I'm not suggesting that this movie is brilliant by any means, but I personally found it quite fun and entertaining. If you're looking for a standard enemies to lovers Rom Com (with the understanding that it contains some very explicit sex scenes) then this movie is worth a look. Score: 7½/10
Fu Pei is a d1ck. He's an arrogant, entitled creep. Wang Shan needs her head examined for choosing him. Gu Wei Yi is quite immature himself, spending considerable amounts of time sulking. Is Si Tu Mo really going to be happy with such a sulky man-child? Lin Yi could probably do with some acting lessons too, as he displayed a total of one facial expression (i.e. blank) during the entire series.
Started off cute and entertaining, but started to get draggy, with long periods of not much happening. If Yang Yang was intending to portray a cardboard cutout of a human being, then his performance was brilliant. However, I suspect what I was witnessing was his limited acting ability. I also found the character of Xiao Nai quite controlling, (politely) ording Bei Wei Wei around and (politely) chastising her publicaly quite often. He came off as a bit of a dick in my opinion. I'm not sure whether Chinese audiences think it is romantic for a male to be in charge of the female, but I personally found it cringy. Anyway, I dropped the drama about half way through.
I absolutely love the show, but I'm finding the stalky, manipulative behaviour of Ye Lu Ming quite disturbing. He's a toxic, narcissistic gaslighter, and I keep hoping that He Fan Xing wakes up to his manipulation and tells him where to go.
No competent writer would include a psychopathic male lead who manipulates his victim into a relationship, in a fluffy rom-com. Sure, this plot idea would be fine in a dark thriller, and perhaps even in an adult melodrama, but FFS, not in a fluffy rom-com.
A (mostly) cute and (mostly) fun show. The story is silly, the writing is less than brilliant (although that may in part be due to the translation) and the acting is quite, actually VERY amateur, with the exception of Amy Sun, who plays her role really well. Don't go into it expecting to see anything that's going to win an Emmy (or the Chinese equivalent). If you just watch it for what it is, and ignore the occassional toxic behaviour from Si Tu Feng and Lin Yi Yang, you'll be entertained.

I was intending to type a lengthy rebuttal, but when I saw that you had the ability to read my mind to discover that I really only "claim" that I am not a prude, when in actual fact I apparently am one, well I decided not to bother. I've learned that arguing with people who think they know my mind better than I do is rather pointless.

I don't disagree, but you have seemed to have missed my point. I'm not suggesting that the sex scenes could have been completely removed from the movie without hurting the story telling. I'm just suggesting they were unecessarily explicit for the purposes of the plot. This suggests to me that satisfying the voyeuristic desires of a certain proportion of the ticket purchasing public was at least a consideration.
This movie was reasonably entertaining, but certainly no masterpiece. The acting was mostly very good and both the cinematography and costumes were excellent. I found the story held my interest, but there were a few plot holes that diminished it in my opinion. There was quite a bit of nudity and several very explicit sex scenes, so be aware of that before you watch it. My score is 7.5/10.
GREAT movie! Wow.Shin Ha Kyun moves higher up my list of best mainstream feature film actors with every additional…
Obviously this movie isn't "nothing but sex", but there are a lot of sex scenes, and some of them are extremely, and unecessarily (for the purposes of plot) explicit. By my count, the leads engage in 8 different sexual positions, including them both performing oral sex on each other. Several scenes are indistinguishable from softcore porn.
Now, before you call me a prude, I enjoyed the sex scenes, and would have been happy if they were longer and even more explicit. Kan Han-Na is smoking hot, and as a heterosexual male, I quite enjoy looking at her naked body. I'm just making the point that the movie would not have been diminished if the sex scenes were shorter or less explicit.
Considering how conservative the country is, I'm surprised that some South Korean actresses, agree to do such explicit scenes that their parents, friends, children and grandchildren may one day watch.
This drama is excellent - easily one of the best I've ever seen. The first half was ridiculously cute, and the second half got a little more serious. I have a few minor issues that I'm not even going to mention here - but it is a solid 9.5/10 from me.
Premise was good. Execution - not so much. Why is it that (almost) all LGBTQI films have a sad ending? It's almost like the film makers think that it is a prerequisite or something.
I'm watching King the land ( which is a pure flop btw) and I keep being nostalgic thinking about the Secretary…
Whereas I really liked "King the Land" but dropped "What's Wrong With Secretary Kim" because I found the Park Seo Joon's character so toxic. I really wanted to like it, because I'm a big Park Seo Joon and Park Min Young fan. But I just couldn't tolerate the toxicity. Also, "Business Proposal" is in my top 5 all time K-Dramas.
Park Seo Joon's character was so toxic, I just couldn't finish the show. Which is a shame, because I'm a big fan of both Park Seo Joon and Park Min Young and really wanted to like the show.
