This is a difficult-to-find vertical drama that I could only locate on one platform, and it had no English subtitles. Sometimes I can still follow a drama without them and get the gist of the storyline or at least enjoy the color palettes and cinematography, but this was not one of those cases. I couldn’t pick up on much beyond a few character dynamics and some arc conflicts, and the costumes and setting felt very basic and low-budget. That said, I watched this entirely for Yan Zixian. While I definitely recommend learning more about Yan Zixian and his career, I wouldn’t suggest using this drama as the way to do it. Normally, I leave reviews but didn't think it would be fair to rate this on a number system when I watched without subtitles.
I’m not in China so my fingers are crossed I can watch on a streaming network. The trailers look so good and I have been missing them as opposite leads since Such a Good Love.
this is so funny! i just started today and i'm already on episode 5 and this even going in/out of the house all day. i've seen a lot of people share posts about this, but t didn't start it until a group friend recommended it (she knows my tastes, so i can trust that her recommendations align with my preferences). i have never seen so many criminals who can't criminal! haha.
I have several top-tier dramas that are among my highest-rated watches or ones I may even love more than this one. And I wouldn't consider them masterpieces. For me, a masterpiece has to meet more criteria than simply being a 10/10 drama, so I don't use that label lightly.
A masterpiece, to me, is a saga—a complete journey. It's a story that takes time to tell a generational narrative, showing hardship, growth, and the passage of time across multiple lives and decades. It's about the depth of the storytelling and the investment made in seeing that journey through from beginning to end.
ep 38 - they lost me with that sorrow - as if they gained some sort of answer. He was still drunk and passed out…
But he was drinking responsibly, so he wasn’t drunk. What’s the difference between drinking water, tea, or wine if you’re not drinking wine to get drunk? If water or tea had been drugged, it makes it better because it wasn’t wine? The point is that he fell asleep not because he was drinking wine. He fell asleep because he was drugged. So if he wasn’t drugged, he would have been awake even though he was still drinking wine (because he wasn’t intoxicated).
I love investigative and occult, but struggle with this one. So I decided to drop it at episode 15. But I’m super curious about Jueming, especially with the flashbacks we’ve gotten. Could someone spoil me and let me know how his arc developed? TIA.
I can't attach photos or I would. So, please visit this link so you can see for yourself Guan Yue is in this (it takes a second): https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1CfRqpZHpR/. You can also refer to episode 5 at 5:27 (that's the time he appears) to verify. His part is less than 2 min long, which is I why I listed him as a guest. It's a quick check. TIA.
Hey folks, I tried adding Guan Yue as a guest role, I'm an avid fan and I know it's him. He appears in episode 5 but my addition was rejected without even checking (it could have been held until verified IMO). It takes a second to fact check, so it's unclear why this wasn't done. Can others please verify and suggest the addition so that it is on their radar? TIA.
That’s the current rumours, no further news. Youku tend not to give firm dates for their upcoming dramas, but…
that's interesting to know. i've been so antsy about these GJM releases. at first, rumors had it where it sounded like we would have a new one every month. i said, pinch me, i'm dreaming. it looks like i am def. dreaming. but i keep holding out. thanks for the investment news!
There is no rumours about May 25 or 26 on weibo your source of May 25 or 26 is from they own only not from melon…
thanks! i don't approve them because they never seem to be from legit channels. i was hoping someone here could steer me the right way. people in the MDL comments are always well versed on these things. thanks for letting me know! much appreciated!
someone in my group has a melon saying may 25th or 26th, but i can't take these rumors anymore. does anyone have any info on this by any chance? i feel like people are playing with my emotions. haha.
I love Chen Du Ling and I think Zhou Yi Ran is good. I haven't seen his dramas yet but the trailer is marveleous.…
I would recommend Generation to Generation and Twelve Letters if you wanted to see Zhou Yiran in something before this airs. I didn't like When I Fly Towards You. I also watched Reborn, it had pacing issues but the narrative was intense.
Why did he have to convert himself to human, isn't being invincible good.I don't understand Xianxia script writers…
I feel the same way. I don’t know if I want to continue if he devolves into a human. I am trying to find out if this allows him to become a god. It’s not my cup of tea to go from powerful to standard.

And for me, The Heir was that drama.
