I like both Esther Yu and Lin Yi BUT if there's something that really irks me is listening to Esther's high pitched squeaky voice and seeing her act all cutesy. When is she going to drop the baby act which we've seen in every single drama she has filmed to date. She 's turning 30 this year, it's about time she she shows a more mature side and broadens the scope of her acting. Don't get me wrong I think she's a good actress and could really shine if she wasn't constantly trying to act cute & sexy but in an immature way e.g. puckering her lips, puffing out her cheeks etc. For example, I really enjoyed her performance in Love Between Fairy & Devil where we got to see more sides to her acting through some emotional scenes or when roles were reversed and she was the overbearing Devil etc.
I enjoyed watching SiL - the lead couple had great chemistry, the supporting cast were engaging and the story line was an easy watch.
I just finished this drama and quite enjoyed it. One thing the screen writer got wrong in my opinion was that Gu Yuzheng was meant to be the younger of the brothers but the older brother was Su Weian's classmate while GYZ was her professor???? Am I the only one who thought that was a mistake in the script?
Also I like both leads and consider them to be talented actors in their own right and they portrayed their respective roles really well, but I wasn't convinced about their chemistry - their kisses were a bit stiff, e.g. Zhang Ruonan had her lips tightly pursed in each kiss. It didn't seem natural. Quite different to her chemistry with Bai Jingting in The First Frost. Their kiss scenes were sweet & intimate - their chemistry was off the charts!
Lastly if there's one thing that kind of gives me the ick is how skinny Luo Yunxi looked. His legs looked like 2 twigs in jeans and his face was extremely thin! It made me wonder whether he has some sort of eating disorder or naturally has a very small thin frame.
Any who still enjoyed the drama overall and the ending was believable.
This drama was ok but not great in my opinion. I like the leads and supporting leads which is why I stuck in there to the end. Yu Shu Xin is a good actress BUT I can't stand when she does her baby cutesy act!!! Plus her voice can be very high pitched and annoying. It must be her acting style because she seems to act that way in most of her dramas. Is that considered attractive or appealing in Chinese culture? I'm honestly curious.
First few episodes seemed quite interesting but it's dragging quite a bit. The reality tv scenes are quite boring. I'm sticking around because of the ML! I'm up to ep 11, hope the pace picks up Update: I've finished the drama luckily it had a good ending. Although I still found it lagging a bit & mainly enjoyed the time lapse scenes. The lead couple had good chemistry which kept me engaged & there were some nice kiss & intimate scenes appropriate for their age. Overall it was an ok watch.
Why is this FL behaving like a little girl. Do people find young adult women acting like a little girl cute? the…
I agree. She's a lawyer you'd think she'd be a bit more assertive & not so submissive & child like. I dislike the cutesy act. I just hope it gets better, I'm on ep 11
I'm up to ep 6 & finding this really boring - I've been forcing my self to continue watching coz of the good reviews but I'm struggling to stay engaged. Tell me it gets better
I found this drama boring. I struggled to get through it and had to skip many scenes. I've read some of the other reviews where people gave highly positive feedback. Unfortunately it's not my cup of tea.
This show was quite novel seeing everything from the perspective of someone who suffers from a mental health issue and the stigma that goes with it. Her childhood had scarred her, she worked so hard to try to try to become a successful adult but always living in fear that her illness would be discovered and that she would be shunned & rejected by everyone including work, family & friends - not even her husband knew. Her hallucinations & amnesia were a coping mechanism & in the end she was able to finally confront her biggest fear & cause of suffering & ask the question that she had not been able to ask and had been buried deep for over 30 years. This drama showed the cruel reality of how mental health is still stigmatised in society and those suffering from a mental health issue are discriminated. It took a lot of bravery for the FL to face her demons and start a new. The cast was fabulous and Jan Na Ra's portrayal of a woman who's bipolar was exceptional.
Thanks that's what I thought - I saw a YouTube video stating this and I was really confused! I've just finished watching this drama and did not see him get married instead he tried to win Rosie back a couple of times over the years until she completely rejected him by saying she didn't want to dwell on the past but wanted to move on with her life. Thanks again for clearing that up
I'm up to ep 06 and thoroughly enjoying the storyline. I like the FL's confidence, she's smart, observant and ambitious. She's obviously used to being loved and pampered due to her natural beauty and warm personality but I feel that she'll probably have to face some challenging moments. The OST accompanies beautifully the rich cinematography. Rose's brother is a warm character & seems to be very supportive & protective of his sister and so are her parents. I just hope that the rest of this drama continues to be as entertaining as it has been up to the moment.
Update: I just finished TToR and I absolutely loved it! Every episode was captivating and I was enthralled every step of the way. The cast was fabulous especially LYF in her portrayal of Rose/Yi Mei. Her character development was exciting to see as she matured with age. Her love stories & entanglements. I have to admit I had a weakness for ZGD, her first love & I secretly had hoped that she would get back together with him, but understood why she didn't. Then there was her ex-husband who I disliked all along, he too remained in love with Yi Mei/Rose and still had hoped to reconcile after so many years had passed. Then there was her short lived romance with PJM who was her soulmate. My heart broke when she lost him. I loved when she said " my love is like a single thread, I can only love one person at a time. Once I fall for someone else that means that the thread between us is already severed". She grew and became a better person from each relationship. Rose was a brave and assertive woman who experienced many ups and downs in her life but each time was able to pick herself up and start over again. She learnt from her failures and kept moving forward, learning, living and experiencing life.
Shanghai: The FL decided to leave because she dreamed of going to Shanghai & making a life there. When she decided to leave, she left thinking that her boyfriend would follow. But life had other plans. I personally enjoyed this storyline more - seeing her professional growth and confidence while experiencing some of love & life's ups and downs. Leshan: The storyline dragged on a bit. the mother in law was so overbearing, controlling and nosy. that I wanted to slap her. The FL's decision to stay wasn't for herself but for her boyfriend & his parents, the history they shared and that she didn't want to abandon him in his & his family's time of need. I think she felt a sense of duty since his parents had supported her over the years when her own mother was very present in her life. Both life paths had their challenges and the FL had her regrets in both instances. Luckily in the end she found a happy ending. This drama wasn't bad but I struggled to finish it without fast forwarding parts . Don't get me wrong the cast & acting was good but the storyline was a bit slow paced for me
No what made you say that. The only time he wear wig is in historical dramas.
Yep! I saw an article after my original post that he had admitted to having had a hair transplant. Don't get me wrong I'm a fan. just thought something didn't look natural/right.
Any who enjoyed the drama & it has some sweet kiss scenes 💋
