To people coming here wondering if they should watch this drama... please take the score and the reviews with…
I agree! I also take into account the user's DL and often also the age to see if the taste is similar before considering to follow their recommendations.
There's way too many rant reviews recently, both for incomprehensibly low and high ratings.
Although Joseon Gunman didn't quite meet my insanely high expectations, it's still a great drama, certainly way better than average. I really don't get why there are so many extremely negative comments O.o I'd recommend it readily!
seriously extra marital affairs has become a fashion now. http://mydramalist.com/10447-hirugao - hirugao and this…
I think you missunderstood my comment (or I yours), because I pretty much agree that Hirugao is the way better drama because its characters feel like real people that you can understand, which is not the case in Dousousei.
But you can't assume that someone with kids and/or a beautiful spouse won't ever have an affair. That's not how life works! Affairs happen in every country and Japan is no exception. As much as I love Japan, they also have a culture of covering things up and denying them, so maybe that's why you didn't come across too many cheaters in dramaland so far.
Does anyone know of any dramas similar to this one?
Yeah, I don't actually want to outright recommend Garasu no Ie (balance between political plot and romance is off) or Second Virgin (female lead gets annoying). It's more out of a lack of others of the same genre. If you're in the mood for such a drama, they'll probably be enjoyable though.
I agree that the husband is too creepy in Garasu no Ie!

If you're searching for something like Hirugao, you shouldn't watch this one though. The overall feeling of Dousousei is completely different - were Hirugao is intense, blunt and sensitive, this show is cautious, forced and absolutely bland.

I just finished Dousousei and I wouldn't recommend it. It lacks anything resembling intensity and none of the characters managed to draw me in. For a drama with two couples with an affair, it's kind of amazing how it managed to be so little about affairs. I'm sure that in about 1 month this will fade from my memory completely, like Dosokai, that other drama with the same plot.
If it's intense, dark, forbidden extramaritial love then Garasu no Ie and Second Virgin come to mind, though none of them is nearly as good as Hirugao.
Utsukushii Rinjin (and to a lesser extend also it's spinoff Saki) also has an affair at the center, but it's from the view of the wife and takes a completely different approach.
Also, if you're into forbidden love in general, you might like Kou Kou Kyoushi 2003 (also with Ueto Aya) and Majo no Jouken. Both are teacher-student.
Woah the trailler was amazing but why do I get the feeling this is one of those dramas where the teaser is a lot…
I think this show is pretty badly written. There's many scenes which should carry a certain emotional punch but the writing fails to build them up properly, so they just fall flat without any tension. Two of the main characters absolutely can't act and the directing often confuses me. Yet, it's somehow strangely addicting.
I hated the trailer, so if you liked it, then maybe your taste is converse to mine and you'll love the show =)
I also liked ep 1-2 a lot less than the rest though xD
I thought he was a girl on that cover picture... Sort of want to watch it for Kamiki and Nikaido Fumi but I hate…
'Bland' is exactly what I thought about Henshin xD The idea is interesting, but the follow-up falls flat.
I did like the characters (though it's totally true they lack dimension), but everything feels used and pretty standard. Nothing fresh here. The 'mystery' is not even mysterious.
(And the medical stuff annoyed me to no end. If you're gonna throw some keywords out there, at least google what they mean before!)

It's not like that ruins everything, but I hoped for something more, especially because I enjoyed the rest so much.
Like Jin Gu and Se Young calling their boss Gap Dong behind his back, hehe.
