Right. Its too similar to the dramas that have come out within the last few years. I would rather she do a modern drama or a slice of life. I feel like these plots are the storylines hat she wants in order to elevate her performance and skills. When she withdrew from idol dramas, only for Jaywalk to plunge her back in, I wondered if she wanted to take on the career path like Song Jia or Tong Liya. She wants to play a villain and I think she will nail it.
I've been thinking about this a lot. The industry are happy to claim and use her influence, fanbase, and popularity…
It's sad that the industry is all about connections but it's sadder when we know what some of these artists have had to do get these connections and the immense power they wield within the industry.
A while back, I remember Baba saying that she knows she gets overlooked for film opportunities because of the way she looks etc looking more "Western." People might argue that Nazha recently starred alongside Jackie Chan and Baba has filmed one with him in the past, that Uyghur actors are getting opportunities, and that's a valid point but realistically, Nazha looks closer to Han Chinese than Baba despite clear distinctive Uyghur features. Unlike some people who are clearly mixed or "Euroasian", it's kind of hard to place Baba in a wider diaspora of storytelling unless styled a certain way. You can see it in her costume dramas, we know she belongs there, but her look is also ambiguous.
I'm been having a good laugh because ever since the kissing reuters of Baba and Arthur released, people have been crashing out online wishing they were Arthur lol
I think it has to do also with jaywalk being a bad agency and not managing her well. But what you said it’s…
Absolutely, I love their sisterhood and camaraderie rather than just being senior/boss and signed talent relationship. They have too deep of a sisterhood to ever be threatened by each other which is such a nice buffer for them against the toxicity of industry.

That's the ultimate Alice dream. For to go on her own and be the actress she wants to be without reserve and creative freedom.
Absolutely, but I know they want to use her fandom to do the brunt work while they pool resources into upcoming talents. Kills two birds with one stone but they can kill a third if they put the same amount of resource behind Baba. Whether its male or female, arguably she is at the top. I've kept an eye on stats, and she has consistently been in the Top 10, drama or no drama. Because she has built a brand and not just a name.
Hit the dial. A lot of the newer actresses have strong back from big movie stars. It's a tight knit and competitive community with movie stars at the top tier. I think that's why I'll always have a soft spot for Yang Mi. Despite not having a lucrative film career and its something she is still trying to break into, even taking minor roles, YM still wholeheartedly put her influence behind Baba.

I wouldn't go as far as calling Zhu Xudan her so called her friend as they clearly share a deep friendship. Baba's Giambattista Valli dress was also compared to Fan Bing Bing's Tony Ward dress at the Oscars so it really should be a case of designers following trends and artistic interpretation.
And I agree with Baba being held back from international exposure. I think she is a double edged sword for the administration and Baba. She, as an actress and celebrity, has the credentials to become a cross-over star. And if she does, it garners more press with the Western narrative on the treatment of Uyghur people. Any administration will see this as a slight on national interests and its also a protective measure for Baba because Western media are brutal if they want a spin a story. I think these hints of exposure for Fashion Week etc are manageable for her team. The geo-political implications are massive etc. It's probably why she isn't active on IG too!
Youku are leaches for sure but Jaywalk are just the same. They will exhaust whatever value they can from her.
I don't know but at this point I feel like her dramas are being intentionally withheld by industry .Either it…
I've been thinking about this a lot. The industry are happy to claim and use her influence, fanbase, and popularity to gain traction to whatever they need releasing but rarely do they reward her for it.
Tencent and Youku have the worst marketing strategies ever and rely heavily on her fanbase to promote her dramas while others pitch to magazines for a spread, newspapers for reviews, and influencers. Yet Baba has to rely solely on her own and her team needs to pick up the slack because they just have no long-term strategy that is strong enough to catch up to her popularity and influence. Jaywalk only cares for what they can pocket but rarely makes the move to be bold and innovative with her time esp when they held her back from making a Western debut.
Why do I have a feeling tencent won’t air this year again none of the dramas Reba filmed. Her next drama better…
They most likely will release it considering they have a publicly acknowledged LOTL as one of the most anticipated shows, it would be poor optics and investment not to air it. The hold up of Sword Rose is the unknown at the moment because it still doesn't have a distribution licence yet and its been done for ages.
even younger actresses are better than her, 😭💀she’s failing everyone in her dramas. I just hope she’ll…
Is this Shen Li under a new account? LOL Go be bold and brave elsewhere. Having the nerve to call someone a prostitute while you on here being incognito lmao
Me too but i think it’s good she is only focusing on filming , this way she won’t get tired from constantly…
Absolutely. I rather her focus on her obligations because these events go on for hours and its tiring. I don't think she will be going to Weibo Night as well.
