I honestly don't mind small changes, as long as they don't change the character personalities, which affects the story heavily. The novel relies heavily on the FL/MLs motives (the plot of character driven), and their personalities are the main reason the novel works so well, but if they change the FL (to the default dumb bimbo formate that almost all fantasy Cdramas adopt), or make the ML into a generic stone-face to imply iciness and evil, then I'd rather they not say this is based on the novel. It gives hope the readers, only to have it quashed by lacklustre directing/screenwriting that seems to pollute xianxia Cdramas these days.

As for Dylan Wang, I think he looks really good, but I was hoping for a more mature actor, not in terms of age, but in terms of ability. I haven't seen anything by Dylan so far so I will give him a chance in this as at least he looks the part.

Really? UGHHHH. I'm kinda bummed then. I've reread the novel a few times and never though we would get a live action, seeing as the author has a few other novels that are way more popular. I will wait till this is fully released before watching, but before that, would you mind telling me how they've deviated from the plot? Is the FL the town idiot and is the ML redeemed already within just a couple of episodes?

Ahhh, yet another novel I loved to bits getting a live action. PLEASE for the love of God, DO NOT mess this up!!!! There's a reason the novel is amazing, please keep characters within their own characterization as depicted in the novel and don't end up making the FL become an idiot like so many other Cdramas tend to do cause for some reason they think dumb girls with low IQ are cute.

EDIT: Also, please keep the ML as evil as he was in the novel. He's not an ice block, but is very scheming and manipulative and stays that way till the very end. I hope they keep his anti-hero personality and don't make him become just an ice block caricature of every Cdrama ML. ML in the novel is very nuanced and kind of a jerk, through and through, but thats why he's a devil.

Yeah, thats why the Caption was one of my least fav characters in the show. Also, FL perseveres really well, I loved that she had agency and actually stood up for herself and didn't become a doormat for others.

Posting a comment about my visceral reaction to seeing the cast isn't trying to bait people to get a negative reaction or comments. I merely don't find this pairing has any chemistry so having them paired back to back when I have waited a long time to see Mario pair with Mint (after SHJNPT) in a historical drama such as this makes me disheartened. To find that offensive is a bit laughable. It has no bearing on the actors, their acting or even the plot of the story. Some couples work for me, while other don't, it can be completely different for other people. My comment isn't advocating that others need to have the same opinion as me, merely stating my own disappointment.
My only gripe with the now deleted comment (which I don't even think you saw, but came to the defence of) is that this is an open platform, people trying to police the thought of others isn't something that I can subscribe to. My comment is my personal feelings, I don't police the thoughts of others, if they like this paring, I won't waste my time and go around telling them to abstain from commenting, lest they hurt my puny feelings. At this rate, are you also going to start moderating critical reviews from people who dislike shows that you are fond of? Should everyone only write nice things? As long as one isn't attacking actors using personal offensive rhetoric, I don't think anyone has the right to tell someone else to shut up about their opinion.
Also, saying there are much bigger issues in the world is one thing, but going around telling other people to keep their thoughts to themselves is anything but demonstrating that. I welcome discourse, if you like this pairing, thats great, you can have another show to watch and enjoy. My dislike has no bearing on your preferences, neither should my personal preference offend you.

Wow, this is a lot more fun then I was anticipating. I HATE the small format though. I wish it was presented in a movie format instead of 6 min episodes. I didn't realize it was a mini series until I watched the first episode and by then I was hooked and wanted to finish watching it. It's actually the span of two normal length episodes as total runtime is around ~130 minutes for the whole show.

Yup yup! I hope his shows do well when he's ML so he can finally move on from being SL in everything.

Show started off pretty good, I didn't like the FLs character but ended up loving her growth by the end of the show, however, I kind of started to have waning interest in the second half of the show. Overall, the show was well done with no glaring cliches or overacting. People behaved as normal humans and not caricatures.
On the other hand, i've become a broken record at this point, but my one gripe with the show was that Pop completely stole the show. I was wishing the whole time that he was the ML. I don't have anything against Alek, but I honestly prefer Pop over most MLs in the industry in his age range. The fact that he's relegated to SL in so many shows seriously pisses me off and I sometimes avoid watching shows just because I know it will annoy me to see him as SL.

haha, yeah, It's like a bad nightmare that never ends. If his reason for revenge was stronger (i.e. someone getting killed or actual injustice) I would have lapped up the whole series even if it was cliche, but he honestly was hung over getting abandoned by a girl he knew for a few months.

Apparently, when she was in Italy, she was blind and he took care of her and they sort of fell in love. However, her best friend lied to her that ML was a bad guy who already had a wife and she ended up leaving without telling him anything because she was so disappointed in him. ML thought that she was a loose girl who was just having fun with him so hated her thereafter.
Literally the whole revenge is about him being dumped/ghosted and he wants her to suffer because she broke his poor poor heart after he took care of her.

Hana actually has improved in this show. I remember her as FL with Weir and that show was super cringe cause of her acting and ridiculous plot. Big M on the other hand is a bad actor! He's getting lead roles for some odd reason? I don't find him good looking, plus his acting is crap, so I don't know who's selecting him. I would consider him as a goon or side character, not even as a SML in a show. And I think as far as the chemistry goes, there was so much skin ship but they really didn't have the IT factor between the leads. The two felt almost robotic performing the scenes. Add to that the lame revenge plot, I just couldn't enjoy the show.

Funny thing is, I found the opening theme song being performed live with the video of the lakorn playing behind the singer. So, someone out there felt the need to post that, but nothing for the lakorn itself.

Lol, so true! I tried to look for it as well. I always feel so sad when I find these older lakorns with interesting stories but they aren't even available in native language.

Check out my custom lists, I have quite a few if you want to go through them. I almost always rate shows I've watched, so you can gauge from my rating how much I liked it. Sometimes I like shows because of nostalgia, not because they are good or anything, so my ratings are kind of whack lol. From last year, I found Mae Krua Kon Mai to be really fun. It had newbies but I loved them to bits cause the story, although cliche, was solid and the chemistry between the leads was really good. If you want to venture into Cdramas, then I would say check out Rattan, one of my fav from last year. It's a modern sci-fi/fantasy with historical aspects. I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed it.
