I'm confused I watched ep 8 but it didn't seem to be the last episode as it previewed the following episode where the contestants end up selecting who they wish to carry on with and the money & love catchers are identified. Can anyone suggest where I can watch the last episode with english subtitles please?
Overall I really enjoyed the Rebel Princess. The pace was exciting in the first 20 episodes but then it hit a lull for me picking up once again in the last 3rd of the drama. The cinematography, costumes and sound track were very beautiful. It had its fair share of antagonists which made it interesting. The FL was very beautiful, strong and compelling. She was able to captivate the hearts of 5 men but loved and was loyal to only one. She moved on from her first love and did not look back. I enjoyed seeing her personal growth from the naive princess who was once oblivious to what was happening outside of the palace walls to the young woman who fought for justice and peace for her people and remained true to her values until the end. I enjoyed the performance of the main and supporting cast and felt that justice was well served by the end.
This is just my personal view - I watched One and Only first and really enjoyed it and then followed it with this sequel. I hate to disagree with a lot of the opinions posted but although I thought the cinematography was beautiful and the OST was really good - yes the acting and cast were good but I found the story line quite slow paced. I thought the leads' chemistry was better in O&O. Not sure if they had a 'no kiss' clause in their contracts, it would have been nicer to see a bit more romantic chemistry between Shi Yi and Zhousheng Chen. Also the love triangle between Shi Yi, Zhousheng Chen and Mei Xing could have been developed further. It was sad that Mei Xing just resigned himself to the fact that the woman who could have been perfect for him was his best friend's fiancee. It annoyed me that the SY seemed to be accepting of everything that was kept from her and put to her - so many family secrets were kept under wraps for most of the drama. She didn't question the initial reasons behind the ZC wanting to marry her. If only her character had been a bit stronger and voiced her opinions more. After all she was a successful voice over actress, well educated and well known & respected in her field. Don't get me wrong overall I enjoyed the drama but it won't be going on my re-watch list.
Overall I enjoyed this drama - there were some moments where the story line seemed to drag on a bit but then it would pick up and I found myself hooked again. It's a beautiful love story, not without its challenges. Little prince Ah Li, he was so adorable and such a mature character. Zummer Zhang's acting was incredible for such a young child actor. He had so many lines and delivered these flawlessly. Great cast and cinematography. Must admit I truly felt for Prince Li Jing (Ghost Tribe 2nd prince) I enjoyed his short love story with Yi Jin although it didn't end well, I was hoping that she would give him a second chance but understandably she didn't. Vin Zhang, total eye candy!!! I think I kept watching through those slower tempo episodes just because of him. 😊
@WandereR, since watching TLB, I can't seem to find another historical Cdrama that is as good. I can't get over how much I loved everything about it. Do you have any that you can recommend?
I found this drama a bit slow paced. I liked the FL but didn't like the ML's acting at all. I struggled to watch until the end and ended up skipping a lot of scenes in the last 5 episodes. I didn't like the lead couple, didn't find their chemistry believable. Right up until the last episode I felt sorry for Ning Yun Zhao and thought he would have made a better match with the FL. This is just my personal opinion.
I feel bad having given this drama a 7.5 rating contrary to many who've rated it very high. Although it had it's comical moments, love story and started off quite light and funny. I found the episodes dragged on a bit then finally picked up momentum from ep 18 onwards, although it took on a more serious & sinister plot twist. The story line just felt a bit incoherent & unbalanced. I must admit I enjoyed the lead couple's acting and chemistry, the protaginists and antagonists all played the parts well and the OST was quite pleasant. Others might disagree with my comments and that's ok!

Thanks @WK1. I saw Reba previously in Love Designer with JH so know she can do kiss scenes lol. I'll have to watch YAMG next as I haven't seen YY before in a drama. Looking forward to seeing what their chemistry is like.

Oh that explains it! Although it would have been nice to see some actual kiss scenes between Dilraba and Leo, I can't complain their acting was so good that you could feel their chemistry through all the emotions they expressed.
I'm in awe! I've just finished watching this historical drama and I have to say it is now one of my favourite Chinese period dramas. The cast, storyline and OST were outstanding. From beginning to end it was captivating, emotional and had me many times at the edge of my seat. It was refreshing to see not only a strong male lead but also female. Princess Changge, was brave, loyal and stuck by her beliefs and those most dear to her; her loved ones and country. Now that it's ended I can only say ' parting is such sweet sorrow'. Until next time when I re-watch this again. 🥰
I've seen the Korean version a few times which I love but I enjoyed this version even more. This has to be my favourite!! The FL and ML's chemistry was sooooo good! You felt their passion, pain and sincerity. I applaud XZL and LJ on their acting. I couldn't help watching the behind the scenes too where their chemistry was evident. It has a captivating story that takes you along for the ride. Loved it and I will definitely re-watch it every so often. It's such a beautiful love story, including the tears, heartbreak and profound awakening of true love.
This definitely felt like a remix of Boys Over Flowers and it was enjoyable enough to watch but not as good as Boys Over Flowers kdrama or Meteor Garden the cdrama version which is my favourite to date but I haven't seen all the different versions. It ends on a cliff hanger which makes you want to wait for season 2 to see how the story develops and find out if the lead couple will be able to continue their story....... :o)
Even though the reviews aren't good - had to watch it for Xu Kai! The screenplay has so many holes and it very disjointed but what I hated most was the subbing!!! The subbers did a terrible job of the English subtitles and when you're trying to make sense of the English dialogue because it doesn't make any sense and add on top of that that the script itself it poor. It just makes it an even worse experience. Unfortunately this is not Xu Kai or Zhao Lusi's best drama. Their acting was good. I'd love to see them in another drama as the leads - they make a great couple.
