This drama is excellent - easily one of the best I've ever seen. The first half was ridiculously cute, and the second half got a little more serious. I have a few minor issues that I'm not even going to mention here - but it is a solid 9.5/10 from me.
Premise was good. Execution - not so much. Why is it that (almost) all LGBTQI films have a sad ending? It's almost like the film makers think that it is a prerequisite or something.
I'm watching King the land ( which is a pure flop btw) and I keep being nostalgic thinking about the Secretary…
Whereas I really liked "King the Land" but dropped "What's Wrong With Secretary Kim" because I found the Park Seo Joon's character so toxic. I really wanted to like it, because I'm a big Park Seo Joon and Park Min Young fan. But I just couldn't tolerate the toxicity. Also, "Business Proposal" is in my top 5 all time K-Dramas.
Park Seo Joon's character was so toxic, I just couldn't finish the show. Which is a shame, because I'm a big fan of both Park Seo Joon and Park Min Young and really wanted to like the show.
The ML's extreme rudeness, agressiveness and unprofessional behaviour really spoiled this for me. I just don't enjoy watching a man humiliate a woman, especially one that he knows has mental health issues.
Not brilliant, but also not terrible. Loved seeing a very young Gong Hyo Jin. Interesting that as a very young actress (22 years old), Gong Hyo Jin was able to do a no-nude sex scene, when so many other young Korean actresses trying to make a name for themselves agree to highly explicit sex scenes.
That second sex scene was just ridiculous. I thought I was watching naked gymnastics there for a while. The "schoolgirl" in this movie is the Hotel Manager in "King The Land". https://kisskh.at/726273-king-the-lander
Watchable, but certainly not a great movie. Acting was generally pretty good, but the story was average and the editing was quite poor in places. The highlight of the movie for me was Oh Ha-Nee's first sex scene - she is gorgeous. I might be in love.
If that is a "realistic" portrayal of the average Korean work environment, then remind me to never go to Korea to work. Basically everyone with any sort of authority over any one else acts like a bully, yelling at them like they are a naughty child, or worse. The sexism and misogyny is just off the charts. There just seems to be a complete absence of professionalism or maturity in the work place. I personally found the constant (and I mean CONSTANT) angst of watching subordinates being relentlessly persecuted by their superiors too much and not enjoyable to watch. Now, this doesn't mean the show isn't well acted and well shot ... it is. But it's just not enjoyable (for me) to watch the constant suffering. Five episodes were all I could tolerate before I quit.
The movie itself was watchable, but far from great. But my biggest gripe is how the writers thought it would be a good idea to have the character of Joon Seok rape his girlfriend Yeon Hee, and she chose to stay with him after that. She clearly stated that she didn't want sex, she told him to stop when he was raping her, and even told him that she was in pain. He ignored her clear indication of not consenting to the sexual activity, and simply continued. Normalising rape in a relationship is not acceptable in my opinion, and its very dissappointing that the writer(s) thinks differently.
