Agreed. We still don't know one bit about what those things are and how they work. They say it's the 'Book of Treasures', so it could be like a list of ancient treasures, or even a map maybe? And that jade thing has a crystal in the middle, if I remember correctly. Maybe it's use is to locate either the book or use it together with the book to get the exact location of where those treasures are hidden. Well these are just my wild guesses~
Somehow this reminds me of Legend of Zang Hai in locating the seal, lol. XD
