Up to Ep 5 and quite enjoying it. However, I'm finding the coercive behaviour of the ML quite creepy. Why do writer(s) think it is "romantic" to have a male in power use that power to control a female subordinate for his gratification. Is that seen as acceptable in China? Now up to Ep 10 and still enjoying it, but also still finding the manipulative and controlling behaviour of the ML disturbing. After watching him getting her drunk at the work event, and then forcefully kissing her while she is drunk, I've concluded that the ML is an immature d!ck. Then, when the ML was going to leave the FL on the side of the road KNOWING she had no money, no phone and no home, just to coerce her into confessing to him, AND then when he extracts that forced confession, he again threatens to abandon her (without money/phone/home) in order to force her to live with him, he's progressed from immature d!ck to f_cking psychopath. Toxic, controlling behaviour like this should be a major red flag to any woman. This show is quickly turning from a cute rom com to something much creepier. I'm hoping the ML redeems himself soon or I'll be dropping this show. Nope - I can't do it any more. There is soooooo much wrong with the ML. He is an immature, arrogant, manipulative, controlling jerk. The FL is a doormat. Their "relationship" is completely dysfunctional, borderline abusive (psychologically, not physically). I'm dumbfounded that so many reviewers and commenters apparently have no problem with any of this. Lastly, the actor playing the ML is TERRIBLE. He may as well be a cardboard cutout of a person.
I think, the FL needs to work on her expression, I have watched her other works too, her facial expression remains…
Even though I've been enjoying Chinese dramas more than Korean dramas in recent months, I have to say that on average, Korean actors are MUCH better than Chinese actors.
Why on earth did Ai Jia say that sexist shit in the interview of the beginning of the last episode? It seemed…
I agree it was a bit weird, considering his girlfriend (and boss) is the best friend of the woman he just attacked with his misogny. I'm critical of the wirter(s) of this show for occassionally making otherwise good people (including Lu Si Cheng) inexplicably but temporarily turn into misognistic d!cks. Characters acting out of character is a product of poor writing.
I really enjoyed the show, but I was disappointed that the writer decided to make Lu Si Cheng act like an immature, even misogynistic d!ck towards Tong Yao from time to time. For me it was quite jarring to have him jump back and forth between being loving and respectful towards Tong Yao, and being a d!ck towards her. Perhaps its a Chinese thing where being bossy and rude is somehow romantic. On another point, there was little evidence of chemistry between the leads, at least to my eyes. Even when they were kissing, they didn't look like two young people who were physically attracted to each other. They just looked like brother and sister most of the time. Perhaps this just reflected limitations in the lead actor's acting skills.
Super Sweet ... as in you risk getting diabetes from watching it. I thoroughly enjoyed it, even though it was very short and made on a tiny budget with inexperienced actors. There was a lot that could be improved, BUT I DON'T CARE. I will happily take whateve GL content I can, and I am thankful to these small Thai studios who are producing these shows. I look forward to the day there are GL dramas of "Nextflix" budget and quality, but we are not there yet.
I found that episode confusing. With the jumping back and forth between different time periods, it wasn't always clear when it was "now" or some time in the past.
This drama screams pedophile from every corner. IDW but I am still enjoying it. Should I laugh or should I cry?
He's not a pedophile as she isn't a pre-pubescent child, but she is a minor. But as a teacher, he is grooming her, which as well as being professionally extremely innappropriate, would be illegal in most (and perhaps all) Western countries. As an ex-teacher myself, I find myself conflicted watching this, with the cringe I feel over the innappropriateness of their "relationship" wrestling with the happiness I get watching two broken people grow closer and heal each other. I'm choosing to ignore the cringe and focus on the happy feelings because I'm actually really enjoying this show.
I'm really enjoying the show, but as a retired teacher myself, I'm still struggling with the inappropriateness of a teacher having a relationship with a minor, who is his student. In most Western countries, this would not only be frowned on, it would lead to the dismissal of the teacher and probably also criminal charges (depending on the specific allegations). But I'm choosing to ignore the cringe I'm feeling as I really am enjoying the show.
This is a really good drama - one of the best I've ever seen. Brilliant acting. It is a more mature/realstic story than many dramas I've watched. My only complaint is that it is a little slower than it needed to be. It is much better than the score (currently 7.7) would suggest.
Thanks for letting me know. I'm very curious as to why it might have that rating, because from what I've seen so far, it looks very much like a 13+ show to me (admittedly its after only one episode). Also, its on YouTube, and an 18+ show would breach YouTube's community guidelines.
Can anyone please tell me what this video is rated on WeTV? I can't see because its geoblocked in my country. I'm just wondering why MDL has this as an 18+ show.
I've just finished it, and I absolutely loved it. This drama is in my top 2 all time dramas (out of about 150 watched). It's just so good to see a drama nail the ending. I've never rewatched a drama before, but I'm sure at some point in the future I will rewatch this.
I'm just about to start watching episode #1. I see that someone has put this show as 18+ Restricted here on kisskh. I really doubt this series will be that explicit (but certainly wouldn't have a problem if it was). Anyway, time to watch it ... Back the next day after watching it. Simply put, I LOVED it., Yes, I could point out numerous things that could have been done better, but I don't care. For me, its about the joy I get watching the show, and I really enjoyed it a lot.
Quite an enjoyable Rom Com, although I thought the love triangle was unnecessarily long and angsty. I also didn't like the extremely toxic, misogynistic behaviour of character Yong Soo Cheol when he publicly humiliated Ban Ji Yun early in the drama. Anyone who would behave like that is a disgraceful piece of sh!t, and I have to seriously question Jung Eun Chae's judgement in choosing to go out with him knowing how he treated Ban Ji Yun.
Lee Doo-Na is a walking red flag. She is toxic, rude , narcissistic and completely devoid of empathy. I think it's best (at least for Lee Won-Jun) that they didn't end up together. With regards to the drama itself, it started off quiet well, but in my opinon went down hill in the later episodes. I had to force myself to finish the last two episodes to be honest.
16 year olds behaving much more maturely than the vast majority of adults portrayed in dramas. It just goes to show that you don't need stupid amounts of angst or a serial killer sub-plot to make an enjoyable romantic comedy. Korean drama writers, for the love of god, please take notice.
