I assume most of the viewers who are watching are not expecting this series to be ground-breaking and complex, right? We are here to chill and enjoy the visuals.
So idk why there are some people commenting here stating how generic the plot is. Thanks for stating the obvious I guess? Lol
There are over 300 full length cdramas released last year, so I'm pretty sure each one of us will find a show that will suit our taste. There's no need to whine here.
I know it was not a direct attack towards him as an actor, but I really feel bad for ZLH when My Journey To You was airing, because most of the viewers were praising the 2nd ML, while his character was not favored back then.
I am so glad that he was able to shine as XW here in SOKP. :)))
Well, just my personal opinion.I feel it's important to showcase their weakness at first, because only if they…
I'm all for character development. Afterall, we still have more than 10 eps to go.
My comment is more of what I've observed based on the 12 eps I watched. I just felt some characters did not resonate as much as what I've thought they'd be, initially.
Is it really a big deal if the ML is getting help with his trials? It would be more out of context if he can solely figure these things on his own.
Like Fanxian from Joy of Life, who was supposed to be smart, has always been receiving help from other important characters in order for the plot to move forward.
*nothing against both shows, just cited an example.
= I dropped by this drama thread to see some comments before I started watching. Don't get me wrong, the show so far is pretty good, but I think the comments here are more "creative" than the series' actual plot.
- Yun Wei Shan : I hope to see her to be more indifferent and emotionless. She's getting more vulnerable as the story progress. Atleast she still has some tricks on her sleeve and not entirely emotional on her acts.
- Gong Zi Yu : Hope to see his character development. I honestly don't expect a dramatic transformation, but a nice twist would be good.
- Shangguan Qian : at this point of episodes I've watched, I have yet to see her "cunning" side which was very talked about here few days ago. Aside from her fake tears and some smart moves, I wish to see more of her on the next half of the show.
- Gong Shang Jue : Aside from his smirks and brooding scenes, I haven't seen any extraordinary thing he did. Hoping to see some scenes that will showcase how he's the best choice as the Sword Wielder, as what he claims to be.
- Gong Yuan Zhi : I cringe everytime he appears. He's like a side crony of the main bully I see on palace dramas, but he's the male version. I hope he has better things to do, like invent more poisons, rather than always provoking the ML and clinging to his older cousin.
- Gong Zi Shang : Hoping there would be a point where she will eventually stop following Jin Fan. I would like to see how he will react. That push and pull game will be a delight lol.
- Jin Fan : he's the nicest character among them. He's just a pleasant person.
Enough with the "mind games", let the action begins :))
Personally, I think watching them work through their hurdles and overcome their challenges leads to a better appreciation…
I'm watching a cdrama as a break from my busy life. I wouldn't want to exhaust myself in watching two characters go through so much "hurdles". If it is just 24 episodes, then maybe that's fine, 30? I might consider. But 40 eps just won't work for me. Good for you though.
With the chaos in xianxia/ c ent happening the past few months, the more I realize how TSL was shown on the perfect time possible.
The more I appreciate how unproblematic and consistent the main leads/characters were. The overall series is just good. Even the comment section here was just a nice place to gather to talk about all the scenes as the show airs. There's really not a big thing to complain (aside from the ending, which was actually not that bad tbh) and to fight about.
I am just glad TSL aired and ended somewhat "peacefully".
The series as a whole was made beautifully. It proved that a healthy relationship in xianxia is possible. Great acting from almost all the casts. Promotion period was just a happy time. No unnecessary and excessive marketing happened. Fans of actors and cp stans co existed and enjoyed the series. The overall success was organic.
CXX might start his new drama with ZRN this April 27, while LLD might be accepting a drama with RJL. Hoping the best to both of them!!
tbh I feel bad for LLD more. She doesn't deserve to be disrespected like that. I've heard she almost got replaced but thankfully she was the final choice for the FL's role. And the fan's apology was not even sincere.
1. Few weeks while TSL was airing, there are some people who accused the show and the casts about them having huge backers and favoritsism that is why this drama aired first before BFTB. It is obviously not true, and now Youku will air TTEOTM next. At this rate, BFTB might not air soon.
2. A fan of an actress (who was also rumored to play YeTan's role) posted about LLD while shading her as part of April fool's.
What I mean is that, jealous and insecure people are everywhere, but I'm glad TSL's main leads and the entire production remained professional and performed great, which resulted to the show's success.

Maybe it helped that I binged the first 12 eps in two days, so I did not feel the frustration some viewers felt with the ML's character pacing.

Not the best fluff that I watched, but its still really good, mainly because of their visuals and they look good together.
- 14 yrs old SZ talks and acts more mature than her 17 yr old self. When she reached 19 it became alright.
- liked the FL's outfits when she was in college.
- ZLS and CZY acted really good according to their characters. My fav parts would be whenever they smile, it looks sweet.
ZLS in WRTW and CZY in Our Secrets were their better roles for me.
I will still give this series a score of 9 :))
I guess I'll have to wait for it to complete so I can skim these parts then focus on the episodes when they start dating.
