This drama was a really good watch. I enjoyed the comical elements and modern day references that were included. The chemistry between the leads was great, BUT the kiss scenes for me personally were quite lacking - these were filmed mainly from afar so you could see the actors from behind at an angle, when there were close ups these were of them kissing with pursed lips just touching, which didn't make sense as the ML & FL definitely showed some great chemistry as they stared into each other's eyes you could feel the sizzling sexual tension, so not sure what happened when it came to kissing each other?! It seemed as if they were inexperienced!
We were graced with some eye candy - have to thank the ML & SML for that and I'm guilty of suffering second male lead syndrome too.
There's just one thing that didn't make sense to me and apologies if I got this wrong, as I'm definitely not an expert in Korean history. I'm not sure if it was an oversight in the script but in the first attempt to kill the FL, she was slashed with a sword across her chest & she fell off the cliff into the river & luckily survives. Having suffered such a vicious attack she would have been left with a huge scar on her body. Now here is my qualm, I thought that maidens with scars on their bodies would not be able to participate in the Queen selection process therefore could not become the Queen???
Any who, I would still recommend this drama as it was entertaining and an easy watch & I probably will re-watch.

Yesss! People who find them to be boring never give them a fair chance :((And as it turns out, I've already seen…
I'd be happy to recommend some. Do they have to be Kdramas or are you also ok with Cdramas?

I agree with you this drama is so well written, the cast were absolutely amazing. I was captivated from start to end. I will definitely be re-watching it from time to time.
Although I have to say there are many really good historical dramas, so if anyone thinks these are boring, they must have watched the wrong ones, as they're usually highly political, with many schemes and strong antagonists plotting against the protagonist etc. so usually keep you on the edge of your seat.
I have some that I like to re-watch for different reasons but one that I can recommend if you want to have a good laugh, as it's absolutely hilarious is Mr Queen! 😂

Loved this drama and can't wait for season 2! Strong cast and thrilling storyline.
My only gripe... I wish they would stop casting SHK with really young lead males! There's a 14 yr difference between her and LDH and it's really noticeable. It was the same in her previous drama 'Now we are breaking up' with JKY. Also SHK only seems to be able to play one type of character - cold and stand off-ish! I wish she showed us more range to her acting. She was lucky both male leads in these 2 dramas were excellent!

I'm guilty of only watching this Lakorn & making it to the end of the drama for the visuals of the lead couple, even then I had to skip through a lot of scenes .
Not for the lacking plot or storyline, the objectifying and mis-treatment of women by men or the over acting! Is it just a Thai movie industry thing where Thai actors 'are trained to over act'? I find this in all the Lakorns I've watched. The whole drama was triggering and what was up with the ENDING - what were the writers thinking!

I had high expectations after having put off seeing this drama for a while but it was a bit of a let down.
I don't agree with a lot of people saying the ML & FL had great chemistry - I found the chemistry awkward and their kiss scenes were cringe worthy. Like what the!! Although they are meant to have a 10 year gap between them in the drama, the actors are only 1 year apart. Each time they kissed it looked like they didn't know how to - the chemistry was off.
The CTF storyline was interesting and was new to me but the whole romance plot was just off, I hated how she pursued him incessantly in spite of his constant rejection.
She was highly intelligent, even completing her PhD but I don't know if it was Yang Zi's portrayal of the character or how the character was written but I couldn't stand how immature she acted and the immature wardrobe! What were the stylists thinking!?? Was the hair & wardrobe a tactic to make the actress look younger than her actual age as the actors are only 1 year apart when there was meant to be a 10 year gap!!!
I fast forwarded quite a few scenes in episodes just wanting to get to the end. I just didn't understand what the hype was about. This is just my personal point of view.....

Cute drama and it was an easy watch!
I just wish Esther Yu's character didn't do so much 'baby talk'. Her character was meant to be an intelligent, bright and beautiful young woman and the baby talk just downgraded her to silly and immature. Her voice is naturally quite high pitched which I have to admit does annoy me at the best of times but I watched this drama after enjoying her acting so much in Love Between Fairy and Devil, where we got to see her being vulnerable, strong, cute, brave - she had a lot of character development and great chemistry with Dylan Wang.
Her chemistry with Vin Zhang was also great, they really look good together, it would have been nice to have seen more sweet romantic scenes between them. I wasn't too enthusiastic about how much screen time the second lead couple got.
Now what is up with Vin Zhang's English, it was cringe!!!! He sounded like a pompous old man speaking English, rather than the sexy, hot young guy he is. I hope it was dubbed and it wasn't him speaking because that will be hard to erase from my memory....

I was excited to watch this drama after reading so many positive reviews, so I had high hopes, but these fell short. So hereon is my personal opinion and some people may not agree and that's fine.
I'll start with the positives: I loved Honney the child actor, I couldn't believe how many lines he had and he delivered them flawlessly. You couldn't help but fall in love with the cutie.
The leads & supporting actors were good and the FL and ML are very attractive and make a nice looking couple, so you have the visuals, BUT their chemistry just didn't seem believable to me.
I truly wanted to enjoy this drama and although I can't say it was bad, I can't say that it was great either.
I found myself extremely frustrated almost all throughout the show with the FL's character, when she was acting needy, insecure, unpolished, trying to win over the ML etc. - it felt that the balance of power sat most of the time with the ML's character. Which was confusing to me.

This drama has your typical "Cold CEO" trope played by the FL. She's cold, calculative, attractive, assertive, powerful, rich & intelligent and she falls in love with the ML who plays an intelligent doctor, very good looking, successful, exceptional in his field, popular with the ladies & from a poor background.

Usually in these types of dramas when the CEO is played by a male, although you'll see growth and development in his character as the show progresses, which we did with the FL here, the difference is that usually the male lead's character will continue to hold the power balance over the FL and it wasn't the case here where the ML seemed to be calling the shots most of the time. This drama didn't seem to follow the 'usual' storyline of the stereotypical Cold CEO.

She has 4 expressions in every drama. Pouting is a biggie but she can also do bored/tired, boggle-eyed surprise…
Lol, that's true! :o)
On Love at Night Oct 16, 2022
I loved the sexual tension between the two leads before they got together, although chemistry was still good once they admitted they had feelings for one another and got together etc. the supporting Male was a total hottie, so it was difficult to hate him, lol. I enjoyed the drama and respect that some people didn't, but we're allowed to voice our own opinions.
On Sh**ting Stars Oct 13, 2022
Didn't think I was going to enjoy this drama as much as I did. The leads and supporting actors chemistry was really good. LSK is super pretty but I have to say I really don't like it when she does that pouting thing with her mouth and looks like a deer in headlights (eyes look as if in shock but spaced out at the same time)! It makes her look a bit dense. I think it's just who she is as I've seen her do that in every drama she's starred in - pitty she's very attractive but I think still needs to develop her acting skills. KYD was great! Loved seeing him play all the different facets of his character role. It was an easy watch and I can see myself re-watching this drama.

The Long Ballad is excellent! Strong FL and ML, great cast, cinematography and storyline

Many may disagree with me and that's ok. We're all entitled to our own opinions.
After watching the trailer I had high expectations for this drama and it started off at a good pace. But for some reason after around twenty something episodes I thought it would be ending soon but that's when I realised I was only just over half way through the drama!
The romance & chemistry between the lead couple was quite bland. They're not 14 yr olds for gods sake! FL is a neurosurgeon, hence highly intelligent; she was even accepted into a highly sought after program that few can get into but most of the time she was made to look quite naive, weak and dumb.
Also what were they thinking when they styled her!! Her clothes were so baggy & unfeminine. The white short socks with chunky shoes and the hair up all the time made her look very frumpy. The romance between the two second lead couples were more dynamic & appealing.
This drama wasn't bad, but I was hoping for more excitement & thrill both in the SWAT & romance action departments! Not one I would re-watch.
On Now, We Are Breaking Up May 5, 2022
I enjoyed the drama but at times the pace was a bit slow. Although the chemistry was good because both lead actors are really good actors, Song Hye Kyo just looked a bit too old for Jang Ki Yong. It doesn't help that he has a baby face. I love the noona dramas but I think SHK is getting a bit too mature to continue doing these. Plus it's a bit tiring that she seems to do a lot of these one dimensional characters portrayals, acting cold & emotionless. On the other hand Jang Ki Yong seems to get better with each drama he takes on and fully commits to each role.
Overall the drama was a good watch and worthwhile watching, great cast, beautiful cinematography and the OST was just as good. Everyone's entitled to have an opinion, I'm just sharing mine.

Great production, I had read a couple of the reviews mentioning the ending was terrible etc so had prepared myself for the worst. Albeit, I decided to continue watching it, as the drama was truly intriguing. The cast was excellent, beautiful cinematography and costumes, although at times it felt like it was dragging on a bit, so I have to admit I did fast forward some scenes. The ML & FL's chemistry was great. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed it and & would say it's worth the watch. The ending, although maybe not what we would have hoped for, in my opinion it made total sense. Zhi Wei was true to her values until the end.
