You just hit the major point. I don't have any feeling for trope of " obsessive love" and i quite enyojed utsukushii…
utsukushii Kare was a beautiful example of an "obesessive love" bl show done perfectly, thanks for bringing it up! Secret crush on you seems to have no idea how this trope is actually done.
i enjoy this particular trope of " obsessive love" but I gotta say the execution of this show is giving me anything other than love. Making it THIS creepy was definitely a significant choice the production team made and they also chose to not give toh a single likable trait cause geez he gives me 2d comic villian sidekick vibes with zero charm. Hoping for some character development, otherwise i'll drop after 2-3 eps.
can someone spoil me the ending of the princess and the eunuch ?
In the drama, they get seperated a little while after her marriage because people at her in-laws catch on to the fact that their relationship is special ( her husband and mother-in-law get very very offended over her close relationship with the enunch). Basically a lot of things happen and she feels so suffocated and abused by her in laws that she begs her enunch to take her back to the palace to her father.
After they go back to the palace, the rumours spread and the ministers/advisors become very pressed about her "affair" issue. The Princess really fought to stay with her enunch but slowly she changed her mind because her father lowkey emotionally balckmails her into letting the enunch go. She also wanted to avoid the possibility of the enunch facing severe punishment.
So in the end the princess allowed the enunch to be "banished" out of the palace to be a teacher in a peaceful moutain area. Meanwhile the princess finally gets a divroce so she can stay in the palace but she basically loses her mind without the enunch. She "retreats" back to her childhood and refuses to live or interact with the present.
In history, the ending was even sadder. In real life, the princess was forced to remarry her husband who she had previously divorced by order of the king ( her father forced her to remarry the man she so hated). As you could guess her in-laws felt very wronged by her ( cause she had a supposed affair while she was there the first time with her enunch and plus she divorced them too). After 8 years of seperating from her enunch the princess passes away at her in laws. When the king went to retrive her corpse he saw that she had been severely abused ( wearing dirty clothes, no medicine, her bed was disgusting and torn plus apparently she was given no medicine and was flea/lice ridden). I'm glad the drama took the historically inaccurate route because otherwise I would've passed out from crying lol.
It's def worth a watch. No angst, just slow sweet courtship. People saying the cinematography is bad are right lol but like who cares?? I think seasoned drama watchers can tell the budget and expectations of dramas just by the mdl page. I'm ok with the lackluster production crew cause the romance gave me butterflies in some scenes! you lose some you win some meh.
I'm a fan of Lee Hyeri cause her dramas always make me giggle even if they're not great but this drama is so bland for real. I'm very confused cause the production, cast and budget is all there but literally nothing is working for this drama when I watch it.
The romance plot is just ??? Like since when and why do they like each other? All they've done is say a couple of sentences to each other each ep? No scene has managed to even make me laugh or evoke emotion even a little. Ok the scenarios are amusing in theory but it leaves no impact.
The little polictical subplots and character motivations are also just so mediocre I could not care less. This drama is just bearable enough to not drop at the moment. And bearable is not an adjective a show should have :/
