The people are saying that usually when a big scandal like this breaks out it's because the politicians want to cover something up or distract people from the more relevant political issues like the impeachment. I won't be surprised if this scandal exposes a left-wing politician or bureaucrat.

I think this is largely the reason why the guys at Garosero are pursuing this. There are talks among Koreans that Soo Hyun has connections with the leftists and the fact that he is being represented by the same law firm that are against the right-wing president is making that claim a little more convincing. If that is the case, then it's no wonder Garosero, who are known for their right-wing ideals, are going after Soo Hyun like rabid dogs. This is not to diminish the evidence against Soo Hyun, though. It's just a supposition of how this controversy became a national issue and why Garosero chose to expose all this when no one else would touch this topic. I would also like to add that if this "makjang drama" is indeed politically charged, then Garosero would be backed up by the rightists as well. Maybe there was a reason why Saeron's family chose to go to Garosero despite their questionable reputation. Maybe there really is more to this scandal than meets the eye. Hmmm...

And why shouldn't I? I have known her personally for 3 years and she has been nothing but kind to me despite the fact that I'm a foreigner. How long have you personally known your Kim Soo Hyun? Have you met him? Talked to him or spent time with him before he got famous? Guess what, she did. And she has proof. I chose not to believe her before but because of the recent allegations against him, I am more inclined to believe her now.

According to my friend, people thought he was lazy and unserious about school, quite immature too. I remember her asking me if I was a fan because she didn't want to offend me with that information.

So the rumors are true. I heard from a Korean friend that everyone who has ever worked with or for Gold Medalist knows that he's the one who calls the shots and that he may seem nice and friendly, but he drives everyone nuts. I also heard from another friend, who went to the same college as he did and had a chance to make his acquaintance, that it took him 10 years to finish college because he was always taking gap years. People who were acquainted with him at that time found him strange because Koreans are generally serious with their studies and those who don't finish college on time are considered "not normal". I didn't believe these rumors before but I remembered them recently because of this scandal.

You hit the nail on the head! He does strike me as someone with psychopathic tendencies. For the longest time I couldn't put my finger on it but I've always felt something was off with him like he was mentally unstable and not quite right. That press conference was very disturbing to me. It's like he was pretending to be human and it was his stage.

I've always found his acting very performative, which is why I can only say that he's a decent actor. I noticed that a lot of actors make their crying scenes somewhat of a spectacle, either crying prettily or crying in a way that would tug at your heartstrings for theatrical purposes. But when they cry for real, it's not the same. You see their bloodshot eyes, snot dripping down their noses, saliva everywhere, it's gross and it's not easy to watch (although there are some actors who cry like this in their dramas/movies too, which makes their performance more genuine). He looked like he usually does in his crying scenes, no difference whatsoever.

According to my Korean friends, he's not convincing the majority of Koreans either. One of them even laughed while talking about him crying in public.

True. I have friends who are practically ajumma and fans of his still. They refuse to see reason or even scrutinize the situation and be objective at least. They defend him like they personally know him. They keep comparing this case to every other K-pop idol or K-drama actor who was bullied unfairly for petty reasons. But this is different. He seemingly didn't just make one mistake, he made several and he needs to address them first and prove his innocence. He should've done that from the get-go instead of waiting a whole month to talk about a quarter of the allegations thrown at him, and yet he didn't really prove or disprove anything in that presscon, which is frustrating. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt but I don't know if I can anymore.

He's trending on Weibo but the consensus is not positive. Most Chinese netizens are doubting his sincerity. They keep making fun of the many times he had to drink water during the presscon because he had to keep crying. Damn, C-Netz are brutal!

I've always thought that K-Ent is a cesspool and the fans are even more toxic. I dislike the cancel culture in Korea, especially since I think some of the reasons they got cancelled for seem petty and shallow. But this scandal is different. I don't know why but I'm invested. I honestly still don't fully believe all the allegations against Kim Soo Hyun, but it has become more apparent to me that he isn't a very good person to begin with, and that I can't really trust whatever he says. Yes, it's true that many of the players in this game aren't saints either. The guys at GaroSero are certainly milking this for all it's worth and using it to attack leftists, I don't really trust what comes out of their mouths. I don't even think Kim Sae Ron was completely innocent. But I can trust the evidence. Even though most of the evidence is circumstantial, so far Sae Ron's party have given us more than just conjecture and hearsay. So unless Soo Hyun presents his own proof, I am inclined to believe the other side.

Yes. I wasn't fully convinced about the authenticity of those chat messages, but I am now. He just made it all the more obvious that he's guilty and he's trying to gain people's sympathy by appearing pathetic. If he truly did nothing wrong, then he should present his own evidence to refute the ones that came out. But no, he just wants people to give him a pass because he might end himself too if they don't stop pressuring him.

So he basically just played the victim and went for the "pity me" route. He didn't even address the evidence presented? There's proof (whether real or not) that they had a romantic relationship when she was in her early teens. He could've at least talked about those. But I guess he couldn't because he can't refute them.

I've always wondered why Kim Sae Ron never became a top-tier actress because she was certainly poised to become one. Her role in Ajusshi made her a star at the age of 10. She was the best thing in that movie imho and I was a Won Bin fan. She won multiple acting awards when she was a kid. I expected her to become huge the moment she transitioned to more mature roles, but she never did. When I found out she moved to Gold Medalist in her teens instead of staying under YG, it clicked. She wasn't given enough attention and promotion under GM. If she was, she would've gotten better projects. If only she had stayed with YG and never got into a relationship at a young age, maybe her life would've turned out a little better. I must admit, I was disappointed with her when I heard about the DUI incident. But I had hoped she could bounce back from it, learn her lesson, and come back stronger and wiser. I never thought things would turn out the way it did.

He also looked way better there than in this drama imho. His styling in this doesn't do him justice.

I like Xin Yun Lai but I don't like his styling in this. I've seen him look way better. His promotional stills and videos for The Legend of Shen Li as Mofang were especially eye-catching. I thought the makeup artists and stylists really brought out his features. But I understand that was how men looked in that particular period of Chinese history. I hope we could see him in a more laid-back look with his hair loose in one of the future episodes, though.

He was my first Korean crush and have been a fan of his since I saw him in Autumn in my Heart alongside Song Hye Kyo. Ajusshi sits on my top 5 favorite Korean movies of all time and his movie, Mother, is my second favorite Bong Joon Ho film. I've seen at least half of his movies/dramas. I would like to see him act again but I'm not hopeful, and perhaps he's better off retired and just happily spending time with his family.
