For whatever its worth Hoo Ye had behaved like nothing but a gentleman to So Ah. He reveals all his insecurities and vulnerabilities to her and doesn't play any head games. He truly cares about her and taking care of her despite not being sure about her feelings towards him or even needed recognition or gratefulness from So Ah for his actions at all. Haebak on the other hand play all kinds of games, has control issues and power trips like a true narsisstic. He doesn't reveal any insecurities or vulnerability to So Ah. He kept the truth about his past relationship or insecurities to himself and So Ah finds out from the other gods. He knows that their relationship would go no where yet he indulges in it despite knowing the negative consequences it would have on So Ah. Haebak is a total prick.

Who else ship So Ah and Hoo Ye? I find Habaek just immature and narsisstic. I watched the drama because of Nam Joo Hyuk, but I just couldn't like his character in the drama. Hoo Yee's character is much more mature and relatable.

This is my favorite version other than the 1983 version with Barbara Yume and Felix Wong. It is loyal to the book which I really enjoyed since I was a kid. I don't know why producers or directors feel the need to change the Yung Cha's novels when they are so well written.

I saw parts of the Chinese version but because it was 50 episodes, I didn't have the time to watch it all. As much as I like Nicky Wu, his acting didn't impress me as well.

If I was Hae Soo, I would eventually fall in love with Wang Jung. No doubt she had so many of her lovers failed her except him. Whatever the reason for her wanting to marry him, he treated her like his wife nevertheless. I wished the writer would have given her a happy ending to finally end up with someone who really cared about her enough to do what it takes to rescue her from the palace, to be by her side regardless if she was having someone else's child and to take care of her while she was dying. That's true love... I don't know how else a man can express it! The other guys excuses seemed so pathetic.

Honestly, at the end of this drama, I wished that Hae Soo would just fall in love with Wang Jung and just be his happy wife. He was the one who has not left her for power like Wang So or the 8th prince. They both seemed pathetic compared to Wang Jung who got the guts to ask his father to approve marriage with her right away after his victorious battle. Wang Jung was respectful enough and cared enough to not ask for her hand when he knew she was deeply in love with another man. He waited and waited to rescue her when she allowed him to. I would see that Hae Soo would have fallen in love with him eventually if she remained by his side. Both of Hae Soo previous lovers cannot compare! I ship Hae Soo and Wang Jung LOL

This is one of the few Kdrama that I watch twice...no! 3 times.
Being a fan of music and playing in an orchestra in high school before, this Kdrama is better than good sex for me. It is an intense passionate long drawn out lovemaking of the heart and soul. The script and directing is captivating. The drama feels like an indie movie, not your typical 16 episode drama. (Of course if you are into instant gratification of the coarse kind with action, plot twists and heavy overacting ...this drama is not for you).... so as not everyone are into impressionistic arts. Slow and deliberate subtle bake ....if isn't everyone's cup of tea.
But if you have patience....this drama is amazing! (And I have lots after watching 3 hours of a silent documentary film called "into the silence"....seriously...3 hours of no dialogue or narrative at all :o/)

It's these dramas that gives the good guys a bad rap. Young girls always end up choosing a jerk because of this and because they make her laugh. I have a brother-in-Law with Hwa Shin personality, after a few years the chemistry wears off and my sister is miserable and with the jerk....who isn't so lovable anymore. I choose the nice guy anytime! JW is the ideal marrying type....guys like him go for the long haul. Why don't Kdrama place more emphasis on values and good personality traits? Rather than ruin us all with jerks and bad boys?

OSM had become KC's father-in-law...he is also becoming a webtoon character himself by virtue of family relationship with the main character. Looks like 2 worlds are coming collapsing into 1. It would be an appropriate ending then if the comic ends and they are all trapped in a frozen stasis state in the comic.....happily ever after!

I am enjoying it, Bo Gummy and Jin Young are sweet but the drama is way too overrated. :(
I think so too, although it has a stellar cast, it still uses a lot of recycled tropes and drama plots. Unlike W, which is really original in its script! W takes me on a major rollercoaster ride where this drama just ampt up the regular emotions in its use of predictable tropes and plot development. I do enjoy Park Bo Gum acting tremendously though. Kudos to the young man! He can turn from serial killer to bumbling shy baduk genius (who couldn't tie his own shoes)...to a regal commanding heir to the throne. When I first started to watch Kdrama a year ago I thought that Lee Joon Gi and Lee Jong Suk was good......PBG beats them both out of the water because he is stellar at a much younger age than the other two. He doesn't need age and so much experience...He doesn't go through Star Sickness like Joon Gi to learn humility, doesn't need to purposely do skinship with female co-star to develop emotions for the roles like Jong Suk. He seemed to be a method actor who can cry on the drop of a hat. The boy's got skills! He hooked me right after "I remember you/Hello monster" and I couldn't help it but watch all subsequent dramas/ movies that he is in. Darn! Haven't felt this way about an actor since I first laid eyes on Benedict Cumberbatch with his small minor role in Atonement.

That was one of Park Bo Gum's wish, that he would conquer the viewers with his acting through the eye. I read it in an earlier interview when he was not so well known.

Not since Boys over Flowers have I seen this amount of male actors eye candy in a drama. The first 3 episodes I watched for the eye candy (I admit! A bit shallow LOL). Episode 4 is awesome with LJG and KHN top notch acting. Lee Joon Gi never disappoints and I am taking notice of Kang Ha Neul (didn't see any of his works before).

OMG....who will they kill next in the W world? It seemed they killed/shot all the main cast and bring them back....this script drives my heart to a breaking point! One of the weirdest drama script I watched yet to date. It throws all the rules of reality and story writing out of the window. I feel like I am watching a video game being played (which of course the characters die and come back). vs a drama. Oh my heart...oh my nerve.

Good observation! This is probably what Kang Chul realizes in episode 8 as well, this is the reason why he wants YJ to un-write his story and stay away from him so the killer won't come after her. He figures if she is not his wife or someone he cares about in his life she would me out of danger. I doubt that a simple rewrite of the comic plot would work. Oh Sung Mo had tried to rewrite the plot many times but failed. It had a life of its own. The only way to stop the killer is to catch him and kill him.
