait, now how the hell do I finish this convo? Now, I should've gotten his contact info last time, but I am pretty old (55) and just don't think in terms of getting people's social media contacts as readily as young people do. I guess I will have to start doing this from now on.

I noted how Jae Won wiped food from Ji Hyun's face in an early episode and I rather like this trope (it's a way of hinting you like somebody without committing too far to it). But I'm wondering if this is just a BL trope, or one seen in hetero romances too. Because I have seen it in 5 different BL's, including:

Exactly. That was his ONLY comment yesterday. And it was strictly about the show itself, while he did not say one word to anyone personally. But someone from yesterday's thread read that I said he changed his name (which I did not give publicly), so they contacted MDL to have him tracked and banned again. He used to recommend the best Japanese historical films to me too, but now I can't converse with him anymore. I wish the pro-censorship crowd could see that censorship sucks because it doesn't limit just their own engagement with the world, but limits other people's engagement as well.

I'm an English Professor and delight in intellectual discussions like this. And listen, this guy really knows Japanese history. Guys, can you please stop getting SnowRegrets banned? He did not even make any public comments yesterday and only messaged me and a couple of other people, yet you guys had him banned again. He and I share an avid interest in Japanese Cinema and MDL is supposed to be for Asian Cinema, not just BL's. This week we were sharing thoughts on Japanese films about WWII. Why can't I share thoughts like this with someone who's deeply versed in Japanese history? If you don't like him, just block him. When you ban somebody, however, it's not fair to those who like the person. Hummm.... now I am genuinely worried that you guys will get me banned too just for asking you, well, to stop banning people.

I see nothing with Pudgy Face and only watched it for the sleek, tall one who's hot naked. At least the director knew which guy to cast in the naked role. I certainly do not want to see Pudgy Face naked.

LOL, threads are like real life convos and evolve in the oddest ways to unexpected places. This one took us to a guy on whom people on MDL are split. Some of us find him funny, while others find him offensive and had him banned. Someone was worried about being banned for disliking Eighth Sense and I told her she had a good reason to worry, cuz people banned the guy I knew here. That's what started this other tangent.

As for the Eighth Sense, I agree with you that the cutesy dialogue overpowered the artistic merit. I also found some of the plot points to be missing, such as why Jae Won suddenly decides to stop ghosting Ji Hyun. That was never explained.

Yep, agree again. I think you and I perhaps have a different mindset because we're older. The demographic for BL's is an average age of 25. You and I are both double that. Yikes!

LOL, Turds Out Of Thailand. So true! I also can't abide any more Thai BL's. They crank out new ones twice a week. I saw an article recently stating that they made 100 last year. You can't do quality when you're pumping out crap that fast.

I think it's part denial, and also if you're bi, you can sublimate desire for the same sex by going after the opposite sex. As you said, I think bi is more common than we realize. But what does not exist is this BL trope of "I'm not really gay, just gay for you." What, there's only one man in the world whose penis you like? Otherwise, it's all women for you? Dude, if you like penis, then you like more than one, lol. I also dislike the "I'm not really gay just gay for you" cuz it suggests, however obliquely, that there's something wrong with just being gay. Odd that BL's have this middling approach instead of just coming out with it and positing that a character is either gay or bi and there's nothing wrong with either.
