Episodes 29 & 30 overall was to basically explain backstories and the political landscape. They then squeeze and rush through Changyu’s General growth and the numerous battle scenes. Now let’s see what episode Les 31 & 32 will bring us!
I don’t like Li Huai An. He was a bad egg in the novel. In the drama he basically absorbed a character in the novel called WangPeng and became that trusted aide. The drama explains it by General He saying he took him under his wing so that he isn’t used as a pawn between Li and Wei family. In the novel Changyu knocks out WangPeng who was in a suicidal mission to avenge General He. Since they merged two characters they got Changyu knocking out a military leader whereas he was a subordinate who was tied between the Li and Wei power struggle.
It’s really become clear the show really is all about our FL.
Technically his character is fleshed out and his title is just a show of his political weight bc in the novel he is just plain cold cut and ruthless so you see his authority and skill. His biggest battle should be at the capital when he faces off with his uncle.
Even with Changyu in the novel she’s more complex, sharp and direct whereas in the drama they made her more emotion driven and audience friendly.
Anyway. I am glad more people are discovering her! She’s ALWAYS been amazing at showing emotions in such a grounded way but in PoJ?! Layered and above and beyond.
I’m sorry but is her mere presence a threat to you that you have to come into her profile page that on average is low traffic unprovoked? Girl is out here grinding lowkey and her latest drama seems to catch new fans that you feel threatened?

The novel wasn’t about why he was a great leader. He is at a plateau as a Marquis in the novel, all his growth and achievements happened way when he was younger. It’s why you hear story of his battles that made him who he is. Also with him being a marquis you’d see him on a horse more often than on foot. I will say there are some scene that were cut off that showed his prowess especially since he was known for his archery. When everything is over he becomes a intermediate Regnant while Bao’er grows up and then becomes a a Marquis agagain
Episode 29 was basically political explanation and identification. Qian Qian should’ve poisoned him and be done lol
I will say one change I didn’t like is getting rid of seeing her grow…. I get it bc times restraint. Original she follows the army (instead of going to look for QQ) and there she learns and grow and get the army’s respect. It’s her sparring with others that General He recognize her movement and sparred with her. There was a guy she sparred with who didn’t like her and even when she beat him opinion of her is better but still doesn’t believe in her. I think in the novel they fought at a different location where qi min was and then arrived to Luocheng.
Episode 28 mashed a lot of chapters from the novel that it made me want to read it again once the drama finishes. Episodes 29-30 a lot is cut out and minor changes before that leads to imbalanced actions reaffirmed my want to read the novel once the drama finishes lol Still overall am enjoying the drama
Saw some comments saying Li HuaiAn was very selfish for reacting the way he did. Can you all be for real? His…
This is where adaptations gets muddled bc of the changes made. In the novel the guy she knocked out was the right had man of General He and was basically suicidal wanting to charge and even open the gate (possibly letting enemy get in) just to avenge the General. In the drama Li HuaiAn character basically absorbed that second hand man’s role. Her knocking the guy in the novel saved him and save others behind the gate and the guy was in a lower position than her. So it doesn’t translate in the drama. So poor screenwriting making changes that aren’t consistent
So many long think pieces lol I’ve said it before the drama follows the novel well, for better or worse lol bc some loved the novel and some hated it. The Marquis basically had the same wartime in the novel BUT the reason some feel so unsatisfied is that the character is toned down A LOT the novel character is cold, and cut throat decisive. Since the Marquis is toned down, so is Changyu (slightly) so her actions might rub the wrong way bc she’s only one doing reckless stuff when in the novel Marquis does as well and consequences be damn… like he said before ppl fear him so won’t question. Also a lot of reasoning for the actions get lost bc it’s left out of the drama or they change the reasoning
When drama writers make no sense... they keep the part from the novel where tutor granpa tells her to keep her…
In the novel she’s basically following another general’s army’s so she has a base camp. She’s able to buys a place close by where Mr Zhao and Chang Ning can stay, she brings over Mrs. Zhao to say say with them and she visits and stays when she has free time. Since it looks like the drama she’s not doing boot camp but rather traveling around looking for Qian Qian and Bao’er she can’t easily take her with her
From the comments about the rest of the episodes and political stuff reminds me that it was one grip I had from the novel. The end of the novel all the political stuff was hammered down it such short about of chapter with so much going on. So it’ll be interesting to see how the rest of the drama plays out
