I have to admit I really enjoyed watching this drama. It was a dark and fragile story, touching on very complex mental health issues. Although Baek A Jin was manipulative I couldn't help feeling sorry for her because her childhood and teenage years were so traumatic without any positive adult role models to love and guide her. The physical abuse she endured obviously had an impact on shaping her character. She showed some sociopathic traits from an early age; she was highly intelligent and knew how to manipulate. Her only 2 friends; YJS and KJO stuck with her to the end both ready to sacrifice their lives for her. -YJS tried to stop her from spiraling any further and hurting more people by bringing to light the truth behind her personas in a documentary released on the same night she was awarded Best Actress, which led to her ultimate downfall. He was ready to accompany her in life or death and was able to confess his love before his demise. The ending could have been wrapped up better. There seemed to be some unfinished stories e.g. BAJ's husband, I was hoping the videos of all his crimes would have been released & he would have been arrested & jailed. Also why was there an urn showing BAJ had died when there was also footage of her walking away from the final car accident and a scene showing a female laying flowers before her niche, which presumably could have been Baek A Jin ?? Anyway despite the open ended finale I really enjoyed this drama to the end. The cast, visuals, photography, wardrobes, were exquisite. The chemistry between the leads was fantastic. Especially between Kim Yoo Jung and Hwang in Yeop.
I'm half way through and finding the story plot ok but not great. I like the leads & side characters but can't stand when LYT puts on that high pitched little voice in her supposed honey trap scenes - very off putting. Good cast, beautiful cinematography & costumes. Some comedic moments which makes it more entertaining but not sure why it's not really grabbing my interest yet
I wish Minkyung would get over her ex and start a fresh. She seems to be one of the ones struggling the most. it's not surprising after 7 1/2 years together. He seems he's ready to move on & doesn't seem to have any feelings left for her 😢
I'm struggling to get through this drama. I've been seeing a couple of episodes at a time. Not sure why it's not grabbing my interest. Although the ML character I find dull. I'm up to ep 32, is it even worth finishing?
I absolutely love Hidden Love and I've rewatched it a few times. Each time I fall in love with the storyline, cast, cinematography - everything! Leads had such great chemistry!! But this mini drama felt like the actors were trying to copy the original actors and how they portrayed their characters. It didn't feel authentic and chemistry was just ok
Just finished this drama and there are things that I liked and some I didn't. It had a strong cast of really good actors - can't fault them they played their roles well. There were moments where the pacing was a bit slow and I wish the ending had been different. When it came to the Lead's chemistry I found there wasn't much chemistry, especially the kiss scenes, were emotionless from LSS's part, she had pursed lips all the time. It seemed like ZYL was giving it his all to make it natural and sweet, romantic etc but LSS was just stiff. Something that really bothered me was it seemed as if all the actors had used menthol tear sticks for their crying scenes,as they all had red eyes - it was just too obvious.
Can someone explain to me, why Huai Zhu was only allowed to marry Hongye as his concubine and not as his official wife?
I'm really struggling to watch this drama. I'm up to ep 11 but I haven't started to enjoy it yet. Bai Lu is one of my favourite actresses but her character for the moment is quite annoying. It's hard to see her looking so unattractive, unfeminine, noisy and ignorant. Please tell me it gets better - I'm constantly thinking to drop it!
update: I'm glad I stuck with it. Although the pacing was quite slow at times & I fast forwarded some scenes I started to enjoy the show from ep 20 onwards The cast was really good and it was great seeing Bai Lu challenge herself in a different type of role.
I just finished this drama - the storyline was really interesting. I love strong female lead characters and revenge plots. The cast, OST, cinematography were exceptional but I don't know if it's just me I didn't feel any chemistry between the leads.
This drama is a hot mess, the only thing that kept me watching was the very sexy and dangerous ML! Such a toxic relationship, she should have run for the hills early on and not turned back
I'm up to do 10 but so far the pacing is quite slow; even the way the leads speak. I really like the FL and ML so am hanging in there. Hoping it picks up Update: I've finished this drama and found that although it was a bit slow paced I was blown away by the acting. Chen Zheyuan and Liang Jie were absolutely fabulous. The emotional scenes were so impactful. Cinematography & OST were beautiful. It was a heart wrenching ending and portrayal of how PTSD impacts lives. Lee Zehan was never the same, he tried to run away not wanting to bring her into his living hell but Song's love for him was unconditional and profound. She chose to stay by his side and face whatever cam their way - I bawled my eyes out!
I like both Esther Yu and Lin Yi BUT if there's something that really irks me is listening to Esther's high pitched squeaky voice and seeing her act all cutesy. When is she going to drop the baby act which we've seen in every single drama she has filmed to date. She 's turning 30 this year, it's about time she she shows a more mature side and broadens the scope of her acting. Don't get me wrong I think she's a good actress and could really shine if she wasn't constantly trying to act cute & sexy but in an immature way e.g. puckering her lips, puffing out her cheeks etc. For example, I really enjoyed her performance in Love Between Fairy & Devil where we got to see more sides to her acting through some emotional scenes or when roles were reversed and she was the overbearing Devil etc.
I enjoyed watching SiL - the lead couple had great chemistry, the supporting cast were engaging and the story line was an easy watch.
I just finished this drama and quite enjoyed it. One thing the screen writer got wrong in my opinion was that Gu Yuzheng was meant to be the younger of the brothers but the older brother was Su Weian's classmate while GYZ was her professor???? Am I the only one who thought that was a mistake in the script?
Also I like both leads and consider them to be talented actors in their own right and they portrayed their respective roles really well, but I wasn't convinced about their chemistry - their kisses were a bit stiff, e.g. Zhang Ruonan had her lips tightly pursed in each kiss. It didn't seem natural. Quite different to her chemistry with Bai Jingting in The First Frost. Their kiss scenes were sweet & intimate - their chemistry was off the charts!
Lastly if there's one thing that kind of gives me the ick is how skinny Luo Yunxi looked. His legs looked like 2 twigs in jeans and his face was extremely thin! It made me wonder whether he has some sort of eating disorder or naturally has a very small thin frame.
Any who still enjoyed the drama overall and the ending was believable.
