I haven't read the hikaru genji novel but did hikaru have relationship with his step mother fujitsubo in the original…
Yepp. In the Tale of Genji he's in love with his stepmother and assaults her, resulting in the birth of Reizei who they pass off as the son of the emperor instead. Fujitsubo eventually distances herself from him and becomes a priestess/nun. Genji kidnaps, raises, and eventually marries Fujitsubo's niece Murasaki because she looks just like her (much like how his father married Fujitsubo because she looked just like Genji's mother)
in 25min it actually accomplishes a lot. we learn about the main guy and form a connection/attachment to him, and him walking through the old house built a really tense atmosphere (props to the sound direction too because the noises spooked me). for a short film i think it did really well.
ahhh~ I want to watch! I wish they'd release this on their vimeo so I could buy it (I don't want to link my card to my youtube it's just a personal thing)
a little bit too predictable and also slightly repetive, and would very much like to see some kind of motive for…
Some killers don't really need deep motives, but this one seemed to 1 like the game 2 had issues with family/people having loved ones. He actually got mad and told the drunk he didn't have parents, and the ones he targeted all showed him in one way or another they had someone who cared about them waiting for them (mom and daughter smiling and talking in the car before splitting up, gf talking on the phone to her bf on her way home to him, sister talking to her brother on her way home). He loved to take them away from them.
Watched this alone at night and I found it spooky with a good tense atmosphere! I kept looking around the edges of their cams for ghosts lol. I'm one who tends to like terror over horror (atmosphere/fear over what you don't see vs scares right in your face [there were some of those too tho]) so this suited my tastes.
#2 Nope, he didn't care a damn about her or his own flesh & blood. She's just another killer weapon...
i agree with the 1st point, to shake/kill her is kinda what i figured, but we're gonna have to disagree about #2. i think in his own twisted way he cared about her a bit. he obviously didn't care about her more than himself/his goals, and he cared 0 about his kid, but still. there was a line that basically went "kill me. that's when the real pain starts. like when i killed you" that just makes me think killing her did affect him - not enough for him to wish he didn't do it, but enough to feel sad he "had to". idk there was this tie between them, even if it wasn't good.
The way sometimes we are hearing from FL's POV and suddenly the killer is right behind her and she doesn't know - freaky! She was so smart throughout too like noticing the monkey was making noise but the lights weren't blinking so she knew something was fucky. Loved it!
Honestly if these seasons are historical fantasies that focus on the brothers then maybe i'll like it better than S1! S1 wasn't the best imo so i'm surprised this has gotten 2 more seasons ordered, but i'll be checking out with the hopes of a better written fantasy drama
I know this is up for free on their youtube, and they're even kind enough to have a 100% discount available on the vimeo page, but please consider paying for this - consider it like a tip! They made a wonderful couple of shorts for all of us to enjoy and deserve it.
