Wow! That’s really a nice piece of writing on two interesting characters that portrayed on bring out the best of each other. Sadly, they can’t be together. Bai Lu follow on said, JXN’s relationship with Zhang Zhe is like “Meeting the right person at the wrong time of her life.”

Thanks for explaining from the context of the novel. It’s interesting to know that her encounter with Zhang Zhe makes her realised that she still has that small parts (compassion I assumed) in her and hence in her second arc, she retains that in her behaviour and changed her course.

In an interview with Bai Lu asking her to described the three MLs in the story, she shared: YanLin wants JXN to be princess; Zhang Zhe wants JXN to be good and only Xie Wei allows JXN to be who she is. That’s summed it all on why she chooses which one to be most suitable.

In this arc, YL is distancing himself as he doesn’t want to harm JXN because of his family issue. So it’s seems he is not pestering her anymore.

Yeah, JXN doesn’t really love YL in that way. Although she loves Zhang Zhe, his character is too kind and perfect, not really align with her. Ultimately it’s XW’s character that is most align and suitable for her. But we will likely wait a long time before there is progress for them.
