Is WKX weiwuxian's brother or what ☻︎☻︎ the same flirting vibes .... Haha. Gods of flirting ( ˘ ³˘)♥︎
I think WKX is a lot more obvious and blatantly gay than WWX, but the shameless flirting befits both of their characters, although WWX flirts indiscriminately while WKX is more discriminate and directed in his flirting.
He needs more lead roles, he's such a talented actor. I loved his acting in Destiny of the White Snake and Love and Redemption. He makes such a relatable bad guy that one feels for his character.
This drama is severely underrated. It's the best Wuxia drama I have seen in a long time. It is action-packed with a good plot, compelling character development and cinematography. Since the remake of Jin Yong's Condor Heroes in 2017, this is so far the only Wuxia drama I fully enjoyed that lived up to the Wuxia genre. Gala Zhang really outperforms in his character in this drama. He comes off as the very believable mature main lead character, a far cry from the earlier characters he depicted.
The story in this drama main focus is on Wuxia, not the romance. The FL acting talent is quite weak, so there isn't much chemistry between the lead couple (Ren Jialun couldn't do it alone). The love story seemed forced. The script isn't well written for the love story, but this story works fine if you enjoy wuxia's novels. The action scenes are nice, and Allen Ren Jialun's acting is superb as usual. I enjoy his cheery character away from Under the Power and Autumn Cicada's serious and cool characters. Once again, he proved to be a versatile actor. I watched the drama for his acting, and I wasn't disappointed. I did struggle to get even half-way through the drama... If you're expecting another great story with romance like Under the Power, you're going to be sorely disappointed.
I'm pretty skeptical about Chinese Drama as I rarely finish them. They feel long and draggy with many fillers and too heavy going. I always preferred Kdrama for the quick 16-20 episodes. Under the Power was an exception for me in Chinese Drama. The 55 episodes flew by fast and it didn't feel that long. It was a really good watch with a well-paced detective story, romantic story development, a good villain and exceptional acting by the cast. This drama is so good, I rewatched it several times instead of starting a new one. I'm a fan of Ren Jialun after this drama, the man is an exceptional actor!
I was really skeptical to start watching "Under the Power" seeing his baby face. I'm really impressed and a convert as a fan after watching several of his most recent series after under the power like Autumn Cicada & Love of a Lifetime, although those series weren't as well written and the FL doesn't have the same chemistry with him and acting skills as the one in "Under the Power", Allen Ren still did a superb acting job. I'm impressed... he's on his way to becoming the Chinese Kevin Spacey (also a baby faced versatile actor).
meeeeee im still checking this drama out and thinking if i should invest time on this dramai watching Under The…
I downloaded the whole series using CocCoc browser and re-watched it so many times I lost count. LOLLL... I'm hopelessly in love with Lu Yi. Although Li Chu is starting to grow on me. The history in Glory of Tang Dynasty is much more interesting than the lack of chemistry between Li Chu and Shen Zhen Zhu. Shen Zhen Zhu's character seemed so lacking and wanting compared to Yuan Jin Xia.
I also wasn't too hot about starting Under the Power but had nothing else good to watch and was curious about the good ratings. The first impression: didn't think much of Ren Jialun's boyish looks, I thought it would be a flop, that his boyish looks wouldn't come off convincingly as the cold-hearted/almost cruel Lu Yi. At most, I thought Ren Jialun would only pull off the likes of the grumpy baby faced crown prince Lee Yul in "100 days my prince". Two episodes in and I couldn't stop watching... I binged. Couldn't believe I watched 55 episodes of a romantic drama without the main characters ever uttering a single phrase of "I like/love you" or doing hardly any kissing scene at all?!! Wow.. I'm really quite impressed with Ren Jialun's acting. It was a pleasant surprise to find such a versatile Chinese actor (Since Gong Li, I'm not easily impressed by the mainland actors). Allen Ren could flip convincingly from 8 years old to 13 years old to adult face/personality in a flash of an eye, from the stone-cold face to warm-loving or playful teasing face in a snap of a finger. Watching his other characters, Ren Jialun really blends in as his character (too bad sometimes the ones he played are not really interesting). He reminds me so much of Kevin Spacey's superb acting abilities. I hope he will hone his craft enough and have enough challenging roles to get there.
Absolutely agree with you. The first time I encountered Ren Jialun was in The Destiny of White Snake. Dropped…

The best Wuxia Drama I've seen this year! Excellent acting for main leads, compelling and interesting story. Allen Ren was born to play Lu Yi. The guy acting as the main villain is superb and very hatable. The story has a very relatable and believable romantic progression storyline between the two ML. Their chemistry is off the charts despite the lack of kissing scenes
I rarely enjoy Chinese Drama since it's usually draggy and too melodramatic with not so good humour. This one is an exception! The storyline and characters are well written with good acting, a very rom-com story-line and, as usual, a slightly annoying female lead. I love the OST and background music. Also, an exception to most Chinese historical drama is that there are lots of very realistic romantic flirting, kissing and intimate scenes between the couple as new husband and wife. Both main leads did a good job acting and bringing out their characters. It's a plus that they're both eye candy. The main lead female character is very witty and bratty, sometimes annoying. Still, it is justified by her spoiled upper-class upbringing with a mix of harmless delinquency due to being bullied by her sisters. Caesar Wu's portrayal of the General is very realistic and cool, but I'm afraid I disagree with the story description that the General is icy. He's not icy at all but a quiet, deliberate, lonely hard-working man. His sense of humour is there but muted until he met his match. The romance between the two main leads is funny but not realistic (but this is a rom-com). The humour is well written, and I laughed out loud so hard it made my family wonder. The fight scenes are well-coordinated, though there are few of them. The clothing is, as usual for the Chinese period drama, elegant. This series is definitely a must-watch as a period rom-com if you enjoy Chinese Drama of this type. It is also a good watch if you don't like the draggy Chinese Drama; this one doesn't feel draggy. The dialogues are well written and funny, so pay attention to it. The main characters' lines are often witty. For someone who often loses patience with draggy drama, I really enjoyed this one.
I watched it because I started it, but it was so difficult to finish with it's boring plot line and none existence character development. The only character that I liked was the CEO.
Who else ship So Ah and Hoo Ye? I find Habaek just immature and narsisstic. I watched the drama because of Nam…
It's not circumstantial evidence since we saw his ex-gf in the cave with the boy Hoo Yee. The bit about falling in love with HB and loosing one's mind was mentioned when HB kissed her by his servant.

What is worse is that (if I remembered correctly as it was mentioned in the first episode), that if anyone falls in love with Habaek in the human realm, she is plagued/doomed with it forever and looses her mind after he leaves the human realm.... what obviously Habaek is plagued with Narsisstic Personality Disorder as he doesn't have any care for So Ah's well being or future at all but his own immediate indulgence of feeding from the relationship with her. There would hardly be any consequences to him, he didn't have a problem leaving his last girlfriend and letting her be imprisoned in a dark cave without ever visiting her. Such incredible lack of empathy and self absorbness . What is worse is I don't understand why he doesn't approach the CEO to admit that he is his father and ask for forgiveness for putting his son through hell. Again, lack of empathy...
Honestly, for a practicing psychiatrist, So Ah has so many issues and is very emotionally unstable and unaware of her own psychological stuffs. She obviously didn't do any therapy herself to aid with healing. Big denial issue. She's a very emotionally unhealthy person, thus the attraction to Habaek, someone with NPD vs. not being attracted to Hoo Ye, someone who is much more emotionally available, mature and works hard to recognize and overcome his issues.
Man oh man, episode 14 is so funny and juicy to watch. The interactions between the main characters are priceless.
