like good or bad ending? it's a good/happy end for most of the characters. there is a bit of a tease for a possible future season but it's not connected to the buddha statue that incident is wrapped up
the fact that you get the best picture of the story being told if you watch it in reverse 8-1 after watching 1-8 is really interesting! that concept uplifts this drama a bit, but overall it's still just ok in terms of horror. interesting to watch though! and i'm sure even more interesting if you're dedicated to finding all the details that link the stories together

interesting concept setting things up to be watched first in reverse. if you watch it end to beginning after finishing 8 you see more of the bigger picture. this concept is definitely the best part of this drama because beyond that it's just average. connecting it like this elevates it a bit but it could've done more so each ep felt intense and then WOW even MORESO once you have all the pieces. very gory and sometimes a little creepy but the creep factor is quite low. the stories are short and don't really have a lot of impact, but definitely come together better in revere and its interesting to pick apart the connecting details. i appreciate the short length as well, it's right for an urban legend anthology and makes it easier to watch in reverse (i wouldn't bother doing that if the eps were long but at 8min each it's feasible).
Not bad, and beautifully shot and acted, but really this could've been so much MORE. I love occult/supernatural horror but it just feels like it took half the time just to get anywhere and then it just didn't feel... idk.... like it had the right level of depth to really strike me. We needed more time to deliver that depth and urgency needed. There's so much potential, and i'm not saying don't watch it because it's still worth a watch, but damn..... could've been more. In the end, The Guest still reigns supreme in my heart but it was a good attempt by tvn to go up against ocn.
it's not a fluffy bl that's why the rating is like this unfortunately :\
Sorry about your personal triggers, and you of course don't have to like this drama, but I'm right when I say that the rating is, at least in majority, because this drama doesn't fall into the light and fluffy bl pile. It's evidenced by the attitudes of some people on this page and on other socials that we witnessed when this drama was airing. Some people condemned it simply because it wasn't fluffy - even those who didn't even watch the drama properly were speaking out against it even though they had 0 context. Just because a drama isn't light doesn't make it toxic by default - it's not a choice of one or the other, and Hira and Kiyoi's relationship is a lot more complicated than that. Again, you don't have to like this drama, everyone has their preferences and everyone has their own triggers that make things unwatchable, but it's not a secret that people have done rating bombs on this drama in particular because they think that queer content should only be wholesome and light (yes i've seen people admit this), so what I said above is true.
It was poetic in a way that mountain punished the killer.
I feel like it tried to stop him first by sending the visions so the rangers had a chance to prevent deaths. There may have been pity there for someone who used to call the mountain home... Also it was important that the victims' deaths be realized as murders not accidents so they can truly rest, but the truth would never come out if Sol just died. At the end they found the evidence, so justice was done, but Sol refused to stop and so the mountain punished him once and for all. At least that's my take on it.
so unique to have a drama that focuses on Mt.Jiri and the people who are connected to it! not always perfect, but still so well done i really enjoyed it. as a review above called it, it really is an ode to the mountain and its rangers.
It's not bad but...it's not great either. Because the cast is fantastic and I love the actors playing the main…
I'm feeling the same. I loved the beginning but i'm at ep 28 and it just feels like a push now to get to the end. I'm just not feeling very encouraged compared to the excitement at the start... Too much repetitive palace drama in the middle I guess. Doesn't help that the screenwriter and director changed halfway - it shows. At least I get to see Lusi and Yang Yang I guess lol.
Everything everyone else has mentioned plus: His: I Didn't Intend to Fall in Love + its follow-up movie set when they're adults which is just called His, Restart After Come Back Home, Kamisama no Ekohiiki, and Ossan's Love (this also has a movie sequel)
