One thing I will never understand about Chinese dramas, women who are obviously women, yet we're supposed to believe they're men until "surprise", it's a woman. :) Half the C-drama I've watched seem to have a character like this.
This just showed up on WeTV. (Correct me if I'm wrong as I'm now in the U.S., but it definitely wasn't on WeTV in Europe 6 weeks ago? Has it been available in the U.S. on WeTV since release?).
And so far, it's superb. An absolutely brilliant and massive cast featuring half of my favorite Chinese actors, and a very cool plot. FABULOUS cast of main lead actors too.
u ain't an esther fan. lol. she is also getting targeted hate and downrating for her dramas. with these type comments,…
ROTFL. Esther Yu is a 30 year old woman who sounds like she's 6 years old. And she cannot act.
Meanwhile, Unveil: Jadewind is one of the biggest hits of 2026 in China already. and we're only on Day 5 of its release. So... I don't think Bai Lu cares about your idiotic comments, LOL.
Nope. It's just that MDL is populated by a bunch of trolls that downrate everything that doesn't star an idol…
It matters for the director, the actors, the screenwriter and many other people involved in the drama, plus the production companies. Big hit = future projects for many people. Or do you not understand how the Chinese drama industry works? Apparently not.
It's absolutely superb, and I am NOT a Bai Lu fan (can take her or leave her usually, but she's excellent in this). Never make a decision on whether to watch a drama from MDL ratings. The site has a huge number of trolls that downrate the best dramas and massively uprate horrible dramas simply because they star an idol.
I honestly don’t get why people are downvoting this drama. It’s one of the most perfect mystery/suspense drama…
It's just the usual idiots who downvote anything that a) requires you to pay attention and listen to/watch what's going on, or b) hate a drama if it doesn't star an idol 'actor' who can't actually act or c) downrates every drama if there isn't romance in the first few minutes of Episode 1.
It's also why MDL ratings are not taken seriously by anyone, and especially not in the Chinese drama industry :)
Have you watched his dramas? He is excellent in every role he takes!
It's massively successful in China already as it's just passed the magic 10,000 mark on YOUKU's heat index. And btw, no, he's not good looking at all :)
I love Bai Lu in roles like this. She's so effortlessly cool. The drama is plot driven and the acting and production…
Meanwhile, because it doesn't star an idol actor who can't act, brain-dead MDL users are rating it a 7.9. Which automatically proves the drama is good :)
7.9 I see that I'm not the only one finding this drama underwhelming.ML & FL there characters are just there.…
Nope. It's just that MDL is populated by a bunch of trolls that downrate everything that doesn't star an idol and romance happening within 5 minutes of the first episode starting.
Meanwhile, Unveil: Jadewind has just hit 10,000 on the heat index in China, meaning it's a MASSIVE hit there. And that's all that matters, as the Chinese production companies couldn't care less what MDL users think. Thank God. :)
Absolutely fabulous. Interesting cases, decent performances, special effects for low-budget are excellent, and it's sufficiently creepy. (I don't scare easily though, so don't find it remotely frightening. But you might. :) The relationship between the male leads is fun too.
As an investigation drama that just gives me a quick historical C-drama fix (love short episodes when I don't have time to watch a long series, and especially love Tang detective series), this one is checking all my boxes.
Just finished Episode 8 and this just gets better and better. Two leads are brilliant, performances are excellent, fight choreography is unique and very well done, the writing is pretty tight, and the plot moves quickly. Looks absolutely gorgeous too.
Haven't enjoyed a detective/mystery themed C-drama this much in a fair well. For me, it's even better than Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty, and I've loved all 3 seasons of that.
9500 heat index seems like it's doing pretty good in china.
It's doing exceptionally well in China. It's often quite a few days in before a drama hits 9,500, but this one managed it on Day 2. Not surprised, it's exceptionally good. And I'm not a Bai Lu fan (can take her or leave her, honestly :)
And so far, it's superb. An absolutely brilliant and massive cast featuring half of my favorite Chinese actors, and a very cool plot. FABULOUS cast of main lead actors too.
Thoroughly enjoying this so far.
