If only Yu Shu Xin wasn't the FL, I'd want to watch this.

OK, I know it's been a long time since this drama came out, but would someone be so kind as to let me know what animal she turned into when she accidentally "set the fire" in the flashback scene with the ML's brother? She is some kind of albino animal. Moth? She has horns. I remember looking up the Chinese zodiac to find what animal it could be. Is she supposed to be a white snake? Moth? She didn't seem particularly snake-like to me.

I only mentioned it because you said, " you're saying they're living under a dictatorship, but that's a westerner's thinking".

It's exactly like saying that because I call Kim Jong-Un a dictator, that's a "westerner's
thinking".

Just because a certain population is successfull brainwashed, doesn't mean that it's a westerner's thinking only.

Just because some people were successfully brainwashed by Marxism, doesn't mean it's just "westerner's thinking" to state the truth, whatever you may see in the drama, I had to respond to your comment, because objective reality exists beyond point of view, and it's wrong to pretend history is whatever the current communist sensors want to portray it. Why do you think they are so scared of releasing a drama uncensored in the first place?

Anyway, I am alright in the head, I just have a hard time when someone writes off historical facts as "a foreign point of view", because I'm sure there are plenty of North Koreans, Iranians, and Chinese citizens that are brainwashed into their "thinking" that their government is great. Also, plenty of Germans that thought their Nationalist Socialist government was great before and during WWII. Doesn't change historical fact.

Wasn't he in.... oh yeah... I guess the others were Xanxia or Costume Drama. He's a good, natural actor.

If you want to deny history, and call it "point of view" instead of fact, that's unfortunate, but your choice. It doesn't alter actual historical fact, which is no matter how brainwashed into being nationalistic communists the Chinese people were at the time, more people were slaughtered and disappeared under Mao's reign of terror than at any other time in China's bloody history.

Were all Chinese women of her age developmentally challenged because they led "sheltered" lives by that logic, because they were all forcibly sheltered by their own government? Yup. That's exactly what she is. Mary Sues can ruin whole dramas.

She can read books. It's the Republican Era, and she is hopping around outside on rooftops in the very first scene. She would have to know all about the city to even make her way back home! How could she know nothing about the outside world and travel within it at the same time?

Are you saying that children are stupid because they have the mind of a child and are innocent and naive?

Huge difference between being innocent and being stupid and low IQ. Plenty of children out there with higher IQs than what she has exhibited, unless she was dropped on her head and recieved a massive frontal lobe injury, or have been put in solitary confinement as a child, so that the brain isn't stimulated the way it needa to in order to grow, then there is no excuse.

No, no excuse for being a full grown woman but acting like a complete idiot. Plenty of ways in which a character can be written to be both innocent and intelligent at the same time. Also, you don't have to even be naive to be innocent.

This 8 year-old in a full grown adult female body trope needs to die out, and the only way that will happen, is if we collectively demand it, not make excuses for it!

I can't get through the first episode. Characters are boring, storyline has massive potential, but every interesting aspect of it is left out of the plot so far. I've tried to finish the first episode twice now. Is there any reason to try a third time?

I watched 4-5 episodes, and I dropped it. Now, I am beginning to wonder if I dropped it too early. The main character was raised to be a sociopath by his grandmother and the bodyguard, so it makes sense that he is a self-centered, egotistical, arrogant jerk of a character, but, why is the FL so damn annoying? We are supposed to like her because she is quirky, I get it, but she is so dumb and fearful! Should I watch more??

OK, throughout this drama, I kept getting distracted by Neo Hou's nose. I know, it's a weird thing to notice, but I kept thinking how odd it looks, and it almost disappears under the makeup sometimes, because it just.... it doesn't seem like a natural nose. Now, I saw him in Rakshasa Street, and I figured out it was him because of his voice, but his nose is completely different. Did he get a nose job??! I know, weird question to ask, but his current nose is tiny, and just doesn't look natural. I really want to know.

Does anyone else consistently get Cheng Yi, Bai Jing Ting, and Yang Ze confused with each other? Because I have to look back at each drama one of these actors was in, so I can tell which one it was. Just interested to see if someone can relate to this. I realize now that Cheng Yi is more likely to get the ML in any given drama, but I still have need to check, as they all look so similar to me.

Wow! That suprises me because, I have read some of your reviews, and you strike me as a very optimistic and enthusiastic drama watcher (nothing wrong with that!). I just mean that you really have more patience than me, so if even you can't handle this drama, that says a lot!

Wait a minute, who were the parents of Eve's little girl then?? Where did she go to?? What happened to the little girl??

I seriously thought she was going to pull an "Il Trovatore" trope, where the kid is So Ra's or So Ra's father's, and Eve was raising her for the purpose of revenge.

Is the girl being brought up by Eve's ex-husband then? As much as I hate him, he seemed to care about the child more than she did.
