I always enjoyed reading your reviews. I felt the filter was too strong in most part of this show, likely to cover the age line? I felt a deservice to JingTian’s look, as some ep., she actually look weird and ugly from certain angle. I also agreed it lost my interest around mid series, and the whole drama could be shorter, the plot twist is no surprise. I was wondering at the end, has the story theme been missed. Isn’t this a story about woman overcoming the odds and triumph at traditional system but yet, it ended with the ML saving the day.

How does two trainees get away being so rebellious and disobedience to direct orders in those times? The pacing, the story lacks realism, but the acting is good. Why does FL being portray as such bimbo? Isn’t she trained too? I don’t know, this is not the usual genre that I will watch. Maybe will check out another few ep to decide whether I will continue.

Oh, didn’t mean that. 😅I am super overthinker myself too. Just watching this drama and how this story unfold, this director’s plot twist really gave us lots of interesting angle to explore from. Yup, I doubt there will be a season 2.
Always love to read your reviews. So true that as audience watching this drama, we don’t really need to overthink too far, and enjoy the ride. Love all the points you highlighted and really also enjoyed your view on how the story should progress in season 2, if they decided to film it. S2 screenplay should really take your suggestion then I may consider watching it. But as it is, I am fine with how it ended here and no felt further season is required. Sometime good thing should be left as it is.
TTEOTM seems to set a new industry standard of tragic ending or open ending. The C ent is beginning to realise the audience are able to appreciate such ambiguity.

Novel is up to interpretation of the readers. IMO in the novel, I felt LSS was the victim, so was SangJiu. But when I watched this drama, it has shown more of TTJ’s sadness, so I am like you I empathize a lot for TTJ/CJM/MY and even felt sad for DG being stuck in this endless sufferings of humanity. I don’t think it’s the actress issues, it’s just how the drama choose to emphasize and show to audience. The sadness for FL only comes at the end when she realised her loss and crying at the tombstone. My sadness is for their relationships that can never be reconciled and left us with a SE.
