I had no idea this FINALLY came out and on my birthday!!! About damn time though. We've all been waiting for years. Perfect timing since I've been in a bit of a drama slump lately.
is MARS good? I did read your spoiler below but wanted to know if it's one worth watching. I feel like I'm in…
Oh my gosh, please watch Mars. It's amazing! I agree the taiwanese version is definitely the best. The video quality isn't great but it's still one of my favorite dramas after all this time, and I've seen a lot over the years. The chemistry between Vic Zhou and Barbie Hsu is amazing, and both characters have tragic pasts they're trying to work through.
Husband and I watched last night. We enjoyed it but it did feel a little familiar. Like it's a mesh of various movies we've already seen. Still worth the watch, nonetheless .
I loved this drama so much!! Often Chinese dramas are extremely long with a lot of side characters that I find boring so I usually end up skipping through everything that doesn't involve the main characters. I didn't skip anything with this drama. The chemistry between the main actors was great and loved the character of the Pirate King. I do agree the editing and sound was really off. Sometimes the background music would completely drown out the actors and didn't fit with the scene at all. I'm curious if that was the original music for the drama that aired in China or if we're getting some weird editing with the videos that are uploaded to various sites. Even so, great little drama. Not top of the line, big budget quality but still a fun watch!
On episode 6 and I don't think I can finish this one. So many annoying characters, I can't stand the cult. I can't…
Stick with it, it gets better! I was so annoyed after episode 6 but I'm on 12 now and it's got me hooked. Obviously a handful of the cult characters are infuriating but you start to learn a little more about them and just how deep their connections run throughout the town. Pretty much every adult will piss you off but once the plan to save Sang Mi gets put into motion the plot picks up and you learn more.
Husband and I finished episode 6 and we're both super annoyed with 75% of the characters. The story is definitely interesting and we'll for sure keep watching. Religious cults are crazy though! I cannot even comprehend the level of desperation someone has to feel in order to buy into all that. Sang Mi's choices are so frustrating at this point though. I like that she calls them on their bullshit but she needs to smarten up. I know she loves her parents but come on girl! Stop crying and get out of there! Also the adults and those in power are the worst, as per usual in K-dramas. My husband usually never watches K-dramas with me but really likes this one. He's definitely seeing the things that often frustrate me though lol. Woo Do Hwan is definitely the one to watch. Love his character
When I saw the trailer for this drama I had zero interest in watching it. After hearing good things about it I decided to give it a shot and I'm so glad I did! International Netflix originals are so good. I hope there's a season 2
This drama is becoming a quick favorite! I skipped over it multiple times, but finally decided to give it a chance one lazy Saturday and I'm so glad I did! It's different and creative. I really love all the characters and am curious what direction the story will take once more become aware of themselves.
I really like this drama so far but Risa's lack of confidence and overall demeanor is killing me!!! Japanese dramas are usually very unrealistic to me but this constant need to make every female lead painfully shy and naive is overplayed . It's more frustrating than it is cute or endearing. I also wish she didn't narrate every.single.thing. that runs through her head. It makes things painfully slow. I don't constantly need to be told she's uncomfortable or confused because it's so obvious with her facial expressions and body language alone. Anyway, I like the overall story but the female lead may kill this drama for me.
I really like it so far! Like some other comments said before, the setting is definitely something you would see China doing rather than Korea so I was a little skeptical, but I'm pleasantly surprised. I'm definitely getting 10,000 B.C. and Apocalypto vibes but that's perfectly fine! Whatever they're doing is working and I'm here for it!
My husband loves the horror genre, especially anything with zombies. I was surprised he actually started Kingdom before I did since I'm the international TV viewer in our house lol. He really liked it though. He's convinced Koreans are the best at doing zombies after Kingdom and Train to Busan. We're both ready for season 2!
This was a breath of fresh air! Loved the story and the actors were so natural with one another. It's one of the few times I've seen high school, college and early adulthood portrayed in such a realistic light.
I really liked the story and tone of the movie, as well as the characters but, the movie got to a point where things got a little awkward and I'm not quite convinced of their romance at the end. The first half was great and I was really feeling the chemistry between Gio and Joanne. Then London happened and that's where the problems began. I'm fine with that and understand that's the whole point. Gio kind of got on my nerves with his illogical reasoning and not being willing or able to understand Joanne's POV while in London. It's great that Joanne was finally able to achieve her own dreams back in Manilla but I feel she moved on from Gio. I'm certain she still loved him but, like in her own words, it's not the same kind of love as before. Gio's love for Joanne never seemed to lose it's passion, but Joanne grew up and became her own person and I think she would have been fine if their relationship ended. In the end, Gio finally came back for good and they were together again but I just wasn't feeling it bc of Joanne. But that could just be me! Anyway, I still liked the movie and I'm glad I could finally see it!
Definitely not thrilled with the way it was handled. You don't shut a paid service down with no warning. If DF was too expensive to keep going, that's fine, but give paid subscribers some notice. I only found out bc a show I was in the middle of watching wasn't adding new episodes and I happened to see a comment someone posted about the site being shutdown, then I googled it. It was a very unprofessional move.
Watching the 2018 remake is making me want to watch this version for the millionth time! Meteor Garden was probably my 2nd drama ever and holds a special place in my heart.
