What do you mean ch was left on the steps of the private residence? Did i understand that correctly? The royal private residence? And nobody investigated???? i smell scandal and all the tea...this is not simple at all, is it?
i have a semi theory, myabe just a thought really, that ian, bc his wife was attacked, is going to accelerate his plans to take over the throne bc only by outing the rot and having full power himself can he fully protect her. before, it was his intent to gradually lead up to it, he was playing the long game, but not anymore. which is why he pushed his nephew to do the royal work himself. and why he froze for a minute there the next time he saw his nephew in person. he knows what's coming, and is getting ready to be a bit ruthless. it'll be hard for the poor innocent boy, but in the end it'll work out for the best. poor ian tho. and poor baby king.
He's been told his whole life he wasn't anything but the 2nd prince and should stay in his lane to keep the family's…
Also, something just occured to me.
Pm min, beforfe the car accident several eps ago, made a throwaway comment lamenting about there not being a lawful restriction on age to rule.
Its possible, bc his son was essentially a todler, and he himself was drowning under the pressure of the crown, that the late king's edict had two componenets-abdication to ian, plus a rule establishing an age limit for the monarchy. (Even with a regency in place, you can see the strain on the boy king today, so a regent isn't a good enough alternative for an underage heir taking over.)
since this story takes place in a constituional monarchy, i'm not sure what the law are, but they likely deviate a bit from the original J era. Does parliment establish law? Doe sthe king? Iam seemed to indicate that they are only ceremonial at this point, but is that entirely the case?maybe when it comes to succession it is the royal family's choice, but the parliment must officially confirm their choice? the possibilites are endless.
but the age thing, and law revision, and the pm's throwaway comment...the pieces are all starting to come together...
I have to say, for a show that's meant to be fluffy romance and light commedy, the writers are delivering a fair amount of intrigue and drama in very interesting and engaging ways.
He's been told his whole life he wasn't anything but the 2nd prince and should stay in his lane to keep the family's…
you make a very intersting point. i had completely overlooked why the king abdicated to his brother rather than his son. its possible, that bc the son was only like 3 or 5, and regent would have to be named bc he couldn't actively rule that young, plus the king felt hed cause upheavel by abdicating so put a strong king in place to take over immediately, which would be ian?
i wonder this too. are crown pricess given the title by virtue of being the first born? or does the reigning king select a successor from the royal line? bc if it's option two, it would explain why ian's father was so horrid to him, basically calling his choice into question, and would explain why ian was abdicated to over the royal baby. but if crown prices are born, not chosen, then you're right. why take his own son out of the equation?
He's been told his whole life he wasn't anything but the 2nd prince and should stay in his lane to keep the family's…
Prince would have been like 3, tops 5 yo a the time. I don't think ppl would have viewed it that way. Ian could have named him grand prince, next in line, adopted him, idk...any number of things.
He's been told his whole life he wasn't anything but the 2nd prince and should stay in his lane to keep the family's…
I agree and disagree.
He has definitely been told to never outshine his older brother, but he has never been a coward. For instance, when he lost the final arrow throw it was done intentionally. His father didn' t break him, despite doing everything to. Ian simply made a choice to step back and let his brother shine. His father demanded it, he loved his brother, and he didn't want to tarnish the crown or let down the ppl.
But he has always been strong. During the scene where he barges into his brother's room right before the king and queen mother got married, we can see that he cared for his brother, was ready to step in and help him if asked, ans was also ready to step aside for this brother's sake and let the chips fall where they may.
But now, he has two reason to feel justified in claiming a throne which he knows he is gifted for sitting on. One, his brother did ask him to take over. Two, the lawful king abdicated to him. And, if you want a third reason, the nephew whom he loves and protects is being pressured as a king to the extreme....
Alotogether, I don't see why he's waiting. I have a feeling the PM would have backed his legal claim to the throne too...
I reaaaaally don't won't him to embrace the darkness....but a part of me is low key curious to see how far is…
Noooo he's so cut tho. I want him to stay that way lol.
On a more serious note, forget what he will or won't do, because in the end shj and ian will end up happily ever after so it won't matter in the long run. My concern is that he is shj's only friend, aside from secretary Do, and is also friends with Ian, tho not as close. If he turns traitor then both the leads will have lost a friend and I just can't...
Slow but surely I felt that the contract letter was going to be a problem, like a cliche plot...
My stomach clenched when I saw that contract and I saw him put it into the safe. My mind jumped right where yours did-to the the cliche discovery.
But then I saw what else he had buried in there and I reconsidered. If one is revealed, then both will have to be. That might still happen. But I think it's less likely now.
Didn't pm already say he won't? Queen mom asked him to but he refused saying the king gave consent and the cabinet…
It'll be silly of him. SHJ wants the marriage. For now she says its for material benefit but she'll eventually catch feelings, or recognize they're already there, thus making her want the marriage that much more. Ian has overwhelming public love, and SHJ is popular too. Right now the press and public are fawning over this engagement, which the king has already approved. If the pm vetoes it then he'll lose the friendship and support of both the prince and sjh, and there will be public backlash which might cost him his reelection in the future. A veto is a lose lose situation for him, imo.

He seems like a decent guy. I know there's a lot of speculation that he'll go dark, and maybe he will, but as of now I'm operating under the assumption that he's a man of his word unless I'm shown otherwise. Both the fl and ml consider him a friend, which speaks to his character.
"I know Korea is hating on it and calling the leads bad actors."Your claim is refuted by the fact that…
I'm not gonna respond to op direclty bc I come here for funs not fights but seriously? Find me any one drama, movie, album, idol, actor, etc., which netizens DON'T find something to complain about? Seriously....its an olympic sport at this point.
My theory: PM vetoes marriage. Claims it's not real..blah, blah. They have to make a public appearance claiming…
Didn't pm already say he won't? Queen mom asked him to but he refused saying the king gave consent and the cabinet + crown must be united. What am i missing?

Why didn't he say anything?????
