He is just there to be manipulated. In the novel the emperor has a presence but the drama? No presence, temperament, or aura of an emperor or any high ranking official. I thought it was a good way to show that he is just a puppet put on the throne to be used by the family who put him there it’s why he can’t make any decisions or you see him looking toward Wei for what to do.

I really love that the drama does a good job at showing instead of telling. The emperor? He is a puppet to manipulate and it’s easy to tell he’s a puppet bc doesn’t look or hav a temperament of an emperor let alone any high official. Just basically no aura lol

I always referred to him as the little Sui brother and that is what I feel sorry for. He had familial love and is “soft-hearted” to his family and the betrayal of someone he looked up to and admired. It’s something all these “villains” didn’t have AND for that he is just plain evil which makes him a true villain. All the other “villains” have a “what if” chance…. it’s something in their life that made them what they are. The “what if” is the moment that changed their trajectory never happened. I don’t know about the Li family… I’m thinking so far they are just greedy power hungry family.

I absolutely adore this drama. The way EVERY SINGLE character is written and the actors who brought them to life.

I watch on Netflix so it’s ongoing for me. I rely on subtitles and apparently the leaks subtitles being auto generated would just confuse me. Plus I was never bothered by one episode a day bc I barely have time to watch. It gave me a deadline to watch before the next episode comes out lol

The gourd has multiple meanings like fertility, good fortune, unity. Red symbolizes marriage and prosperity. The thread is binding the couple so a red thread is like invisible red thread theory of couple tied to tether were destined to be together

In the novel is in charge of a small group, not a general yet just one of the many chosen to lead small groupa. The drama does make it look like she took a random group 💀 the drama left out a lot of her growth where we she her sparring with others and it’s how General He saw her use her fathers movements

Also I need her in more roles of her fighting!!! Her moves are so clean and sharp! In the bts videos it’s so swift and clean and to see the final cut it’s just as clean and sharp without the fantastic camera work

The cut a lot out of the battle. In the novel by the time she reached Luocheng General He was on his last leg and she and others were able to help him back behind the gates. General He refuses to tended to so he stood ridged as to give moral support to the soldiers. As the battle wears on and it looked like they were losing she and her group as well as other people who live there are willing to join the battle to hold them off as much as possible bc Xie Zheng and his army was on the way. Besides trying to hold on and keep the flag up, I think Wei suicide assassin army came and targeted Changyu.

Yes both 31 and 32. Since you only in watched 31 I’ll mention that one. Besides the memorial, royal decree Lord Li coming to grovel that happened after the Luocheng battle. The the rest was before the battle especially with her stressing all the tutors when they tried to teach her. In the novel she didn’t blindly go into battle, the advisors were sent to teach her the art of war.

In the novel she knows how to read in the sense that she recognizes some common characters from daily life (numbers, goods, simple words). She was teaching Bao’er basic characters like practical things like counting, names, and common terms. She tries to teach Ning Ning but she has no interest and just wants to be a butcher like her sister. Changyu explains that you need to know those thing to become a butcher. Ning Ning doesn’t get the motivation to learn until she sees Changyu teaching Bao’er. The little ones in the novel were always trying to one up the other. She has knowledge but just not full literacy.

Even her not being teachable in the drama with all this hired tutors. In the novel she can’t adapt to their rigid, traditional teaching style. Her personality is too straightforward and independent, so the lessons don’t fully “stick.”

Yan Zheng understands her and helps in a way that suits her by annotating the books in a more practical outlook.

The drama makes her illiterate but in the recent episode she can read but her comprehension isn’t great. The changes the screenwriter makes just aren’t consistent

I rely on subtitles and from what people said it’s horrible. I am also someone who was never bothered by the one episode a day lol the only time I can watch it is during breakfast, lunch or dinner. Today I managed to squeeze in episode 30 and almost finished 31 this morning because I had a late start but I plan to rewatch 31 at lunch time. I’m not someone who watches Chinese drama much I’m watching this on Netflix

Also anyone noticed the change in hair, makeup and even voice in Changyu? 👏🏼 the character development and the physical aspect to match.

I mentioned before that 29-30 was basically to explain the political landscape and its people and they just condensed and breezed through Luocheng battle (assuming bc of time constraints). Viewers were jarred and confused and felt it was choppy. Now catching up to 31-32… all these things happened before the battle at Luocheng. The change in order of things in the drama so far didn’t bother me but this one did. Either way besides 29 & 30 I am back to enjoying the drama so far

The princess and clumsy couple is cute… and her being petty and using Li Huai An to make him jealous lol

The drama has been showing the scenes out of order. The acknowledgment of her lack of military knowledge and even bringing people in to help teach her happens as part of her growth to becoming a General happened before the Luocheng battle in episode 30. I’m going to assume we’ll probably see her sparring and growing her martial arts/combat skill… if so it was done before the Luocheng battle.Also the novel made her illiterate. The girl was smart and was even teaching Ningning to read.

Okay. As I continue episode 31 I guess Li Huai An genuinely sees clearly now. Okay I guess I like how the screen writer changed his character

Li Huai An… I don’t know how I feel about the drama version lol in the novel he is used as a pawn so he was a bad egg and at his moment I did sympathize for him and thought he was cowardly. In the drama he took over another character so his storyline gave him a redemption with General He taking him under his wing to avoid being a pawn. Also screen writer using Changyu’s action to solidify his character still sticking with General He (for now) when pressured by both Li and Wei side. I mentioned “for now” bc when he was pledging to follow in General He’s the tone in that moment makes me think his thought might not match his pledge and him saying later his and Changyu’s ties end there. NOW he out here groveling… real or ulterior motive lol

Today is the last day for two episodes and the rest will be one a day. Sucks that those site just uploaded it all and uses a machine translation. Hopefully they’ll update after each release. I’ve been watching this on Netflix and even then the subtitles are off there and there lol

I’m not denying it. It helps bc I’ve seen ppl confused who is who as the different power struggles. We are getting closer to the action of the struggle
