Zee and Saint (Fighter+Tutor) in Why R U were great together and I enjoyed the acting and chemistry. Zee was so…
Yes, Bright has the issue with singing, I have seen the videos. This is why I had to give the disclaimer about the lads’ technical performance and only talk about voice timbres. That said, barely anyone can be compared to Jeff Satur, which is both an excuse for Bright and an accusation against their whole quartet that has grouped lads with vastly different skills and experience. Jeff is a true gentleman though, so he has tried to defend Bright, but this situation was destined to happen from the get go.
In regard to the whiteness issue. I am conflicted about this because it makes me personally sad that the beautiful tan the actors in Asia have tends to be erased by the giant whitening creams industry, filters in social media and post-processing of series and TV shows.
But at the same time I am refraining myself from critiquing this because it is the Asian culture that has roots for like at least a thousand years in the time way before white colonists have started to occupy many territories in the region.
People being paler always was an indication of success in society because they do not do manual labour in open fields. And it was not just the class or the elite issue, but a universal measurement of personal success even in societies that have changed its economic fundamentals entirely within the last hundred of years or so. Hence, it is not just some social racism issue, either.
Nowadays, of course, the media from white countries add to the pressure, but if this is what the Asian people like and it is achievable one way or another without significant damage to anyone, then so be it. I worry about people becoming vitamin D deficient, though, because they prevent it from forming in their skin. But people can take fish oil capsules with the vitamin D added to it, they are not that pricey.
Yet I am glad that the only kind of white lead in Thai BL series I have watched was actor James Hayward Prescott from series Bad Guy My Boss (2024), who is half white. And I like how actor Tay Tawan has embraced his dark skin and is not trying to whiten it up.
It is also important to note that the Chinese have disproportionally high representation in all of Thai media. They all have Thai (Sanskrit) names, which was forced on them in the 1930s-1940s, and mostly do not speak any of the Chinese languages even at home by now.
This is because historically Chinese families were well to do, many of them have lived in the Bangkok area, and they have run and co-owned lots of media assets, and because, on average, their are paler and have more desirable face features.
OffGun pair represents the dichotomy good enough because Thai natives are smaller, have bigger rounder noses, bigger rounder lips, rounder puppy eyes, and this is about how Gun looks. And the Chinese are different in all of those features, and this is how Off looks. The only aspect Gun does not fit is his skin colour, which has went through years of whitening creams treatment.
Bad internet can be a good thing sometimes, let’s think about it in this way.
THE REASON to not watch this is not because of the death of one of the main characters, though this does rather belong to a gay drama genre than the BL genre (and yes, the HIStory3’s ending was absurd), but because it is FAKE gay/BL production in the first place with the mind of one of the male characters being replaced with a female one. This reminds me of one of the earlier Taiwanese HIStory series segments.
So yes, this series is about as fake BL as 2gether, though for a different reason. The same even goes for the beloved 1000 stars, which is also fake BL, even though with good acting and other aspects.
I guess people have already complained about the sloppiness of the script right from its very premise, but even…
Couriers are not allowed to have personal conversations with clients, and they have no time for this in the first place because when if they do not have the next order to deliver right with them, they need to return to the base to be ready to pick up the goods for the following order whenever it will happen. If they are not in the base, a different courier will get the delivery order, so it is a monetary loss.
Thid is why any and all scenarios that involve couriers chit chatting with clients about something not related to the order are not believable.
To fix the scenario, the lad who is the courier should have a different profession that also includes visiting customers. For example, a plumber or electrician. Those type of jobs allocate more time and allow private talks, if both parties are interested.
4.0 GPA (100% performance) Thai students do not need personal tutors because they are excellent with picking up knowledge just from books.
WHAT? A young chap, the father of one of the lads, all of a sudden has a heart failure? This is an extremely rare case, so I wish the scriptwriters would not have used this as a plot vehicle.
Directors, what are you doing? Why do you have actor Folk smiling right in the front of hospital bed with the father of the other lad? The character’s mother is doing better job, she is smiling only a bit and through her sad eyes.
The family drama does not work that well becaue both lads are either full adults or like five seconds before being adults. They are leaving the family regardless to go to the university. They do not need to really know and like each other and their step-mother and step-father. If they were 14/13 then it all would have worked. But at the age of 18/17, there is no way the parents are still keeping their secret, so it is a scriptwiring mistake.
AGAIN we have a series that have it backwards. The second couple is already dating but they still did not have fun or even kissed or even been to each other’s homes.
Turns out Tri character is also gay. But if so, it is not believable he and other cute gay/bi lads around would not have had some fun with each other. This has nothing to do with any “love”, it is just super strong attraction and the need to satisfy it.
LOL at Prab and the twins: the director has made them crouch in the mall as if they are in the bushes.
Come on? Thai people are not afraid of darkness in general, but he we have two characters like this. Also, blackouts happen more in BL series than in real life.
If I was Khao, I would have been incredibly annoyed at Khun, who claims he only loves and pursues Khao, but still is fanatical at tutoring a different lad for no rational reason at all. This situation looks fake and absurd.
Why Chol lad is fainting from a standing position? This can not happen just because he did not sleep a night and only drank a glass of milk for breakfast, which was his daily routine for years anyway. Does he have diabetes or what?
COME ON, why people are displayed in shock over a photo of a student and an intern teacher that shows nothing happening between them? That drama is fake.
There is no way that this intern teacher would have been fired from the school over literal nothing. It is not that easy to fire teachers for no reason in Thailand. Rumours, hearsay, slander, defamation do not work as the basis. In this case, there is no valid evidence of any inappropriate behaviour and the pupil is denying anything inappropriate has ever happened.
And what is the nonsense about Naranat lad getting high score in chemistry tests because of his ties to the tutor or something? Those chemistry tests are not rated by the teacher who is teaching pupils.
So, the whole plan to get the evil lad’s phone was depending on whether he would put it on the bend rather than in his pocket? And then on that he would not be using fingerprint or face recognition as a way to unlock the phone, and then on the evil lad not touching the phone after unlocking it with his hand gesture the last time, and then on the gesture being a simple Z movement?
Also, lots of ways to distributing pictures with all of their metafata and the timestamp, so its presence per se does not tell that this particular picture on the phone is the original. The only hope is that the metadata includes additional information about the unique device that it was taken with, but it is a rarity.
WAIT, do they call it a miss? The lads just touched their lips. They are not 13 to do the kiss this way.
I am not into those quasi-incestual scenarios like about those “brothers” because coming to live together with the attribute of a brother activates different brain areas in comparison to communicating with a potential love interest, there is separation.
So the story would have been way more believable if the two “brothers” not only were never brothers but also never meant to treat each other like that. And they did not need to as they are 18/17, meaning legal/near adults.
A PSA: do not choose your puppy teen love that on average lasts from a couple of months to a couple of years over your whole career path that would require you to spend like 1/3 of your whole life hating it. But choose medical education over the stupid communication arts nonsense any way, if you can stand the icky and horrible medical stuff (test it by e.g. SUPERVISED dissecting corpses of animals etc).
Finally, yes, the production team has made a crucial mistake by skipping the whole confession thing for the main couple; ridiculous.
I guess people have already complained about the sloppiness of the script right from its very premise, but even shortly after it does not get much better with a photographer lad all of a sudden predicting that the main couple will become a couple, even though up to that point absolutely nothing could indicate that this would ever happen.
The music sometimes is inappropriately malicious as if it is a horror film or something, even though events happening are pretty trivial.
BTW, “Arts”, unless it is painting and sculpture, is one of those useless/unnecessary graduations because people that have zero level education in this field can do jobs as good or better than those who have spent years in universities for this. Unlike some REAL hints like engineering and medial faculties that are actually required to be a good professional in those fields.
A PSA: do not drink any of the drinks shown in the series. They are made in an American style, meaning they are deadly for you and destroy your looks as well. Too much sugars, and sometimes even hydrogenated palm oils turned into fake cream etc.
COME ON, this not how you treat a person who was just pulled out of drowning. You should move legs go affect the…
The part that is not quite believable is when Por reminiscences that he was denied by Home is the past. The issue is that Por is the same cute type as Jump, so it makes no sense that a male who is crazy about having fun would ever deny the possibility to engage with a cute lad. “Love” is not required for that at all, just desire is more than enough.
I agree with your sentiment, but buddy, if a straight person ends up “becoming gay” then they weren’t straight…
My point is that the lad can not “find out” he is attracted (also) to males at any later age than puberty, by when the brain finalises the hardwiring of this.
So the only realistic possibility is that the lad has felt the attraction since the puberty as the latest, but did not act upon it, trying to ignore and deny it. But it can not be a surprise as all those BL series show à la “wait, I have only ever been attracted to lasses, but now I have met that special magical lad that has made me feel attracted to males!” — this can not happen. A person is either straight, or gay, or bi (not touching other rare variants for the moment) in the first place, and this can never change later. Scientists have tried to change that for decades with electro shock, lonotomy etc, but it is useless.
The same goes with some parents’ dreams about their gay sons’ once meeting “the right lass” who would awake their heterosexual attraction.
COME ON, this not how you treat a person who was just pulled out of drowning. You should move legs go affect the stomach for the water to be thrown up. And yes, if the person in not breathing, the whole standard protocol should be followed.
It is inportant to note that for males it is perfectly normal to want fun with any and all attraction targets, so “falling for them” is not even remotely required, so the “complicated” aspect, shown in the series, is real.
The small details aside, the series is cuteness overload, even though you can not take some of the actors seriously because they are just kittens, hence it is (paradoxically) puppy love.
Indeed, this series has lots of scenes filmed awkwardly, with music being on and off randomly, poor sound quality and overall production. And they have hired the lads basically for food only, it seems.
But is having cute lads enough? For actually good series — no, but for the pleasure to watch them — quite possibly. I came to the BL genre only to watch lads, so I am not expecting great directing and storylines to begin with. But for others the lads is just a cherry on top, so they should not watch the series.
A GMMTV fan who gives high ratings to their trash.
I am afraid lots of fans of theirs here, not some single fan. This is how not only their good, but also mediocre series get high ratings. Though even their good series have believability issues most of the time because they are bound to the absurd laws of the BL genre.
As it happens, a long time ago I posted a kind of summary of the novel:https://kisskh.at/discussions/my-gear-and-your-gown/56983-link-to-a-decent-english-translation-of-the-novelUnfortunately…
Yes, I did not finish it. Then there was second series with different actors, and then the third series, different yet again. What a mess. I am a completist so I want to watch all three, but the first one is too hard for me. I have to muster the courage and patience to finish it.

Thanks, it looks like the novel is better, indeed.
BTW, Moon and Star competition has mentioned. Was not there a different novel about this, adapted into three BL series with different actors each time? I could not finish the first series of that as the way it is produced is pretty bad. Horrible and annoying soundtrack that lasts for like ten minutes non-stop and then some minutes of complete silence.
