I didn't watch the last few episode because as soon as the love triangle subsided, I knew that Jang Hyuk was going to either end up alone, or with someone they rounded up for him at the last moment, and that would spoil the whole romance of the drama for me. If someone reads this comment, can you please spoil the ending and tell me if he ends up alone or with some random last moment character? Thanks!
Was she actually smart because she exhibited herself as being slightly cultured? Is it that difficult to write a somewhat cultured FL, that you automatically assume she is a smart female lead? Because, let me tell you, she did nothing on her own. She went around brooding, getting herself and others into dangerous situations because of her own inability to accept help, and then she inevitably needed rescuing as a result of her own idiocy. Please, please, writers, please write another cultured FL, but give her some common sense at the same time. There is nothing wrong with being cultured. It doesn't mean you are a stereotype of a "snob", and it doesn't mean you are "cool" just because you like a man who isn't very cultured, but has a lot of common sense. Stop perpetuating that being cultured is exclusively for the wealthy of society, because we both know that isn't true.
I thought the objectional part was the xenophobia. The demon "cultural" references were from Europe, so it was like a plague that came with the Europeans to Joseon. But, apparently xenophobia, as in Europeans bringing in their religion and their demons following behind, wasn't the issue here. π It's fine to portray non-Koreans as a "problem", but not to portray Korean nobility in any way other than to praise them, even if it goes against actual history.
There were three deities that were one. Until the day when the god of death broke away, ate one of the other two…
Thank you for taking the time to write all of this out. I can't pretend like it makes sense now, since, well, the boy was going to be a human sacrifice??! The "good deity" traps the demon inside the boy?? The "good deity" takes the boys eyes?? The good deity gives the girl demon eyes?? Is that not a tiny bit strange to anyone else??
I would really appreciate if someone could spoil the first episode for me, because I was completely beyond confused. There is an evil demon thing, it gets transfered to the worst CGI talking butterfly in the history of CGI, then it makes this boy evil? Or... evil gets trapped inside him? Then this girl is..... his twin? The talking butterfly gives her her twin's sight?? But, are they twins? Aren't they twins? Is he now evil?? Is he not evil now? Why does the boy get punished by the CGI butterfly? I don't think he did anything wrong. Why does the butterfly want the boy to become evil? Or is the evil in his eyeballs? OMG. Someone please explain the 1st episode to me. The butterfly is evil, sonce it is taking sight from a boy and giving it to the girl, but the "good guys" summoned it? Please help!
Ep5, the Main Leads use RAPE as a war tactic!! The devil!! No thanks!!
Yes, they ruined the plot of the whole second season. I was waiting for it to be some sort of mistake, but nope, they made that crime happen. I don't care about them anymore now. I liked the first series, because the FL wasn't annoying, but the ML was, and now that neither the FL nor the ML are annoying , the writers ruined the whole second season. π€¦ββοΈ
Anyone else prefer Ji Soo's On Dal over Na In Woo's? Because, even though I loved Na In Woo in Mr. Queen, I absolutely felt nothing for his On Dal. I felt Na In Woo played up the country bumpkin aspect of his character, to the point that he seemed..... not very intelligent. Certainly not on par intellectually with the princess. In this respect, Ji Soo was such a better match for his role. Cancel culture is just awful. This didn't need to happen, all based on false say so.
That ending though. π€¦ββοΈπ€¦ββοΈπ€¦ββοΈ One of the very worst endings I've seen in a K drama.
The actress who plays the FL in this is amazing. I mean, the FL character is obviously very smart, but she couldn't figure out the ML is the king?
I started watching for Jang Hyuk, but the FL is at his level, which I wasn't expecting. Don't come for me, but FLs in these Sageuks generally need a personality transplant. The FL doesn't look her best in the costumes and hairstyles either. She looks kind of plain, and I almost can't tell her from the other royal wife. But, I think that really gives her a chance to let her acting shine through.
I can't bring myself to care about the king. I want Jang Hyuk's character to "win", and I know he won't. I also would love for Jang Hyuk's character to end up with the FL. ππ€£π I know that won't happen though. I just think they would make an amazing power couple. Since Hyuk won't get the girl, and I even care more about Hyuk's son in the drama than I do about the king, I think I will be dropping this now. Also, the flashback to childhood scenes were pointless. They could have just quickly told us that the ML and FL had met in childhood.
Why are you criticizing only them when the male lead is like that too? Though I do agree with some of your statement…
I guess it's because I felt the story revolved around the female characters, and they were given the role of being the characters we were supposed to feel empathy towards, feel sad for, and care the most about. π€·ββοΈ With more responsibility comes more expectations. π€·ββοΈ
I can't stand Lee Hye Ri in this drama. Another aggressive, arrogant, selfish character from her, hijacking what otherwise could have been an interesting drama. Can't really stand her in anything I've seen her in so far.
"annoying push-over of an idiot" who hurt u lmao, you know you can always praise someone without insulting other…
Thank you for being polite. I truly appreciate it. I'm new to MDL, and just... didn't know how taboo it is to compliment an actor, or likewise critique an actress for the roles she takes. Just like you, I have no patience for her "quirkiness", wgich is supposed to be endearing. Again, thanks for being polite and tollerant of my opinion.
I think Dilraba was better here than in anything else I have seen her in. Still, I just can't bring myself to like her character in anything she has been in. She is a beautiful actress, with star quality, but I just find her completely empty and lacking in acting range. Her eyebrows are always up, and she only has two facial expressions to choose from. I just can't tolerate it. I realize most will disagree with me, but I can't stand any drama she has been in because I find her incredibly boring as an actress. Someone out there has to agree with me, even though I realize it's an unpopular opinion. Zhou Lu Si is another actress that lacks range. She's very good at comedy, and "being herself". Not as good at serious roles. I couldn't watch more than 2 episodes, since I really didn't care about the female leads and whether they lived or died.
I loved this show. It was lighthearted entertainment, that was just the right number of episodes, and had a very positive feel to it.
The writers made the heroine a naive optimist, without being stupid, which was just the perfect balance. And yes, it was nice to see a likeable, and capable heroine get chased around by two handsome men. π

What did I say about her acting? Please do tell. Because, I think you'll find I criticized her acting choices, her role in this drama, but not her acting.

I can comment on a character, surely. π€¦ββοΈπ€¦ββοΈπ€¦ββοΈ
I don't expect thanks from anyone. I don't get what the big deal is. I don't like her character/s. It's almost as if people have a problem with joint comment that explores opinions on two seperate topics.
The gumiho himself is flawed too and just a terrible person to date. They're a match made in Hell.
I had to stop watching it after I think the 5th or 6th episode, so, I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up being a terrible..... creature. Everyone's character annoyed the hell out of me.
