Whether you watched them when it aired or years later to some dramas it makes a difference to others it doesn't. WS is one that in my opinion doesn't matter whether I watched it in 2002 or 2015 (which I did) :)
I understand that to some fans modern ways and new dramas are better, not everyone appreciate classics after all. However, classic ones aren't labeled as "classic" for no reason and WS isn't considered legendary one for no reason no matter how repetitive the content was no drama has given me the feelings that WS did. Bae Yong Jun's character I've never seen any male character in any drama or movie like his (I totally understand his popularity back then and now).
And no it is not exaggerations it's a fact I live in Korea and study here and I know everything about WS, you can search it if you want how much money did this drama make for south korea and how much money it still do. The island is in fact EXCLUSIVE to WS I find it strange that you are saying it's not when you haven't even visited it. No other dramas are mentioned there and people are only visiting it for the drama not for the island the island existed before the drama but it wasn't famous and no tourists would think of going there. There are far more better islands which aren't man made. The actor doesn't even need to do any dramas because he is the richest celebrity in Korea and still is. Please don't "assume" things and do your research because I'm not speaking from zero background.
Well, I disagree with you on the "cliche and not special" wording and on everything else you said except "touching love story with great chemistry and acting of the leads. The music is pretty good too. It'll get stuck into your head forever" this I do agree very much. Nonetheless, I respect your opinion thanks for sharing :)
"If we applied it to today, there's nothing special about WS" I respectively disagree. I watched this drama this year 3 months ago, and it's very much the best drama ever made and worthy of its reputation (my top 1). This is a very very special drama which is engraved in the hearts of millions and remains as a sweet memory for millions out there. No drama can have that strong influence 13 years later as WS did and will forever do that's what makes it special. Nowadays dramas there might be good ones and ones that we enjoy very much but I doubt that they'll live up to that 10 years later. I've been to the island where this drama was filmed and saw the expressions of people who come from all over the world to visit this island just to relive those memories again. After seeing for myself how beautiful memories images this drama left I decided to finally watch it and I can't express enough how glad I am that I did. I only regret not being part of that beautiful generation watching it the first time it aired like those lucky ones. This is more than just a drama or a melodrama or a cliche drama this is the start point of everything we love now about korea whether its kpop or movies or dramas ^^
I decided to give it a try because why not. I think Hwang Jung Eum is, along with Park Shin ye, the actress I…
I agree with you comedy is not her thing, I hated her in She Was Pretty but I didn't hate her much here. She is a good actress just watch her in Secret she's really good I don't know why she thinks overacting and screaming and all the annoying things she did in She Was Pretty is what comedy means :S
Recommend this to everyone especially women about to be 40 it will give a new look at life and what it still holds.…
"Korean writers are getting so much better in giving revenge theme a rest. Enjoy drama lovers" hahahaha that really made me laugh XD I know what you mean!! (though I'm revenge theme fan). I don't really think they have given it a rest though...
I watched 4 ep of reply 97 3 years ago and stopped now I'm going to give this series another try.. so which one is the worthy one?
97 or 94 or 88? though 88 is still airing
I'm not surprised with all the negative reviews and comments this is a kind of drama which will not be appreciated by everyone. I liked it regardless of Krystal's bad acting. For me a good drama doesn't have to have unpredictable, thrilling, creative, untypical, full of twists and events storyline to be enjoyable. I can fully enjoy a drama even if it was plain and simple. I loved Rain's performance and loved his relationship with his dog.
Among all LJK's historical dramas so far this is the best one! I really loved it and loved the characters and the story. I wouldn't say it's the best historical drama I have ever seen NO but it certainly one of those which I really enjoyed.
beautifully written outline for this drama, I didn't read it till I started watching the drama (I was afraid it would contain spoilers).
I love this drama this is the 2nd drama of this year that I felt so real and so beautiful with the slow base story and the wonderful characters and all the messages it carries. Twenty Again felt the same for me a breathe of fresh air and relatable story (from my personal experience) It is the only drama that ever made me think of my own life I thought there will never be a drama that will make me feel that, but here we are Bubblegum!! Though the lessons learned from each is different and Twenty Again is still different to me but both are beautifully written and heartwarming stories (I wish there was someone who wrote something like this about Twenty Again).
I love your article but I would love it even more if you had mentioned (Oh Se Yeong and Ye Joon Soo) and (Kim Ri Na and Jo Dong Il + Kwon Ji Hoon) those couples are as good as Haeng A and Ri Hwan no less to me specially the Noona Dongseang one I love them so very much!! Also I love those two female characters (Se Yeong and Ri Na) I absolutely love the kind of women they are portraying.
How is this drama even considered slow base or dull?!! I see a beautiful development of feelings in every single ep.
I wish if they had put more scenes with the noona and dongseang though cus I love them the most T^T
Will I like it even though I dont really like Moon Geun young's acting? How is she in this drama? Because I am…
I'm going to tell you the truth she was indeed the weakest one in the cast, however her lack of acting won't ruin the drama for you cus the story will keep you busy. It's a really good mystery drama I'm not even fan of this genre.
I have no problem with Choi Kang Hee as an actress what I do have problem with is Cha Hong Do as a character I couldn't stand her. I don't like the story though the core of the story was good new and interesting but something went wrong and it became just a dull empty drama. This drama and "It's Okay That's Love" gave off the same empty feelings for me, one I dropped and one I barely finished.
