My personal take is that the next few ep will be crucial for me on whether how good writing will be for the story. So far, the leads have manage to resolve issues in coherent manner, although at times ML can seen to be a little too love brain, but the behaviours do still make sense. So now we will see how the ML and FL handles this betrayal from fake Cui Lin’s betrayal that will put pressure on their relationships.
Back here, counting down. Here’s a thought, we all know that adaptation from novel, often some things have to be changed to make sense. So do we think ZZ in this drama is also reincarnated? I wish he didn’t as it will be so painful for him to face JXN after how much he suffered because of his love for her in first arc. And so at least in second arc, he and JXN can have at least a peaceful and sweet encounter even they don’t end up together. What do you think?
Just finished it. Very much Zhang Yimou’s style - dramatic but a good theme being put into movie. Yes, Yue Fei has always been history tragic hero. It’s an interesting screenplay with twists after twists. And the use of loud reciting and rhymic music in the background, the whole styling got me glued to the screen. I am very impressed by all the veteran and young actors, such well done in their roles. Despite of some inconsistency, I truly enjoyed it.

Previous arc, XW is such a complex character. Maybe in a way he wants to see whether JXN will gear her courage to kill a man she once love. Or maybe it’s a punishment on her. It’s such evil to let the woman he loved being raped by his cousin. Sounds so screwed up in his head. Maybe when he said to JXN in previous ep., “if there is someone to guide you, you will become a pure jade.” - he was also deeply inside wanting someone to guide him. I am overthinking, hahaha. Interesting depth about Zhang Zhe’s character. He somewhat reminds me of Young Bao Qing Tian. Hearing his background struggles, he has also lead a hard life. His values are probably what kept him going till he met JXN in the first arc and he chosen to help her. I am so eager to see this second arc, how their story will pant out. Although already know their outcome from some novel reviews. Sad.
