I knew the synopsis sounded familiar...
I watched the original French show...

Title Our Movie
Watched the first two episodes, great so far, hopefully it stays that way.
I wonder though why they have to make the characters 10 - 15 years younger than the main cast´s actual age...

I thought IU could grab the best actress but when I saw the other candidates, now I'm really not sure.
Yeah saw a similar list on a different site, there are also others like Kim Hee-Ae, Kim Hye-Soo and so forth, but having seen them all this year, I don´t think anybody can beat the two main actresses.

Newest entry into my K-Drama top 5, I am not a particularly emotional person but the drama is so sincere and touching, I became emotional almost every episode.

10/10

Baeksang awards are guaranteed for the drama itself, IU and Moon So-Ri, though who will win what will be the question (Best Drama, Best Actress, Grand Prize).

Edit: Maybe a small thing to point out, the characters and their age compared to the actors and their age seemed a bit weird sometimes. I can understand the difficulty of casting for a drama that spans almost 70 years and features the same characters but nevertheless, some weird choices:

- Yeom Hye Ran is close to 50 but plays a 29 year old (mother of Ae-Sun)
- The Haenyeo Ahjummas are featured from 20 to 70s/80s, but by the same actors
- Choi Dae Hoon (44) plays his character Bu Sang Gil from 20 something to 70 something
- And then the main cast of course

I know small point, but lacks consistency at times :)

Its such a good drama - fluffy funny and romantic and litttle bit mystery here and there ..I dont know why it's…
On the contrary, I think it got too serious. The entire premise is so ludicrous, they should have stayed with the goofy and ridiculous tone.

Title Old Boy
with all the hype this movie has, i thought the plot twist was something really mind-blowing, but in reality,…
I can´t deny that some people might like the movie for the reasons you mentioned but the movie actually has a very haunting commentary on the socio economic reality of South Korea at the end of 20th and beginning of 21st century, and the "superficial" revenge story is just a vehicle and symbol to make that commentary, also by incorporating Freudian concepts, the usage of oedipus´ legend is apparent, and typical Western revenge stories, Count of Monte Cristo is even referenced directly.
The movie just as a revenge flick certainly does not hold up enough to justify the hype it has received, I can agree with that.
If you can give the movie a chance and put in effort to understand it (there is enough explanations on the net but I can also try to explain it if you want), I think you might see that it is at least understandable that it has received that much acclaim.

The entire story hardly makes sense, so let´s not think too much about the lights :)

I'm sorry to say, but he will probably be back just like Lee Kyung Young and others. Maybe in like 2-5 years.…
Lots is exaggerated but I know he was more of a main role actor in the past and he had a phase for a while, but hence my point regarding two decades ago.
SK is still a very patriarchal society but even then, public sentiment has changed a lot since 2002, and the industry is also much much bigger than back then with a lot more money at stake but also much more content to market. SK entertainment, at least regarding movies and dramas, was much more centralized, you have netizens and so forth.
Completely different environment compared to a few studios and TV channels holding all the power and pushing through a bad apple, after waiting for 5 years even then, through.
Of course none of us can know what the future will bring, but in these times I can´t imagine him coming back.

While I get the sentiment, it´s really not comparable.
Lee Kyung Young is a support actor who is not really being used for marketing and such, plus while horrendous act, his crime was more than two decades ago.
KSH is someone who makes or breaks projects, and as such he can´t be used with this hanging over his head.
To be clear, still not a moral reason, but the risk of giving him projects will be too high, so nobody is gonna take that risk.

It's a romance drama, they have to show they are fated to be together. They can't just have random everyday people…
The drama is literally about breaking conventions, clichés and tropes, and then walks right into one of biggest ones.

What is this about Shengyi not having a choice? She did have a lot of choices but she didn't take them. That was…
While what you say is not wrong, we still have to consider how much of a rarity Mudan is in her times, that's the whole point.
Most people are products of their times and environments, and as you can see in the drama everyone besides Mudan and JCY are exactly that, even the good natured characters.
On Lovely Runner Jan 22, 2025
First 3 episodes were great, after that not so much, too many nonsensical developments, overused clichés and so on, too many to list to be honest.
But I can see why it is rated as it is because, and I mean nothing negative with that, it is the absolute wish fulfillment. A handsome KPop star being hung up on his first love, who he also never confessed to, for 15 years, and his/their love being so strong that they break the laws of physics/nature.
And the thing is, the characters behaved very illogically at times, but the two main actors did a really good job in still making you believe that they love the other.
Especially the main actress did a really good job, despite her character being disturbingly stupid and clumsy and sometimes outright annoying, her acting was still top notch in my opinion, and I think we will see more in the future, my favorite scene with her pretending to be an old monk.
Comedic scenes were also hit or miss.
