On GO into Your Heart Sep 29, 2021
Caters toward a middle schooler's romantic fantasy (or at least what the writer thinks is one anyway). It's a super cliche drama. If you're watching for the Go part of the story, you'll most likely be disappointed. If you're watching for the fluff, you may enjoy it. I personally found some scenes to be cringey and corny. The second half is most definitely draggy.

It was a good remake (more like loose adaptation), but by the time I got to the end I was exhausted. 53 episodes is a bit too much, though I did like some of the stuff that they added to the story. They had more time to explore characters and their backstories. The main thing that ruined the "feel good" part of the drama for me was some of the toxic characters. They spent way too much time on FL's awful mom as well as the greedy Shanghai bungalow house clients. These characters had no shame. They could've showed more houses instead. 😑

Ah, I really loved this. The cost engineering thing is very refreshing. I would mainly recommend to those who like business dramas or crunching numbers though. It's a business drama through and through (with a little romance on the side). Anyways, the main things that annoyed me was FL's haircut and the character who was ML's uncle. The dude was so extra in the second half. xD

They are not in any particular order. I just add them to the bottom of the list as I come across more. I didn't…
I don't remember the part about her best friend. xD It seems very out of character or he was joking. I probably need to rewatch it. Unless you're confusing this drama with something else like Falling into Your Smile, where I definitely saw some toxic controlling behavior.

Ok fair enough. It's just not your thing. I've spent years watching angsty lakorns so this is nothing compared to that genre, especially pre 2017. Toxic is a very strong word and I would only use it for extreme cases like mentally or physically abusive relationship. There are some problems with both dramas, but I don't think the word toxic applies. When I watch dramas I watch for the story and script. I don't care about who is better looking or better kisser. In Love O2O's case, I liked the concept of falling in love online and friendship/comradery. It was very refreshing for its time so I have a positive opinion about it. Had this drama come out today, I would probably still like it, but not as much.

Yes, I wouldn't expect there to be much growth in Love O2O. It was just pure fluffy romance, but I really enjoyed the supporting characters. Gank Your Heart is a sports drama though, so it's expected to have growth. Both of these dramas are different genres besides the romance. You can't really compare the two even though they are both about gaming. Esports is different and would fall under sports genre. When I look at Gank Your Heart, I'm more comparing it to other esports and sports dramas whereas when I think of Love o2o that's just pure romance that happens to take place online and offline. The only reason these two dramas keep getting compared is cuz Gank Your Heart was the second popular gaming drama to come out in China after Love O2O. There have been a lot more esports dramas to come out ever since.

Btw, the only reason Love O2O is on this list is cuz ML is a game developer.

Ah okay. Yeah, I liked the plot for Love O2O better for romance, but Gank Your Heart is better for esports type story. At the time Love O2O aired, nice male leads were rare, so despite all the problematic stuff, people looked over it. Plus some people like possessive male leads, as long as it's to an extent. There were a few misogynist supporting characters, but you're bound to run into that everywhere. Basically, Love O2O was very refreshing for its time (which had a lot of hate to love plots + tsundere MLs or mean MLs). It set the bar for MLs in cdramas to come. Gank Your Heart was a good chasing dreams plot, but I wish it had more character development for that type of story.

... do you really prefer and abusive drama like loveo2o to an healthy one like Gank your heart?
They are not in any particular order. I just add them to the bottom of the list as I come across more. I didn't find Love O2O abusive though. I loved it for the friendship. What did you find abusive about Love O2O? The worst I can think of is ML's stalkerish tendencies.

Title One and Only
Unpopular opinion here.. I thought the drama was ok…. I LOVE the two main leads in their other dramas but here…
I couldn't connect with the drama in the beginning and storywise I thought it was okay too. Music made me fall asleep at times. ^^;; I can't say it's bad, but it's not my cup of tea. However, the last few episodes blew me away so I changed my mind. I can see why you would say it's fast paced, but for me it's perfect. Actually, it was the opposite for me. I couldn't stand the slow burn. Also, I hate that they had to leave a lot of key information/back story out. I was so confused at times.

This is such a fantastic article! I love how each writer has their own style. People may bash KES, but she knows what sells and her dramas are generally entertaining despite the flaws. XD

It was like watching part 3 of a movie series without having seen the first 2 parts.
Also, wow, literally everyone died except for main character.

Person Baek Hyun Jin
He usually plays creepy, evil, and annoying characters, but he's really good at it. I've become a fan. ^^

This is one of my favorite tropes as well. I've seen every drama in this list, except for Word of Honor. Will definitely check it out. Thanks. :)
