I remember something along the lines of Kiyoi implying he'd never kiss someone he doesn't like romantically (during the confession when Hira was too dense to realize the dude is in love with him) so this leads me to believe our theory is likely true.

We don't know how the supernatural rules work in the universe of hellbound. It's not a Christian documentary ðŸ˜The only thing we know for sure is that the cult uses "sin" to manipulate and control the country. Anyone can get "chosen", even the characters themselves compare it to an accident or a disaster which can happen to anyone for literally zero reason and baby being hellbound only confirms their theory.
I finished it and ended up enjoying it, not as much as I would like too but it's still an okay watch. Those who are angry and confused about the baby being a "sinner" and "evil angels", either missed the point or didn't watch the last two episodes.
But if you saw the episode you'd realize that the love interest doesn't allow the rest of the class call him names…

Japanese fans seem to like it so I'm crossing fingers for it to get more popular! The school part will have a few charming moments but it's only the beginning! It's really their opening up to each other, Kiyoi putting his pride aside to pursue Hira, and Hira telling Kiyoi his existence saved him/realizing he is loved are the highlights of the novel. I went into the novel expecting a school setting, but the school part is actually much shorter! They can easily adapt the rest of it in the first 2,5-3 episodes and dedicate the rest of the show to the "university" arc and Kiyoi trying his best to make Hira his. You're right! After they graduate it's Kiyoi who chases after Hira. He is also the one who actively attempts to make Hira his boyfriend. Kiyoi's (real) confession is soooo good. And the way he desperately wants Hira to notice that he loves him and love the real Kiyoi (instead of the king image he thinks Hira has of him in his mind) is just chef kiss. I can't wait for them to adapt that partðŸ˜

Regarding the next few episodes. Sorry for spamming the comments but I really like Hira and want others to see what's good about him too. Hira is well aware that he is a stalker and that what he did was wrong. So he confesses his sins to Kiyoi at school. While Kiyoi calls him gross, he... doesn't really mind that much? He is aware that Hira's actions and the way he is thinking must be abnormal but he loves being the center of Hira's world, he loves being the only one in his eyes and he doesn't want it to change. Also at some point (graduation) Hira misunderstands Kiyoi's actions as a goodbye and Kiyoi's not wanting to see him again. So he stops any attempts to approach him, he doesn't start again until Kiyoi reappears in his life out of his own free will. Kiyoi is the one who sets up their reunion and the one to chase after Hira after they graduate. Some may be put off by Hira's actions but he respects Kiyoi's boundaries
