The screenwriter was great at building up characters and storyline that I agree with others needing more that 40 episodes to keep that momentum but sadly we are limited. So it’ll be interesting to see how things progress.

Okay, I have some major gripes now with Xie Zheng. He practically sacrificed the thousand men General He loaned…
“If XZ keeps this kind of generaling up I'm shipping Changyu with Li Huai An.” Li Huai An is definitely no better lol in the novel he sees all these infighting especially the power manipulation his family is doing and rationalizing they it’s a sacrifice that is needed. They’re all the same mindset of willing to sacrifice innocent ppl and even turning them against each other “for the greater good”

I am probably in the minority, and I don’t mind—everyone is entitled to share their opinion.I really like…
If you don’t like the ML bc he is cold, you won’t like the novel. The ml in the novel is a lot colder and it’s why I had my reservation on Linghe casting bc he didn’t have that cold face I imaged the character. The drama softened up the character a lot so Linghe appearance fits the adaptation version

Title Pursuit of Jade Spoiler
I was a bit confused at the beginning with the princess arrival making me think I missed an episode or scenes…
I’m interested to see how they’ll do the scenes of her out hunting, coming across the enemies trying to sneak in, intercepting, stealing their goods. From the preview we got them arriving back successfully, getting punished, etc.

I was a bit confused at the beginning with the princess arrival making me think I missed an episode or scenes especially when we get a little flashback when she mentioned that the pig squad helped her. I’m curious how they’ll portray her snatching the enemies inventory

Title Pursuit of Jade Spoiler
His initial order to have lightly injured in his tent was in the novel. They did transfer him to another tent,…
His initial order to have lightly injured in his tent (and it was mainly the injured soldiers close to him) was in the novel BUT it was bc of Changyu. In the drama he did it before he knew she was at the camp. The tents were over crowded and he moved the lightly injured to his tent to make rooms in the other one and the shuffling created empty tents to put the severely injured. Also him refusing the medicine and to use it for the soldiers instead.

I’ve mentioned before how the drama version of Yan/Xie Zheng is softer than the novel. You see it a bit more of him caring for his soldiers with him rearranging them around and letting the least injured be in his tent. In the novel he let the least injured soldiers… the ones higher up be in his tent to blend to make his deception more believable… after he realize she’s at the camp…. basically self serving. Of course the biggest is when he apologized to her.

Changyu cute uneducated self calling the princess qi beholden 😂 this reminds me of a bit in the novel and wonder…
In the novel they got her all these advisors trying to teach her and all of them quitting in frustration lol

is it just me or the ML looks extra handsome in this drama???? no hate but i swear he wasn’t this attractive…
It’s bc he isn’t plain skinny. I remember him saying he gained weight/muscle mass for the role. He has a big head lol and with the weight gain he looks proportionate to me. Overdo and especially the one he’s currently filming he’s back to being skinny

Love these last two episodes! The pig squad squad is such a nice addition. Changyu herself naturally injects humor bc of her simple mindedness that misinterprets things that leaving others staring at her lol The addition of the squad really gives scenes more heart. We still have more scenes of seeing her growth as a general so I’m excited to see her hone in her raw talent. Loved the two old men acting like children in the novel and loved it in the drama as well! I’m interested to see how far Qianqian’s son and that guy get. I also really like the scene of Changyu looking down the mountain and seeing the army formation as the move on and then to Xie Zheng looking up as well!

This dubbing is driving me insane, i've known Linghe for years, he used his own voice in SOKP, MJTY, and the best…
The voice actor is the same one that dubbed him in the princess royal

I think ppl described it as slow bc basically half the drama is spent at the village. I think episode 19 is when we fully move on from it and now in the newest episode 22 or something we finally get to the army camp.

Is Pursuit of Jade actually worth watching? I checked it out because of the rating, but I’m not feeling the…
It’s not one of those high impact right from the start and we know everything type of drama and some expected that and was disappointed. It’s slow in the sense we follow the leads living in this town, interacting and getting to know its villagers. It’s like the slice of life and slowly we get introduced to supporting character as the war looms closer. All these mysteries slowly gets revealed and some episodes ppl called it filler bc it didn’t involve enough for the main leads but it’s important bc it reveals some mysteries and explains upcoming new characters. The romance isn’t the full focus, it’s set on a pretty flushed out backdrop of politics, war, etc. So don’t expect pure romance. I loved the novel so I’m loving its adaptation. So it’ll all just depends on what you look for in a drama, like o mentioned some were disappointed bc it didn’t meet their expectations. You mentioned not feeling the male lead bc he seems too rich and delicate. I’ve seen other not feeling the female lead bc they can’t understand how she became a general with the few episodes they’ve seen.

it's clear the story is more about Chang yu becoming the general than xie zheng, but yeah i hope to see his marquis…
Yup. The novel is about Changyu’s journey to becoming a general. Watching her rising in ranks, restoring her family's honor, etc. It’s what drew me to the novel and became a fan of the novel and then finds out it was being adapted.

Complaining about these last aired episodes where the watchers feel angry and/or sad.Not to deny these feeling,…
Yeah, if they come into for pure romance (can’t fully fault bc teasers leading up to premiere was the main leads romance lol) they are sorely disappointed lol all these moments are just a blurred backdrop for the couples. It’s fleshed out backdrops and these characters are immersed in it
On Pursuit of Jade 30 days ago
Again I’ve mentioned loving the screenwriter introducing the supporting characters by interjecting them into the main lead characters path early bc in the novel it doesn’t do that it it’s reads without transition… if that makes sense. One read it’s one couple the next a different and then switches back bc these characters don’t interact

I'm so glad the drama is letting Changyu and the Marquis take their own paths for a few episodes. That's really…
Yup. It’s the same in the novel. While it is a romance it is mainly Changyu’s journey to becoming a general, it comes a romance that doesn’t hinder her journey and Cie Zhang has his own mysterious path he’s dealing with and it intersects with Changyu. We go character growth, politics, slice of life, etc. the novel, esp drama does well balancing everything so far

I saw some complaining we haven’t gotten any standout moments of xie zheng comparing to Yan Zheng. All we got is if xie zheng is him just standing around. Be glad we got something during the army camp bc in the novel he’s pretending to be sick the whole time vs the drama got him up and about creating a fake xie Zheng and that whole scene lol Xie Zheng will have standout moments. His moment with the Sui brother and especially the moment with his uncle

Besides well rounded side character and newly created characters being crafted so well is the humor in the drama. The novel had bits of humor just bc of Changyu’s personality like wanting to always wanting to put a sack over someone to solve a problem, to random misunderstandings that make other go “wtf”. The screenwriter injects humor throughout with the characters that wasn’t in the novel. It helps keep things light in heavier moments because the novel did felt a bit of a drag
