Title Cheer Up
Kinda agree
I think 10 - 12 episodes would have made it less draggy.

I still love it lol, even can't wait for next episodes
That's great. It's been hard to get through the past two episodes for me. And I really like the characters.

There's nothing like a bad romance to bring down the rating a fraction.

It felt like romance between a kid and an adult (Korean dramas have a weird teacher/student kink and I don't know why they are against romance among peers). It was not needed, because the show did splendidly without it. The romance felt forced and thrown together just because, and honestly, this pairing made me feel uncomfortable.

This is a great example of a show that didn't need romance but had romance thrown together at the end just to attract a wider audience.

Is it me or is this show getting real boring?

To rope in the viewers who watch dramas only if it has romance. Except for office dramas and thrillers, I find…
"First of all you are using this drama for this discussion, so your entire second para is wrong premise, right off the bat "

I didn't use this drama for this discussion. The Original post was about the genre, not this drama. Duh.

"But, you can't decide that revenge and romance can't go hand in hand"

When did I ever decide that????? There are plenty of revenge dramas with romance that are amazing.

You decided to involve yourself in another discussion just to insult me. I have no idea why you're so defensive, because I never said romance was bad. But that's how you read it, but that doesn't concern me.

So I suggest you move on, because I am moving on from this, and from you. Since you misunderstand me on purpose, I gain nothing from continuing to interact with you.

Have a nice day.

tbh, it is a romance/slice of life first and the law and other plot points are only there to support the romance,…
Exactly what I said.

Actually, you are the one who is strongly misguided and whose analysis is flawed, my friend.

Our discussion above wasn't about shows aligning themselves with romance, rather about shows that are primarily other genres that tack on romance just to reach a wider audience.

Eg:-

The Law Cafe - Primarily a romance, but the law and revenge story is tacked on to carry the romance. --- Not the kind of show we were talking about.

The Golden Spoon - Primarily a revenge story where romance is tacked on even though it's unnecessary. Romance is not in the tags but people go to the page and ask "Romance?" quite a bit. --- The kind of show we were talking about.

I am a huge fan of LSG and I am waiting for this drama to end so I can watch but... rating is going down each…
It's neither good nor bad. It's meh.

Was LSG forced to do this drama because of his character in Mouse???

Probably.

Wouldn't recommend this to anyone who wants to watch it because it's a law drama. Watch it for the romance because everything else is just a carrier and the law/action parts are not well written.

Surprisingly, she wasn't. I think it was because I was honest from the beginning.

My main issue with adding romance in dramas is when it's not done organically, but when they tack it on at the end just because they teased it to try to get viewers at the beginning (eg:- Again My Life, Itaewon Class, and recently, The Golden Spoon and based on my suspicion, One Dollar Lawyer). When the romance is written from the beginning, and it's written well, it just adds to the drama. But you can tell when the writer is forced to add romance, just like you can tell when they are forced to add product placement because they do it all back to back in a filler episode. lol.

Agreed. But a good chunk of kdrama viewers only watch kdramas if there is romance. The most popular questions in almost every drama page are, "Is there romance?", "How is the romance?" etc. It makes sense that the writers are told to add romance to increase the viewership even if the story doesn't need it.

Why are so many supernatural/ghost kdramas revolved around romance...let me enjoy supernatural without romance…
To rope in the viewers who watch dramas only if it has romance. Except for office dramas and thrillers, I find it hard to find any other genres without romance, especially if it involves the supernatural.

Honestly, I'm biased. The premise of this movie is exactly how I ended up with my husband. So it brought back a lot for me, being that age and doing the ridiculous things to get info on a boy for a friend. The nostalgia hit me hard.

That aside, this was lovely. Heartfelt, warm, sad, and it made me feel so much. <3

I see your point. Personally, I don't think anyone goes through the five stages of grief within the span of a day or two, so I believe he's still stuck in anger. If he had accepted it, I believe he would have gone back to his default personality, but the facade/personality he portrays when people are around him vs who he is alone makes me think that this has now become very much a revenge drama.

And the reason I think his daytime personality and lifestyle are a facade is because it's his way of hiding his true intention (revenge/getting justice) and making it seem to anyone watching him that he has moved on. I believe his put upon persona serves that purpose and it's not who he is.

Episode 8.Painful episode. A very good background story for the main character.Having experienced a break-up two…
I feel like he hasn't moved on simply because he's living his life exactly as she would have lived her life had she still been alive. Taking over her law practice, charging 1000 won per client, trying to live simply during the day (even though he is still incredibly rich), and the happiness facade (because she wanted him to be happy) feels very much like he lives his day to day for her, while he is himself at night.

BS opinion but i will just say it...they literally paired the best ML with the most mediocre FL i ever seen. Like…
I thought that was the point, actually. Since she was raised to be exactly how other people wanted her to be (her future husband, her future in-laws etc), I thought the entire point of her character is about being a super chameleon able to be who others want her to be at the cost of her own identity. The fact that she is waiting to retire to do what she wants to do in life (which she still doesn't know what that is specifically) and the fact that she has no interest outside of playing her roles to perfection gives the impression that she is yet to figure out who she is. She was raised to be the perfect wife. Outside of that, I believe she doesn't know who she is. And I think this drama is about her being able to figure it out.
