People like you should realize, one of the reason why she got popular, because your lot care about her rather than keep in your lane and actively promoting your fave's dramas/craft. Also, the main reason why viewers knows her, not because her real, but because her reel, her craft speaks for her to general public who only cares about drama.

Just continue to watch. On ep 12, there are iconic scene of main leads. But, please be noted that this is a slow burn romance, and FL will have her 1st engagement with LY, and her feelings bloom for ML is on 2nd part of LLTG.
May I add, this CP is the CP that placed 1st rank right now. It's been 2 year that BL cp dominated the rank, but this LLTG's BG CP manage to be the first. So the romance indeed subtle, but its sizzling.

May I offer a different perspective, why viewers, including myself, gave this drama high rating. Story of Minglan and Story of Yanxi palace also my favorite dramas, so I will state my perspective by my state of mind when I watch these drama. JoL also my favorite, but I think JoL have a different genre.
When I watch SoM and SoYP, it feels like I'm watching as a 3rd party, both FL are almost flawless and righteous, I always - well, mostly agree with their decision, without any different view. While in LLTG, FL was perfectly flawed, that I was 50-50 about her decisions, but she is the one that made me emotionally invested. LLTG made me feel ' the characters doesn't cry, but the viewers will cry for them instead. The engagement also is one of my favorite storyline, I'm eager to see it since I read the novel, and imo, it dished out perfectly. Different with MingLan X QiHeng and YingLuo X FuHeng pair that many rooted for, LuoYao is the one that many viewers want to get rid, but when the broken engagement happen, many viewers, including me, cried for LY and CSS separation, and I think its the most beautiful breakup scene. CSS talent will be shown a lot on part 2, and even it will be used for (imo) the dumbest scene of this drama.
I think that LLTG also incites a lot of discussion because its viewers have different perspective of its character because even when they argue, they dished out a solid reason. I guess, this is also the reason why LLTG's barrage comment is Top 1 on Tencent.
But, in the end, its depend on one's perspective and preference.
Tried to watch it, currently on ep 4. But I kept on pausing due to LLTG separation anxiety. And now I’m hooked…
About how part 2 was edited, because from the beginning, LLTG is a premature drama, it shouldn't be aired this summer, but because other Tencent drama haven't passed reviews, they pushed this one. That's why the 3-4 airing schedule because the team still doing post productions.
Excellent show but lack of on-screen affection cannot let it be a solid 10.
Its a matter of preference, and I think that the romance scenes is apt - not lacking nor excessive. After all, it's a coming of age story, family drama and a slow burn romance.
