can you explain the ending to me please. i didn't get it.
Spoiler ya:
Ending, she ended her life as she thinks since she couldn’t control what happens to her life (her parents & the doctor decided what they think is best for her life, generally the students at school mockery and judgmental on her) so in her mind she thinks at least she can end her pathetic life which is a decision she did for herself.
To be frank, it wasn’t explicitly shown in the movie (maybe my version watched was highly censored) but it was mention by the character’s voice over that she commit suicide.
It is indeed a dark movie bcos the intention is NOT to encourage people to end their lives when facing such humiliation but to bravely find resolution to it and also this movie somehow warns others what will (bad ending) happen if others bring judgement to another person—nobody has the rights to give opinion to anyone’s life including even if the person is the children etc because no one owns us to begin with! Everyone is an unique individual!
At first I didn’t go to the movies to watch thinking maybe just meh but I chanced upon it online and oh it’s nice! Good for a change…today’s society most ML are pretty face and young, while FL too are young and this casting is different with leads beyond 30yrs old! Their acting is good too…haven’t watched their other works before this but hey will take note.
Enjoy how contrasting FL background is versus ML…it’s like two person of different world coming together and submerged into love :)
*spoiler* Just like the ending kiss how ML was so happy looking locking lips with FL, gives me an impression is a meaningful kiss to seal their love after all they’ve been through…
Watched midnight movie today…kinda disappointed…i went bcos of both FL & ML but it’s not their acting…
Firstly, the background of the story and character aren’t fully explained…as audience we aren’t being told why the villain can suddenly become expert in making bombs(?) and if he’s such a subject matter expert (c’mon even if we suddenly have any of our family members being killed by incident beyond our acceptance, why would we wanna create pain towards others by creating more bombs?!) he would have gotten somewhat high education background (please don’t tell me a roadside beggar who’s illiterate can make bombs that can explode a train, this is massive explosive material we’re taking about now) and why would he suddenly overnight become a bombing maniac??
There’s also no explaining why the side characters such as the brother who got controlled by the villain to bring a suitcase of bomb into the train…he suddenly having such strong fighting skills that can beat the hell out of the bomb disposal expert(?) and we all know all police force are being well trained and how can a normal civilian measure up in fighting combat level with a police force eh? Where’s the logic of this, i wonder.
Then the train passengers…We all know this world is full of selfishness but how can no one ever bother to help our poorly wounded ML to return to cabin #1??? Can’t they see he’s pushing his limits with his blooded body to bring the bomb luggage to last cabin…and everyone just went pass him to rush for safety in cabin #1 without a single soul kind enough to either push the luggage together with him or at least drag him back from there after he put the luggage??? Seriously?? 😳
Anyone who had been in a train this length or similar would’ve know it is reallyyy far to walk from cabin #1 to the very last one…i just travelled last week via train and just to pass by 3 cabins in a moving train (i need to get to the cabin selling food…hahaha) i was struggling as too shaky each time it passes some connecting tracks! How can his wounded body (almost dying) travel so many cabins…let alone without anyone’s help! It’s just way illogical to achieve! And again, are these passengers all heartless souls???
Worst off, to let you know…one part of the movie whereby ML need to confess that he made a mistake when diffusing a bomb as he needed to choose Option A (stop the bomb at his location, save his team, his gf, his superior & himself) or B (do not stop the bomb at his location and then it will instead save another bomb in another mall location nearby)…so with all logical sense anyone (yes I’m saying ANYONE) would have picked Option A since B is such a far fetched option (uncertain if really got a bomb there!) and (let’s be truthful) we’ve been taught to settle ‘low hanging fruit’ instead of out-of-reach ones right…how can ML be blamed when he did this decision…now the entire last half of the movie was dwelling on this…why he murdered the civilians at the mall (? helo…it’s the bombing maniac that killed them) and ML also owns up to it…what’s wrong with the people logic here?!!! And the villain can even keep asking why when someone get to choose will chose to save themselves so selfish…c’mon the passengers also chose to ignore our dying ML saving the world…so what does this movie trying to give us message…be unkind to our kind?? 🙄 This movie vibes just isn’t right for my liking…
Now I’m still trying to balance my thoughts…Hope Taiwanese movie can pick up with the rest of movie makers in other countries…really hope we can use movie to share good messages to educate mankind instead of using old school teaching…Korean movie seldom have these type of illogical and less engaging scripts…hahaha…and even the smallest character in Korean movie has the most engaging expressions which is what makes most people (even me…hahaha) so enticed with their movies!! If we noticed, it is always about how we can help one another…(I know not everyone in this world is kind, but believing is the power…share good spirits good thoughts instead of highlighting & enlarging the bad, corrupted, twisted or spoiled mindsets around!) to make this world a better place to live in! : )
Watched midnight movie today…kinda disappointed…i went bcos of both FL & ML but it’s not their acting but the script storyline is just meh, the supporting actor & actress are just meh, and most importantly the villain of the movie…the main root cause of his ill intention to be badass is not solid enough! So ended up after watching, i feel perplexed why everyone in this movie (the society the director or scriptwriter wants us audience to believe) is having twisted understanding of how the society balance is, or the root causes of actions are summarized and shown as selfish acts of mankind.
Can read on my below little thoughts sharing if wanting to know more ya… (Be forewarned…major spoiler ahead!)
This amazing young actress Lu Si has never disappointed me with her incredible way she takes her character &…
same here…I’m a binge lover..but I got hooked up on this drama after chanced upon once the short snippets! ZLS this round again had showed good acting for portraying a character beyond her age! Good watch! ^^
just finished this - it's so beautifully done! tbh i skipped over the mom's love story arc completely, xiao han…
I watched some reality (singing…yes he’s a singer too with great voice!) show which Jerry Yan participated (I think he won too! I still haven’t finished watching as too busy although it was last year’s) and in real life throughout the series he DOES speak so SOFT spoken just like this drama! He may look like hunky and man-ly but he’s actually a kind guy who’s soft natured self wow the audience really! Happy to see him back in action…now in China market instead of his home country Taiwan.
Question ❓❓❓1. there is infidelity❓❓2. How much deep sex and nudity is shown?
Not exactly infidelity as there’s a story about ‘open marriage’ between a long-married-couple that are still in love but no longer the erotic love for each other and wants to stay together (to raise their kid) but yet wants to have ‘exploration’ beyond their marriage. It’s a mutual arrangement they have among each other which further extends to match with another couple with this same ‘open marriage’ practice. This isn’t a new concept but it’s considerably a taboo in most Asian countries…debatable to most if this infidelity…depending how each person sees this…
Question ❓❓Why do Ella Chen and Tony Yang separate at the end?
I noticed you’ve asked in two separate comments part so decided to share some spoiler with you.
Ella’s wife character is having sexual phobia after a miscarriage while Tony as her husband character is crazily in love with the idea of having kids of his own. Although in the end, she did overcome her trauma and resume to have s*x with her husband but bcos of her other anxiety/ trauma (childhood thingy…as her parents are divorced and she’s got a bleak picture of motherhood and worries if she isn’t fit to be one!) she’s not going to have kids of her own and don’t want to delay/ waste her husband’s time (such as giving him false hopes) so she decided to go for divorce and he agrees to it. They split up upon mutual consent while still loving each other, just that their direction and wants in life is different….as they moved on, more happy things enter their lives while maintaining in contact with each other as friends.
I’m touched by this script as first time I watch something sad separation such as this but yet it’s for a good cause—there’s really no need to exhaust each other to wit’s end trying to match partner’s needs and wants as any party doing it is actually sacrificing themselves.
This is totally modern world thinking and highly likely anyone with traditional thinking (no divorce is allowed in family history, or if thinking wife needs to please husband no matter what) will not like this drama’s content.
Hope you can watch this to experience the storyline as well as enjoy the deep message/ content the director has for us all… : )
yea…marriage after starring in this drama does convince us to watch their drama chemistry…am looking forward…
Hey thankss for sharing…but I see it’s some screenshots with subtitles…is there any moving video instead of still pictures ya? Hahaha…hope it’s not too much to ask 😂
Splash Splash Love is a great short kdrama that has a similar vibe but the girl goes back in time. My Divine Emissary…
Hey thankss for recommending My Divine Emissary which I haven’t watched before! Can’t wait to see romcom similar to Splash Splash Love (still my all time favourite!) and Queen InHyun’s Man (also my fav! I cannot forget the OST…I still have it in my playlist)…hahaha
I re-watched this in 17mins short video summary just today (my first watch was full movie, many years ago!) and finally I grasp this movie much better now with the narrator’s summary (in text) on most of the scenes.
Director Wong Kar Wai’s movie is really deep that needs time to digest…maybe I wasn’t at the age that can fully understand what love is all about back then, but now I know! This movie is reallyyyy veryyyy slow paced when I watched in full movie (I can appreciate the melancholic scenes and the music—yes the signature music can linger in our minds for years and when it’s played on even today, those who had watched it would remember it’s this movie!) but im a fan of fast moving movies actually…i think probably it’s needed to be this slow as life back in 1960 (without any much entertainment) is perhaps this slow…(today’s society is just too fast moving so ain’t used to the olden days).
FL Maggie Cheung looks stunning in this movie (yea i remembered how many foreigner fell in love with her Cheongsam when she wore so beautifully in each scenes!) and ML Tong Leung is at his best (he’s always charming looking!) for most of the scenes. It’s surprisingly how both of them can send the message of love and being so connected despite no skinship (today’s movie/ drama even with skinship sometimes couldn’t even feel the love or passion being acted out!) and just by gazing of their eyes with each other makes us audience feel the tension of love and yearning between them…I was so hoping they would just elope with each other since they are so much in love (who cares about their spouse infidelity right! just move on!!) but of course back in those days spouse usually stayed on the marriage despite loveless or lifeless!
It’s sad to know the ending isn’t what is supported (today’s mentality is Be Yourself and YOLO…hahaha!) but these olden day values has their own charm (although I couldn’t appreciate it, as being the people of today’s values had changed tremendously!) and it’s good to be shown in this movie for better understanding of how our grandparents era used to be…aww we’ve really gone a long long way…
Watch this to be transported into the era whereby love, marriage and relationships aren’t how it used to be today…and perhaps we can be more appreciative of what we are having : )
Sweet, simple and short (I can binge 9short episodes in one seating! Hahaha…) romance drama…good to watch if you’re into age gap between couple—i enjoy seeing how ML having growth in his relationship with FL and how FL express her thoughts after having him in his life, how both of them try to overcome the merging of their singlehood into couplehood…wasn’t too much details but just nice as not to bore us audience, having little skinship moments here and there, the usual Jdrama (eh, eh, eh) uttered by FL which long time missed (I’ve been lost in Kdrama world for long! Hahaha) Good & light hearted watch, no villains, no weird side characters, all nice secondary characters just to support the core of the storyline. ^^
This trailer makes the drama even more interesting to watch! Taiwan drama always have the most edgy topics I would say…can’t wait to watch this already! Hahaha…thanks for sharing
My friends couldn’t recognize Jackie Chan (JC) in his CGI-ed youthful look! Hahaha….great work on tht, he looks even more handsome (smaller & higher nose bridge if anyone notices) than his younger years (my dad was his fan so he has a good collection of Jackie’s movies in his younger years that I keep watching his classic movies as I grew up, so much that I can recognize him the minute his screen time begun! Hahaha)
I can’t call this a sequel when most of the storyline doesn’t seem like the first movie (maybe my memory isn’t as good since it’s been too long ago!). Although we have a good laugh at those slapstick movements tht JC creates (you will know is his choreography from watching all his classics for a long long time) and it brings back the dejavu but I didn’t quite think this matches any of his best movies produced before this. Anyways it’s good & refreshing to see him in his younger self to match back with the love story with young FL, else maybe weird for it’s another May-September romance! (I’ve nothing against it whatever type of love across any ages, but just that if tht is the case then it doesn’t sync with the story theme, that’s all…at least now it looks logical why FL picked JC instead of handsome young Lay Zhang!) Suddenly felt JC doesn’t need any successor (such as his son), since all it takes is CGI and/ or AI to make him young and stay young for the entertainment market. Hahaha : )
I just chanced upon this…in short clip version (generally fast track most of the scenes as only cut out highlights without any narrator voice over and good thing is, with the original voice for most important scenes!) and am glad I watch it in shorten version, else I might have cried buckets of tears!
Even with short version im all tears when the moment seems as though nobody wants to giveaway their flight seats as everyone has something urgent and important to do (im not trying to spread the bad & evil thoughts, but in fact i heard a famous saying from my seniors that goes like, nobody in this world should expect any other person to sacrifice themselves for others as everyone has their own needs and life path to focus on!) Hence, when nobody is standing up (pun intended!) for this poor fated little boy, it’s something we cannot force others to do as it must be and had to be from their own willingness of heart to help! So im basically crying for a good soul to stand up…I feel im so into the storyline (didn’t know it was real story, else might cry from beginning till the end!) that i wish i was the person on the plane and standing up for him!
A must watch to spread the humanity spirit…but be forewarned to prepare some tissues!
