Indeed…reflects who are the majority viewers in MDL and their preference. Most good shows with lesser known casts tends to be underrated. However I thought this one will gain recognition as both Ren JiaLun and Song ZuEr have quite large amount of fan base, I wonder, maybe the fantasy horror theme is not the usual for viewers.

On Point 1, I feel it only applicable to XY and BX because of the characters in the painting they were made to adopt. XY is a useless guy with no martial skills and BX is a daughter in family who practice martial arts. If you noticed Constable Chu is still as stubborn as he was in outside world and lack insight in things😅. Point 5 is interesting, I didnt noticed, but since you mentioned, I went back to re-watch that scene, and yes it feels like a different guy. I wonder where is the painting demon hiding. I think the upcoming ep trailers shows BX’s mom is a Buddha statue and her dad is a monk.
I am normally not obsessed with ratings in MDL, but quite surprise that for this show, it’s so low. With such great quality, good acting and story, it should have been higher. Anyone know how it’s doing in China? The Douban rating?
