I understand that the emotions are high after watching the episodes, but it was kinda annoying how some people thought both the leads and the execution for ep 11 was "dumb".
1. You as a viewer is projecting yourself on how you would react on those situations but if those things really happened to you in real life, I doubt you will still react the same.
These kidnappings and trauma are happening to both of them in the span of few weeks, with just few days in between. The are under intense stress 24/7. Cut them some slack.
2. The entire plot is very straight to the point. Their reactions and instincts are aligned to their personality. Also, those people crying about some "plotholes", can just rewatch some of the scenes and those questions will be answered. Not all the details need to be spoonfeed and be shown to you frame per frame.
3. I was pretty satisfied with ep 11. It was almost the conclusion of majority of the loose ends. I was surprised that they gave us another kiss.
4. It would be nice to avoid guessing too wild about the reason why BSE went missing or you would end up disappointed. That sibbling/relative plot is just absurd and impossible to happen. His original plan after his revenge was to be gone for good so idk why was it surprising to some people. He might have his own reasons why he did not inform HJ beforehand.
I will definitely watch this one, but for now I am more invested to count how many times will The Double be mentioned on this page. Whether from those who obviously watched the show and are camping here, or from those who are mentioning the drama just to compare / criticize. *eats popcorn*
Hi, I, myself, is watching this right now and applaud your comment you made above not to expect something that…
As a drama viewer, I would like to see genuine posts to consider if I will watch the show or not. Then you get to see those types of comments from fans when a series has traffic stars. Such a cringe.
It's true that it was kinda rushed, definitely could've extended some few scenes, but saying it as a BE between the leads was a bit stretch.
There were troops of soldiers going towards him after he killed the enemy's general. Why would you assume they were people from Dai? They can also be from Yan or Zhao.
XH literally rode on the horse at the last scene, he's there. He returned during the time that he promised to be back.
The novel stated it as HE.
WJY also said it is HE.
The bonus scenes shown they have a daughter. They are married for 8 years.
the way it was shot, to me, it definitely looks like xiao heng died and him riding towards her was just her imagination.…
Based on my little understanding and experience in watching historical dramas, when their leader dies on a war, the rest of the soldiers are forced to stop with their attacks because no one will command them anymore. That's how I interpret the last scene, XH killed their general so the remaining enemy soldiers will back off.
There was another group of soldiers who arrived riding in horses, so it might be the Emperor's back up to save XH.
To those who are planning to watch this, this is your sign to start!
- Smart, capable ML and FL who have their own missions of revenge, but will eventually share a common goal/path. They are really having a showdown with the villains, a roller coaster ride.
- No misunderstanding between the leads, other people who like them know how to back off after being rejected. Some cute jealous parts that adds up to their flirting.
- Female centric drama, so the plot leans more on the FL, but most of the episodes are sprinkled with leads' banters aka flirting.
- They already established their understanding of liking each other way earlier than their "official" status.
- you might be put off with some weird zoom ins on their faces, but it is actually more on the artistic preference of the director. Might be because some characters love to use opera/play as a reference. Other than that, there are actually beautiful shots that intensifies the scenes.
- Fleshed out villains that will make you learn some of their background story, not just some 2D characters for the sake of being evil.
Mkvdrama requires a password to view the folder for The Doubles episodes. I just thought you might know where to get the password coz you commented the website.
The first episode started with a dreamlike - scene of XFF running towards SYR while wearing a red outfit.
Feels like the series will also end with an identical scene, but this time it will be her running towards XH. I just hope we will see them together, like a proper reunion after the war, and not like an OE type of finale.
I just got the impression that the original final scene will be OE, hence the sudden addition of newly shot extra scenes.
Why couldn't we see the kiss? Is it because he is a baby in the real world and she is 11 years older?
only international viewers are bothered with the leads' age gap, and thinking it as the reason for the almost kiss. The actors do not care about it based on their interviews. The closest possible reason would be with the director/producer/scriptwriter's choice.
I am the type who waits for the series to finish before watching, with the exception of some shows.
I have watched several dozens of cdramas for the past year. There are lots that I quite enjoyed, but none of those stood out for me due to some personal preferences.
The Double is the only show after The Starry Love which I enjoyed immensely. A series that will definitely be included on my favorite list, regardless of the ending.
Two weeks ago, I was just casually checking the current airing list. I stumbled upon this page then I checked to see the comments, most of the posts here came from avid drama watchers. Casual viewers who love to share their feelings after watching. Nothing against other shows, but most of their comments are from the fans of the leads so its hard to weigh if the actual drama is good, or the praises are being magnified due to their biasness.
Anyways it would really be nice to wish for more exceptional series to be shown this year, its quite hard to wait for another several months 😅
there's no video spoiler (so far) regarding the alleged wedding of XH/Situ idk where some people got that from…
After saving her, we see the spoiler scene of XH helping her get down from the horse, with a more public PDA, so they might make it official by then > their marriage > going to war.
If that is how they will deal with it, the 10 episodes might be enough.
Lord I hope not; neither will agree there. There’s too much going on and these are incredibly strong individuals…
exactly! The emperor knows XH's temper, so it wouldn't make sense if he even suggested a marriage alliance to him.
Also, the scene where the brother was looking at Situ, it was just an indication that he understood his sister likes XH, it would be a premature thought to suggest a marriage just because of that "stare". Situ seems to accept that XH does not like her and would be quite dumb to come up with an idea of a wedding, plus there is still the angle of her saving JL's brother.

Aside from the novel spoiler, we still don't know what will happen to her in the drama. But I assume she will be the trigger to start the war because they will discover/ find proof of her evil deeds (re: JL's brother, etc.).
Agree with you. Its generating buzz. I think the pacing or directing or something is not quite with me for the…
The pacing issue might also be because the fans are so eager to get more episodes, but for some reason, youku changed their schedule. It created some displeasure with the story's continuity.
Some viewers are so eager to get rid of certain characters, or they wanted to see more of the ML.
I personally think the show is still pretty consistent in dealing with the arcs, its just that it look draggy because of the uneven schedule release, unlike when they show it 2 eps for 4 days last week.
For the episodes, I think were pretty safe to assume it will continue with its original 40. Just hope they will release the express package.

SOKP kinda spicier with the leads' dynamics.
TD is better with characterization and executing the revenge plot.

- Excellent performances of most of the actors.
- Wang Xing Yue's voice. Lol.
Enjoy!!
